This is way overdue! I'm not good at decluttering perfumes I don't love, I tend to hang onto fragrances for longer than I probably should. 🤦♀️ Some of these go way back to before I started my channel even! And some I featured in perfume hauls a while back.
So here are some perfumes that I've just either not been reaching for or that I've just not been enjoying... they need to go, in fact, two of these have already been decluttered.
I think I could actually film another perfume declutter, I've still got some fragrances on the perfume chopping block in my ruthless 2023 mindset 😂

Now, that's what I call a "mindful" declutter:) It's very helpful in the sense of deciding how and why a perfume needs to be decluttered. Since I'm at the beginning of expanding my perfume collection, I'm trying to be as rigorous as possible in buying bottles that I really love, rather than just "like" or that have similar notes to something I already have. So I'm left with many samples that I've used to decide and they are what I need to declutter.

Hi Claire! Love seeing these videos explaining why they aren’t a good perfume for you. So many reviewers tend to tell about the initial smell of the fragrance when they first get them but many don’t follow through with telling how they performed since they have worn them for a few weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Thank you for your honesty.
Would love to see a video of all of the middle eastern perfumes that you do enjoy wearing and how they perform. It seems people have such great things to say about their longevity but, I have yet to find one I’m in love with. 🥴.
Thank you! I really do say every fragrance that I buy and realise is not for me, because I personally find that so so helpful, I'd rather do that than just declutter stuff quietly. If course, my opinion is not everyone's and I accept that, but it's good to see the consensus isn't it from watching lots of videos.
Yes me too with middle Eastern fragrances. I have lattafa ameer Al Oudh intense oud left but that is probably a strong like rather than a love. I have tried lots of Mancera and some montale too (if you count those as Middle Eastern? Maybe just that style?), as well as some Amouage, Swiss Arabian and some attar fragrances. It's all a bit of minefield for me 😂 I will think about which I have enjoyed and which not.

The rare Tiffani is something else
I wasn't keen, but most other people seem to love it, it comes up a lot in videos of great cheap perfumes. I think a lot of people bought it.
One thing I know - you really did give these fragrances a fair try. I bet you feel lighter for letting them go. I, too, have slowed down on the Middle Eastern fragrance purchases, especially as I've learned more and more that many of the ones marketed to Western hemisphere nations are clones of others. Not that I'm opposed, as you know 😆, but I'm trying to move away from duplicates in my collection. Fun video, Dr. Smith! 🥰💖
I did 😂 I don't declutter much at all, I have to really not be able to find much joy in something before it has to go. I will feel lighter when they've found some new homes ☺️ yes I get the middle Eastern fragrances thing. I've just been put off with my experience of the 4 I've bought. A 25% hit rate is not good... And yes, many are dupes aren't they, or a very similar DNA to other Middle Eastern fragrances. There are some gems though. 🥰
I have Rare Tiffany, I liked it but not love it, I was attracted by the bottle/color and name, it smells different enough for me to keep.
It is very different, I really wasn't sure what I thought about it to begin, it intrigued me, but I just found I didn't love wearing it. I understand why it's been a success though, it tick projection and lasting power for sure too!
Great declutter, Claire! Reveal does sound like a hard one to wear.
It's a journey 😂 I'll be happy to off load these. My fragrances were outgrowing their little spot in my bedroom and it was getting untidy so this was needed. 😊

Hi Claire. Nice video. I am not surprised that you decluttered these, some like Yellow Diamond intense and opulent musk I decluttered too. I think you were really patient with these perfumes. I doubt you will regret letting any of them go.
You're right! No regrets here. I really make sure that I won't miss them before I let them go. I just wasn't reaching for these, I can't wait to be rid of them all 😂

