- Have you been holding off on adding gas to your MIG welding setup because you aren't sure if it's worth it? I was too, but now I have the comparison to see if it's worth the money and space in the garage. Don't forget to subscribe! Lot's more coming to the channel soon! #MIG #Welding #Flux #Welder #Build

The workbench being clean like that is just the open slate to highly productive projects
This young man and his workbench have a lot of potential this guy looks like he could get better quickly each day
I totally like his workbench and the drywall at the back is cool for a flame resistance
Hi Red dog Garage you need to stop, release trigger and keep the torch at the end of the weld for the post gas to protect the weld from oxidizing until cooled a little. You will get a better finish at the end. Cheers
American people don't weld on the floor this guy is awesome he is standing upright like a intelligent modern non caveman
Something wonky going on with your wire feed. It should not be pushing out the extra 2” at the end of the pass.
You’re right, it took forever to figure it out but the welder was set to 4t instead of 2t and I didn’t realize. Much better now.
Next video please show the machine changes you performed when switching from flux core to gas and show us you changing the wires
I like those helmets like he has the small ends is just fine and especially the flip down rules
That weld bottle my friend is good to take around for projects a mobile tank for repair at different sites
Great demonstration!
Pro-tip as a video Watcher hold all welds like 2 in from the camera and Hold Steady and for 10 seconds
Well Done... Thanks for sharing your experience. Subscribed...
Flux cored runs on DC wire negative. Solid wire runs on DC wire positive.
Very nice explanation on flux core and MiG gas
Very nice explanation between mig and fcaw..
This young man is smart he has a fan very smart to have for that stuff is nasty
Interesting difference. Did you switch the polarity between flux core and gas? If you use the wrong polarity for the flux core it spatters much more than it needs to. At least this is what I have read.
You are correct. Flux core requires DCEN
When you're switching from flux core did you reattach the wires correctly or do you even have to do it on your machine with gas sounded awesome
Also tell us if you can use gas with the flux core even though it is not required
Those helmets he has are hard to find the glass the tinted glass is totally cheaper and usually on sale to get rid of them
Asking the flux core wire is hallow mean have hole.inside its is true or not
That weld bottle diameter is good but the tall one is like 150 cubic feet it's skinny but taller but not the tallest
Mess with your co-workers and put the clear lens on the flip-down part over the helmet
I'm a just a hobbyist/weekend welder and was curious as to where you purchased those welding cubes?? Nice video!
Search Amazon or eBay for “welding practice kit” and there are several options . Thanks for watching!
With the amount of splatter you had I'm thinking the wires were not correct and reversed 4 flux score
Get an autodarkening helmet. Not that expensive and will help you a lot.
I like the 40cf cylinders. You can swap them at any welding store for a full one. The 80cf can't be filled everywhere and often are only allowed to be leased.
That last weld you clamped the ground on the clamp. Better to go on the work piece with clean metal. Grind off any coating to make sure you have good contact. Otherwise, your welds look fine. Cut them in half if you want to see how far the penetrate.
Thanks for the tips. I do actually have an auto darkening lens but I still tend to lift my face shield in between welds out of habit/comfort.
@@reddoggarage Your lens is too small too. Only $50 on Amazon for the 2-3x larger view ones. Adding more direct light on your weld area can help with seeing before and during welding.
@@jmaus2k that’s a good idea I never thought to put a spot light on it
The gas welds look good. What name-brand flux core wire were you using? I use Forney 42300 Flux Core Mig Wire, Mild Steel E71TGS, and besides a little slag and slight spatter it's hard to tell the difference once it's cleaned up. Cheaper quality flux wire snaps, crackles, and pops more than a bowl of Rice Krispies!
Good to know. Admittedly I was using flux core wire that came with the welder. Not sure of the brand anymore but I don't expect it to be a great wire. My MIG wire is Vulcan from Harbor Freight though.
Viewers are wondering how you switched so easily to gas and didn't show any wire changing on the machine
Volts aggravates the living crap out of me I've learned amps for 30 years and it's on all the older welders volts stupid
Mess with your friends and put clean nuts from nuts and bolts put the nuts in their glove hahaha sneaky
Bigger the bottel the better you pay the same labor for a300 as the save as an 80 bigger tank better bang for the buck
What language is that very poor grammar bro the words aren't even right I understand a little error here or there
Slightly frustrating now like everybody makes a video the video quality is way better but the work is amateur not picking on anyone for making a video
Great demonstration!
