This was an absolute classic. Laughing the whole way through. Had every bit of the magic of classic AVGN episodes
8yr old me partially liked goonies 2. Just as a game, unrelated to movie, it actually had potential with all the tools and hidden secrets. BUT, the lack of clues literally made it a guessing game where you ended up hitting every inch of every wall in every room with the hammer or other tools, and i still missed things.
And yea, those rooms were a nightmare to navigate, but i guess it clicked at some point because i remember navigating them just fine later on.
I'll never forget when my friend came over just to show me how to beat the game, and i was blown away 😂

Some evil genius put Goonies 2 on a timer so going inside of the rooms was basically a death sentence for quarters.

I guess I'm weird, because I loved Goonies 2 as a kid. I even beat it too. Multiple times. It was a lot like Dr. Chaos, which was another favorite of mine on the NES
It’s a childhood favorite of mine as well. Once I realized that exiting a warp zone by pressing up took you to the back of the map and down was the front, the game made way more sense.
I never played it. And looking back, it's probably because it was called Goonies II. I probably assumed it was some bootleg game and wouldn't have had anything to do with the movie. Glad I never rented it.

Our local Pizza Hut had a Goonies II arcade. We LOVED it!!! It’s one of the very few NES titles I have actually beaten.
I love that as the budget goes up James' staging and sets stay the same or get cheaper looking to match that cable access feel. Its so perfect

A rare miss. Goonies 2 is a great game. 5 year old me could figure out navigating the rooms pretty quickly. Don't know what to tell ya
Same, except I was 8. Beat the game with no guides. We had more patience back then as we were less spoiled by more advanced games that came later.
If I went back and played an NES classic I never played before, I'd probably be a bit more critical as well.
The Goonies 1 NES soundtrack was hypnotic such a nostalgic trance I could listen it all day it's like a time capsule
