So this video had clearly been brewing for a while... this is everything that annoys me about perfume bottles. Was this a good idea or not? Who knows!?
So I'm warning you, there's a lot here that annoys me 😂 The upside here is that I don't have any really terrible atomisers, so I am very thankful for that.
It goes without saying that these are clearly insignificant problems in the scale of the world, so please take this with a pinch of salt, cos this video is more than a little tongue in cheek 😉

They are weirdly addictive. My friend lent me her Dior Joy and what I liked best was the cap 😂

It’s the black or really dark colored bottles that annoy me. In as much as they prevent the perfumes from light...I hate having to guess the level of my perfume. Then there’s those beautiful gold mirrored bottles that end up covered evidently in finger prints and lotion smudges ugh 😩
Yes I don't have an super shiny ones but the Nina Ricci l'extase rose absolue and the top to Calvin Klein reveal is a bit like that... Guessing how much perfume you have left is a total no for me! 🥰
I agree with the Montales, I often have to search for the atomiser after it’s flown across the room somewhere 😂😂😂 I also hate the Rihanna Rebl Fleur bottle and any bottles that don’t stand up! The Want cap is awful I totally agree, such a pointless design ☝️🧐😫
I wondered whether it was all Montales or just the one I have because I don't have any others to compare. I wonder whether Rihanna perfumes were made by the same company as Beyonce? The bottles have a similar vibe to me.
You need to do a part 2 with bottles that you like.
I'm totally with you on everything you said, especially on dabbers and rollerball, I got empty atomizers and pupms on ebay and transfer them (or if I'm travelling then I decant what I want) they are really cheap and easy I highly recommend on doing that.
The dabbing method is bad and I had a dabber that got murky and I could smell a change in the perfume, and that happened quite fast.
You read my mind! I bought some 10ml atomisers last night! I have also had a dabber and a rollerball turn slightly. I sped up using them up as soon as I noticed it. I would not knowingly purchase any more dabber bottles especially. 🥰

@@silverliningfragrance1434 yes I think you are right. I would probably collect minis if they came with sprayers. It's to get you to buy the 30ml size for sure. I love travel sprays but I know they are generally terrible value...
My YSL Black Opium cap does fit well and it even clicks into place. A well-fitting cap is important for sure.
I think I must just have one with a broken internal thread or something. A few people have said the same! ❤️
I totally get it with Aura, it’s so fiddly! I also agree about the Montale bottles, they’re very annoying. Really tall bottles never fit on my shelves so that’s what annoys me the most. I definitely prefer more simplistic and sleek designs. Great video ❤️
Thanks Chantel! Yes I am pleased I don't have a limit on height for fragrances, but where I store them is looking a bit full these days. I either need to cull or find more storage 😂