Love these videos! I’ve also been struggling with the saltiness of Reveal 😅 for some time. I admire your mum for being able to stick to a signature fragrance, I’m much too fickle! Good idea taking samples before letting go, it makes the parting easier. Thank you x
My mum will never be swayed from Rive Gauche 😂 that is just her. Reveal is a challenging one, interesting but definitely not easy. I kept keeping it because of the dry down but the earlier part of the fragrance just put me off it. I was so glad I kept a sample because I forget how stuff smells sometimes and it's much easier to describe stuff that you can resmell! Thanks for watching ❤️
I sold at least 10 perfumes in 2022 for the same reason! When I sprayed them, I did not enjoy them the next hours. No use in keeping those! I want to get use out of all of my fragrances
I'm with you Tessa! I do not want bad perfume days! You know what? The whole of January so far I've loved what I've worn every day! Ive been wearing different things from my collection and getting to know it again and I'm loving it! I'm also not feeling the urge to buy more fragrances because of that feeling. Yes it becomes overwhelming doesn't it? Perfume testing creates a lot of clutter. There are always ones you aren't keen on or don't wear.
Well the Versace Intense yellow Diamond I tried in a sample pack and found it longer lasting than the others in the bunch, which is good. I would enjoy it most in the spring time. Reveal does have that beachy vibe, I agree and it does remind me of summertime, the driftwood, the sand on my feet and the warmth. The skin scent of the dry down is nice. Sorry it got discontinued.
Yes yellow diamond intense had the best lasting power out of yellow diamond and the bright crystals for sure. It just wasn't what I wanted I guess, it's just personal taste and what the gap is that you are trying to fill in your fragrance collection.
I actually think reveal is a really interesting fragrance. I loved it when I first got it and wore it loads. I don't know why my opinion of it switched so much. I guess I started smelling the rubberiness and it bothered me. The drydown is still wow and delicious for me though 😋

It was the one that actually attracted from the first , the original is something that i am still learning to appreciate, so we are still on the learning phase. But if i would have to recommend one from the series, for sure l'eclat version.😍😄

I have the intense version. I think I prefer the EDT actually. The EDT is a just sunnier and a little fresher but still floral. It reminds me of MJ Daisy. I think I bought the wrong one maybe? Thanks for watching ❤️

Yes I think I enjoyed it more in the early spring too. It's a bit waxy somehow for me, maybe the ylang ylang. I understand why it was hyped but I just got to a point where I didn't want to wear it, maybe the ambroxan or similar chemical?
212 VIP sounds good looking at the notes. I know that passion fruit can come off screechy on me and I’m staying away from it lol. Sheikh Al Shoulk is very potent. I really enjoy it, but can see how it’s not for everyone. This was such a satisfying declutter Claire! ❤😍
212 VIP is a strange mix of screechy sweet. I just didn't enjoy it at all! 🤷♀️ Sheikh Al shuyukh is beautiful in the dry down but yes, crazily strong 🤣

I had the same problem with Prada. A touch too soapy but I thought it was pretty. I love how you describe Beige!!! 3D. So lovely! I need to dig my sample back out. I thought it was pretty but liked Coromandel better
I didn't try any of the other Les exclusifs other than Misia, which I also really like. I would like to try Boy and Coromandel. I have tried lots of supposed accidental dupes of Coromandel though, so maybe I have an idea of how it might smell.
I'm totally with you. Pretty much over most of my middle eastern perfumes, I just don't think anyone would want to buy them😸
Yes I am very cautious now with buying any new ones. And yes, they are so incredibly cheap that resale is effectively pointless. 🤷♀️
Tank you! I consider decluttering Luna by Nina Ricci. Too sweet and I don't enjoy any patchouli in my fragrances. I usually just give them to charity, I am too lazy to sell what I don't love. Great video!

Happy Saturday Dr. Claire. I’m currently going through and purging myself of fragrances I don’t like. I’m considering a Mercari account although I don’t have very many to decluttter.
Mercari seems like a good place to declutter pretty much anything, we don't have that here, we have vinted and eBay, that's about it. I hope it's quick and easy for you to get your decluttering done 🥰
I also have Prada la femme, at first it was more like a white floral perfume, but now I started to notice tuberose more and it's not my favorite note. But otherwise it's great for formal occasions. And I agree about Calvin Klein Reveal! So many people rave about it, but I just feel a beachy scent that is quite synthetic tbh.
I agree that Prada La Femme is a really good one for formal situations. It's not too loud and it's clean smelling and inoffensive.
Reveal is a difficult one. I think my taste changed over the last 2 years, but it's gone from strong like to something I can't wear. I think I've become more picky after smelling more fragrances in the last couple of years. Thanks for watching ❤️

I have never used a perfume as a room spray before, other than two fakes that I accidentally bought 🤦♀️ that I didn't want to spray on my skin. I will start using opulent musk like that though, it's not one I can tolerate on my skin and I hate to throw things away that can be used. I know so many people love it though, although I was shocked to see how much the score dipped on Fragrantica after the hype had died down. That's just it isn't it? Sometimes the hype is hype and not reality and also obviously people all smell things differently and have different tastes. I do think with smelling more, I've realised more what bothers me with fragrances and I feel lattafa is a very hit or miss brand for me.