Loool with the montale! I had the same issue. Jpg Classique bottles are similar. Really tall bottles (kenzo) and those where you can’t see how much is left is another one. TIP: with your Narciso cube if you tilt it with the atomiser facing you, you can see how much is left when you move it gently.
Oh wow! I am going to try that tomorrow! I really feel like there is max 10ml in there, I've worn that one a lot! Yes those Classique sprayers come off too! It's like that montale wants to take my eye out... Every time... Pop!
I thought my Classique bottle had an issue, so I'm oddly comforted that the flying atomizer is a universal experience. Who tested these designs and decided they were OK?
This is a good topic. There are very annoying perfume bottles. Some bottle shapes are awkward and bad atomizers are annoying too. 😊
yes I have one atomiser that is literally producing a stream! I have to be very careful how and where I spray! 😅
You nailed it! So many irritating little issues with bottles. The mis-naming is just egregious in my opinion. Imagine the embarrassment of people when they realize they have something different than what they thought. 🥴 And the opaque bottle situation is totally aggravating. Thank for watching. I wasn't sure whether to post this! I am not a negative person but I thought it might be fun... Yes, the woman who I saw reviewing had already tried decadence and decided that she didn't like it a few months earlier, then bought Divine Decadence and described it in the video perfectly as Decadence. It must have been confusing, but those two perfumes, despite being flankers, are not very similar to each other. The video is still up though so she's owning her error. 👌
i agree with u all the way, some fragrances' bottles are just so annoying and not practical at all, like for exemple GG and Bad Boy by Carolina Herrera, i know a lot of ppl that broke the high heel of GG so they can b able to use the perfume peacefully and confortably, also some A*Men Mugler frags r hard to spray... Many of my friends confused Gucci Rush bottles with cigarette packs lol, i hate perfume bottles that has loose caps or bad atomisers, Montale and Mancera might b considered as niche but i think they r very cheap with the manufacturing of their frags, i cant stand perfumes that r finger prints magnets or that r mirrory and reflective as well... lovely vid! u explain ur thoughts abt frags very well, keep up the fantastic work ♥
Oh yes mirrored bottles! I don't have any but I think that would be very annoying when they got greasy! Totally agree about good girl / bad boy, heard about a lot of people snapping the heel off.. I know they want their perfumes to stand out but those bottles do look very strange 😂 thanks for watching 😘
Oh I get all of these! I have Beyonce Midnight Heat and I need two hands to hold and spray. Hmmm...strange about Black Opium..if I press mine down it clicks firmly into place. But what drives me nuts is my other two Opium bottles (OG and Vapeurs de Parfum) look the same, but the atomizer is actually built into the cap and I have gotten them confused and almost pulled the atomizers off! Great video, Claire!
Perfumes that look identical are really annoying, especially when the scents suit different moods... Oh that is something I've nearly done many times with Madonna truth or dare, it's not clear where the cap ends and the atomiser begins!
I am wondering if I just got a bad batch with black opium because I've not seen anyone else say anything about the cap, maybe the bits inside that hold it on weren't moulded properly? I remember when I first got Beyonce heat, I casually pick it up to spray it as I was getting dressed and I had to stop and give it my full attention because I just could not get it to spray with one hand, if I held it by the neck, it just pushed the bottle down, it needed some grip point further up 🤷♀️

On board with you! I do like the fact that an opaque bottle will preserve the juice from seeing too much light but I hate not knowing how far down I am! 😂
It's disconcerting isn't it and also, how do you know you've got every drop? A lot of the time I have to specifically angle the bottle to get the last bit but I won't know how to do that with opaque bottles. 🤷♀️

Hi Claire! I join you in being picky about perfume bottles. I don’t like cheap packaging. I like my packaging to be luxe and I like to display them and think they should both look and smell good! I do like magnetic caps lol. I would continue to play with them. But not if they are hard to line up. I don’t like ugly bottles either. The garlic bulb 🤣, but yes ugly and horrible! I don’t think Gucci rush is nice looking at all. Kate Moss agree that it should have the right name as with the others. The opacity maybe practical but not what I look for. Also don’t appreciate dust! Great video, Claire!

the hardest to spray bottle in my collection is Rebl Fleur :D same as your Heat.... having a 30ml of Rebl Fleur would have been better.. :D
in terms of caps, THAT Private Accord cap is super loose, and I don't like it... i mean for a BOSS price, they should make it tight, like the La Nuit Tresor cap...

This is wonderful. I have advanced carpal tunnel (surgery did not help much). I also have arthritis. I have to hold that Beyonce Heat bottle with two hands and even then it's almost impossible. The lay-down bottles take up so much space. The loose caps and opaque bottles annoy me no end. Perfume bottles already come in UV protective clear glass so there's no need for opaque bottles. Your video is spot on. Every perfume should come in a standard Elizabeth & James bottle! 🙂
Ooh I didn't know that perfume bottles have UV protective glass, that is really interesting. I guess things like that will help massively with lifespan and will be helped by UV protective chemicals in the fragrance itself.
I can really see that Beyonce Heat would be a hard one to spray with carpal tunnel issues. I get shooting pains sometimes and having your hand in a large clutch hold is super uncomfortable. I mostly ended up using it with two hands because my grip wouldn't reach the sprayer.