CK Reveal is definitely a strange one. I prefer it on my husband. I agree that the fragrance really changes throughout the wear time ❤️

Decluttering is such a good feeling. Makes one feel lighter. I got out a few bottles from my fragrance drawer this morning as I'm decluttering and planning to put them on ebay.

Yellow diamond intense was disappointing for me. I can't remember what the EDT smelt like but it might be the one that reminded me a bit of Daisy by Marc Jacobs?

Yes, the EDT is probably more wearable than the intense and probably more suited for summer.
I enjoy a thoughtful declutter. The reasons why someone likes or dislikes a scent might help others.
The CK Reveal is one of my favorite summer scents and it was discontinued. If you’re selling and can ship to the US, I’d consider buying it.
Yes I don't find random unreasoned decluttering helpful at all. Sadly regulations for shipping perfume to or from the UK require a specialist export licence. It's annoying! Especially when I want to send people samples... Thanks for watching ❤️

Wow Claire you provide an incredible service. I've been searching decade's for a hot socket fragrance 🤣 now I know. Not linked but Fat Electrician opens up like that to me, like a singed burning socket and wires. That's interesting though.

I always wanted to like LVEB but I really cannot get down with shampoo. I don't get why it's so popular. Clairol you're shampoo brand only costs about £2/£3 well actually nowadays probably £25 so yea maybe the perfume could be a good buy.
I think I'd tried your Reveal sounds like I probably wasn't a fan. The "man's" was kinda nice but not more than that. The reflection in the bottle was pretty damn cool too, like an 80s Nik Kershaw video.
Black Tulip does sound like it should be nice. Yea white chocolate in there is a touch odd isn't it. And oh yes I'm so sick of Calpol tho I appreciate what it does 😂.
I think I'd smelt the Versace from you too or someone. Yea freesia can be a bit much can't it. Leathery Osmanthus is nice though. They are very hit and miss Versace.

Omg Claire, I feel bad you've never had magnetic lids, they provide many hours of joy and pleasure. The 212s are not too awful or bad, quite pleasant but yea generic.
I don't plan on decluttering ever, there would be too many regrets 🤣.
As far as declutters go I enjoyed that and the explanations
🤣 well you know, I aim to give you some interesting olfactory experiences, even if they aren't pleasant ones! Hot socket and tongue pushers at least provoke a reaction. It's good to feel something even if it is repulsion 😂
I can't imagine you liking reveal at all, you don't surprise me. And yeah, I had no clue how to hold that bottle, it was like a disco with the ring light.
I just can't with black tulip, I wanted to love it, but it just makes me feel a little ill, probably through association.
Versace are meh at the best of times, but I sent you crystal noir, did you try that one yet? I can't predict whether you might enjoy that. Probably no 😂 I've learnt that freesia is really not my bag. And fine with the osmanthus but not in a summer fragrance where I want something refreshing!
Sheikh Al shuyukh is an experience and yes, there is another fragrance that isn't luxe edition 😱 it means wise man of the village 🤷♀️
That 212 VIP is yawn. Just screechy and boring... The magnetic cap did get played with though 😉

Thank you for a great video! Love a good declutter! Rest assured that someone else will enjoy these bottles. If you smell rubber, tongue depressor, or clinical scents, followed by nausea and or headaches, that’s a sure sign that the fragrance is not suitable for you. 😅

I was surprised to hear you didn't like the Prada L'femme fragrance since it looks like about 60% of the bottle has been used up. But fair enough. I'm really not a fan of soapy or powdery or yellow floral.
Oh yes! I do buy some fragrances secondhand, so that one was part used already. It's much cheaper e.g. 100ml Prada La Femme EDP is £114 new, whereas a bottle with 50ml left, as I bought, was £13. So in reality I only used a few ml of it trying it out.
I'm dying at the S&P, bathing suit, caramel perfume description 😂 like what?! I don't understand how some of these perfumes ever make it to market lol!
Reveal is a complete journey, people often describe it as niche smelling, which I think means challenging 🤣 it's the white water rafting of the perfume world... 😂
@@dr.claire.perfume 😂 yeah it sounds like a journey! I fully appreciate the artistry behind making a fragrance such a journey but it just doesn't make for a very wearable perfume. There are great niche perfumes, like BR540, Byredo Gypsy Water and pretty much all of PDM that are special without being downright weird lol

I agree with Prada La Femme! I blind bought it because it was raved about and cheap from the discounters and sold it as soon as i got it. It is offputting does not smell clean to me at all despite being a soapy scent.
Maybe it's the beeswax that gives it a slightly dirty touch? Chanel Beige is much brighter in comparison, that has honey instead. La femme is one I tried with for about 6 months but it just didn't excite me at all unfortunately 🤷♀️ thanks for watching ❤️

Hi Tina, I think Prada la femme was just underwhelming for me. It sounds lovely from the notes and really had potential but it just falls a bit flat. Beige has that solar feel somehow and is sweeter and brighter. Not something I would typically rush to buy but I was happy to receive the oil perfumery version from Julija. No, I never stop trying things and being interested but I do have some in my collection that are still on the chopping block. I think I've got pickier but I do keep some because they feel sentimental. It's fine never to declutter, there's no need to, take your time. I never did it before CZcams, I'd just finish the bottle and move on.
I've not tried oud satin mood. I have l'extase rose absolue which is widely considered to be a dupe but from my understanding, they aren't that close. Also with oud satin mood, I think the violet is supposed to be prominent. Definitely one to sample and one I would love try, along with grand soir. 🥰

I was able to find a decant of Orchid Soleil, but unfortunately I'm not getting along with it. I can't unsee the mothball note that you mentioned in that video 😆. If we lived closer to each other, I would send it to you, as I know you love the perfume.
Oh I totally understand, it's not easy to love. It's one that clicks with a lot of scent memories of childhood for me, I think that's why I love it. It's a rare fragrance now, I hope you can pass it on and recoup some money. I don't own velvet orchid, but I love black orchid, again that one is quite polarising though. You saved me from blind buying CK Reveal. The drydown has been compared to Kenzo World Power and A&F First Instinct Blue for women (both of which I like and wear) but I don't fancy smelling like salt and pepper!
Yes I have tried Kenzo world power and actually I almost bought that one over reveal and looking back, I really wish I had have done. The bit I struggle with is the slightly rubberiness. It's good in the drydown but it's a journey 😂

I got a decant of Prada La Femme in a sub and I have not been impressed. It's nice, but not something I feel compelled to purchase a bottle of. I'm keeping my Lovestruck perfumes just for the bottles, lol. I think they're fab! I had the same experience when I purchased LVEB, it was a great deal, lol. I like the flankers better.
Prada la femme feels a little austere in a way. The Lovestruck bottles are fab actually, especially the purple one! Agreed with lveb, I really enjoy the l'eclat version. Thanks for watching ❤️
Good evening Dr. Smith, I have and love Versace Yellow Diamond EDT, but the intense Version I do not know yet, it sounds interesting, osmanthus and ambery, creamy drydown. If I lived in England, I would buy it, but transport-costs from England to Italy are quite high.
Does the EDT remind you a little of MJ Daisy? I only tried it a few times, but that was what struck me the first time. I feel like I bought the intense because I thought it lasted longer, but I probably should have got the EDT 🤷♀️ thanks for watching ❤️
@@dr.claire.perfume when you first spray it remembers the Daisy Eau So Fresh one, after fifteen minutes it turns slightly powdery (mimosa note), sweet-creamy from the African orange-flower, and a litte bit aquatic due to the Water-Lily, the smell is actually VERY similar to the Johnson's Shampoo (the yellow Baby Shampoo!!). I love the smell, it's rather sweet-creamy than it's fresh💛🧡🌼

I have been considering Perles de lalique, I really like that one, it's much sweeter than midnight poison for me, I get that they have a similar vibe though. I can pay you though if you are decluttering, up to you. I almost bought it in tkmaxx blind but was being good 😂 I will probably get it from notino at some point. I like how it's got that powdery peppery sugary touch, but yeah I really like rose and I guess you aren't so keen... Did you try any other lalique fragrances?