Absolutely, yes I agree...I had from Victoria Secret some limited editions of Bombshell (Gold, Paradise)..the scents were cheerful, light, fun and carefree, but the caps were 🤨
It takes the shine off a little when the bottle or cap aren't quite right... 🥰
I feel the same way about the plastic tops! I love the lancome diamond shape but the top is so cheap! That Montale proved your point! I guess we all have this in common I do not like Kenzo Amour bottle for the lining up purpose! 😂 Marketing tries to hard keep it simple so I can display lol, love this video ☺️❤️✨
Hey Sunny 😍 thank you! I don't have a LNT but I have picky them up in shops a d the testers generally don't have lids so I never knew that the lid was cheap feeling. I would love to try Kenzo Amour but yeah the bottles are all off centre aren't they? I get that perfumes need to stand out and some bottles are nuts and I love them, I also applaud houses for taking chances but sometimes, they are just totally impractical. 🤷♀️

Hi Claire! If you ever decide to not be a scientist,you can be a packaging designer! I really enjoyed your video. Amusing and observant.So far,the only bottle that annoys me is Yes I am. I have to keep it very upright to spray. Not good if i want to spray behind knees. :) I thought maybe defective bottle. The video didn’t strike me as weird, hope you don’t mind if it was fun to me. You had many good points!

There are a few of these that I thought were only me! That cap one with the specific way to close drives me nuts! Also, I just got my first Montale and the top was not on it, got perfume all over trying to put it back on.
Yep, those Montale fragrances are so annoying. I don't know who decided that design was a great idea 🤷♀️

With all your complain points, i think Amouage has the perfect bottles. When you recieve it and take the cap off, you feel like money well spent.

Completely agree. Struggling to find another gripe to add xD. The opaque bottles are such a love-hate situation. I think the solid colors look fantastic, give a sense of "mysterious, magical liquid in a bottle", and probably DO help with longevity.
Yes same! I got a Reminiscence fragrance about a month ago and the bottle is stunning, but opaque! They do look fabulous and mysterious! Totally agree 👌

The 90ml is huge! I only got that one because weirdly, it was cheaper than the 50ml! 🤷♀️

I totally agree with all of these! I really hate cheap plastic tops on gorgeous, expensive bottles! I know it’s shallow, but it just ruins the whole experience for me. Same goes for atomizers - if I’m paying good $$$, I need a good “shhhhh” from my atomizer. Not a fan of poorly placed sticker labels, either. Sticker labels should only be on inexpensive bottles and if they have to use one, at least place it on straight with no bubbles. My final pet peeve (and this isn’t really to do with bottles), is heavily dyed liquid. Drives me nuts! You’ve got me all riled up, Claire! 😂
Oh yes, atomisers are totally no.1 with this and I agree, stickers need to be straight otherwise it drive me mad. I also hate when the dye dries and collects in the atomiser and makes it look dirty as the perfume gets older, no! 😂
I swear i thought i had a pefume with magnetic cap, went through my collection after your video , turns out i don't :D im also not a fan of kenzo caps not fitting easily and also got frustrated with not being able to see how much is left. VCA Extraordinaire collection is the worst, no light goes thru at all. Your video was so much fun :) keep being you!! p.s also love to see your perfumes have dents , i get so frustrated with youtubers showing off with expensive fragrances, saying how they douse with them and then show a bottle barely missing two sprays....pathetic.

Dabber bottles tend to get used sequentially and targeted for emptying, I hate for them to sit there with the bits in and the fragrance going off 🙄

Heat is a massive mistake in the fragrance world, considering Beyonce has said she is allergic to fragrance, and it's really not how anyone would imagine Beyonce would want to smell! Totally agree! 👍

You just killed me with the moschinl and those bottles with circles tops I can’t find to buy lol and I have a problem with the Marc jacobs bottles I just can’t do it ! Yes the perfume names . I love how those Rodriguez bottles look but that’s annoying when you can’t see .