I didn't try anything from lalique before Perles de lalique but that one really impressed me for its pricepoint. Lalique pricing is crazy. RRP is huge but they are all £20-30 🤷♀️ I guess that's the same with lots of fragrances though 🤷♀️

I have a suggestion Dr. Smith on the leaky bottle; for my "gotta go''s from OP, in particular their version of TF TOBACCO VANILLE......... way too much clove, using either an empty roll of toilet tissue or paper towels, and protecting the surface below, I doused the rolls. My guest bathroom smelled divine for weeks, but it was an oil of course.

Black tulip seems one that people either love or hate, there isn't much in-between. I was shocked when I read some reviews and saw that I wasn't alone in my strong dislike of it. Different noses, they just make life very interesting! 🥰
I've only got a few to declutter, but the one I want gone first is Jessica Simpson's I Fancy You. Such a cute bottle but it smells exactly like Windex for the first 20 minutes! I definitely don't want to live through that for an "ok" dry down. It didn't break the bank at $17, so good riddance.😂

@@dr.claire.perfume The one in the white bottle is Fancy Dreams. I like that one. Powdery, soft sweet peach. I Fancy You is in a bottle similar to Fancy but the bottle is clear with blue designs on it. Anyway, the OG Fancy is pretty, a little sweet but I wear it on cold days.

I’ve never got my hands on Reveal - it’s one of those perfumes I always look at and want to sniff, but I’m quite sure I won’t like it so I’m not allowed to buy it! Just so intriguing in it’s oddness!

Yes hot electrical socket is clearly where it's at for some perfume brands 🤣 I think really most people only notice how bad that scent is when they've tried a lot of fragrance and sniffed up close. It's something that if you don't pay attention, you can miss and actually everyone smells differently and picks up different things, so maybe some people never sense it? I am trying to think how they could possibly still exist... 😂

I sprayed (in the room not on me) sheikh al shuyuk a few days ago (and also oud mood)- just because I wanted a woody scent - they burned my nose.
Somehow it got on my jacket and I could smell it 2 days later. So harsh. I don't know what to do with them I clearly can't finish them😫😫
The opening to sheikh Al shuyukh is really burning to me. I just don't enjoy it at all to begin with. The drydown is more pleasant, but not worth getting through the opening. 😾

Me too! I enjoyed it! I guess we all try more stuff and our tastes develop as a result... Mine certainly have become more picky. I do wonder if people just getting into fragrances and watching must think I'm awfully picky, but yeah some people smell these things as harsh and others don't. I see little point being mindlessly positive about things that I no longer enjoy. If my opinion changes, then I hope I am honest enough to say that. For sure, it doesn't mean that a fragrance won't be enjoyed by others and my opinion is for sure not everyone else's. Perfume is so subjective and diverse and that's really what I love about it! ❤️

In my opinion there' s a big difference in middle eastern between sample and full size; maybe I'm the one thinking this but sometimes it's better have a big atomizer and sometomes the big atomizer does not permit the right personal dose. you can't understand completely the fragrance

I could never find any Versace fragrance I really like. Tried almost all of them but I don't vibe with them🤷♀
The only one I find interesting is Crystal Noir but it's not one I reach for very often. I've finished Vanitas and it was ok, but nothing that special, quite similar to many other fragrances. They are a company that are just known for basic fragrances aren't they? Sometimes something basic is very wearable, inoffensive and that's what sells.

I get the DNA is similar with a lot of them, most of the bright crystal, yellow diamond, Vanitas, Eros all share something. Just like Moschino!

Yes I think there's a tonne of cheap aromachemicals sometimes, ambroxan probably being the main offender. It's comes off really rough when sniffing close up, they are more something to smell in the air from far away, but that's no good if you are wearing them. I only have one left, which is ameer Al Oudh intense oud, I do like that one. Thanks for watching ❤️