Thanks! Those Moschino are gone LOL. Never tried l'eclat, if you mean Lalique Amethyst l'eclat? I've bought some atomisers to decant little dabbers into now, I won't be dealing with those in future 🤣 lovestruck floral rush is a very ozonic fragrance, it makes me think of electrical equipment, perhaps not for everyone 😂 Marc Jacobs are juvenile but also iconic I think. Again, it's a love hate thing 😂

@@dr.claire.perfume and to think the club de nuit bottles are among the better ones, I actually kind of like them 😂 (I have 2 and surprisingly both still have the charms firmly on). Now the legasi bottles on the other hand - as if fiddling with the huge lighter-esque cap wasn't bad enough, I've had the entire glass section that holds the fragrance fall out of the plastic casing and go flying across the floor 😳 Thankfully it didn't break.

I have Decadence and Eau so Decadent and I love those but I never got along with Divine Decadence. I am not sure what it was about it but it wasn't for me.

Omg fragrances with bad packaging are evilll. Nothing makes me want to get a perfume out of my collection more lol. One thing that irritates me too is when it has a bad atomizer. As soon as I see the atomizer is crap I literally never want to use it again lol

I’ve bought a 100ml of la Nuit Tresor nude and intense and I really don’t like it. It’s sooo big and takes up to much space. Agree with the Angel perfumes (muse included).
I think with those ones, you need to be a signature scent kind of person and just have one bottle placed artfully on a table somewhere... 🥰
Same with La Nuit Tresor nude, the bottle is really hard for my tiny child hands to hold 😀 Beautiful shape but very impractical!

i HATE opaque bottles!! i had Narciso Rouge and was able to see the level with a light but the Kilian solid black balls (that’s a whole different aesthetic issue lol: ugly and too heavy since the fragrance is stored on top and the lid is on the bottom) are impossible to see through 😭
I think those Kilian bottles would worry me, I would concerned by the possibility of leaks! I think I need to experiment a bit more with the Narciso cubes and see if I can detect the liquid level, I have tried lots of different lights but maybe just not the right one or the right angle yet?! One of my cats recently tried to climb on the kitchen table, he's clumsy and missed it and knocked down and broke my glass blender vase...
I have tape on my closet where my clothes because they get in and ruin my sweaters pulling out string and what not. Everything needs to be child proof to the max, and this is why I can't have nice things 😸

I think lovestruck floral Rush is "famous" for the champagne note. It's a nostalgic scent for me but probably not worth seeking out, but I don't think it is expensive, at least in the UK. Whereabouts are you based? I'm sorry if you have told me and I don't remember 🤦♀️

It's ridiculous! Those bottles and the ones for Beyonce's fragrances were not thought about ergonomically at all!
My problem is that my hands are TOO big. So, I just HATE 30ml, 50ml and sometimes even 100ml bottles. They feel so small & cheap in my hand. Thats why I only but 100ml or 200ml perfumes hahah

It's strange isn't it? I've kept mine too! In the UK, you can take them to the fragrance shop to be recycled (do they get recycled though or get put in the bin?). I looked into recycling mine in my recycling bin at home but the glass is a different type to jars and bottles and isn't supposed to go in that bin, so yes, I've basically being guilt tripped into keeping them by not knowing what to do with them! 🤣

My naughty bottles... Hmm my Issey has a cap that's about 8ft tall for no reason. My One Million Lucky is impossible to spray with my tiny hands, can't reach the sprayer 🤣. The Bvlgari ones are pretty but the sprayer wees at u, doesn't spray.
And talking of sprayers... The inconsistencies of sample bottles not spraying. Practically every Roja one I've had has been a struggle.

Hello! Yes like trophies 🏆 😂 I have been keeping them so far because even though they are accepted by local council recycling schemes, they can cause issues since they are mixed materials. My plan is to recycle them through the Perfume Shop scheme. Thanks for watching ❤️
