  • In this video, I show different signs and symptoms of overwatered succulents and what they look like. Not all overwatered succulents look the same, and not all have the same symptoms. While some are quite obvious, some can be hard to detect especially if you don't know what signs to look for. In this video, I teach how to spot certain succulent overwatering signs, and what can be done so you can save your succulent from dying. #overwateredsucculent #savingsucculentfromdying #succulentrot

    It must have rained a lot in America this summer. It's so hot in Korea that more succulents in my house die than when it rains. It rained a lot last year, but this year it's too hot. I learned the painful symptoms of succulents in the rainy season from you. I think your information is really good information for me. Thank you so much for sharing a good video.💖💖

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  Před 3 lety

      Aww... yes we had a very hot summer as well. And now it's non stop rain daily. These succulents in the video are grown outdoors that get rain everyday and somehow still surviving. I need to condition them to get used to it and although some struggle, most are handling all the rain very well. Heat is definitely a harder battle for me as well compared to rain. Is it still hot in Korea or monsoon season now?

    Great tips about succulent overwatering 👍👍. My one good looking succulent has shed most of the leaves suddenly. I checked. It's overwatering.

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you! Yes, sudden leaf loss is normally due to overwatering. Hopefully your succulent turns out ok and makes it. The fast way to remedy that if it's not too late is to simply pull it out of the soil to let it dry out and stop water intake. 💚

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  Před 3 lety

      I like doing that too. 😊 Lately I've been feeling bad not blowing the water out of the rosettes coz it's constantly raining daily throughout the day. Some tops already lost the center leaves, and some in between. Thankfully when I catch it early enough, it's replaced with new babies. 💚

    Aloha from Hawaii! I just discovered your channel and have learned so very much from your videos, thank you! Question: I am a fairly new succulent addict and noticed that you don’t top dress your succulents, which I think one of the beauties of growing succulents along with their beautiful pots, too. Is there a reason you don’t top dress, and plant your succulents in fancy ceramic pots?

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  Před rokem +1

      Yes, top dressing makes them beautiful as well as nice ceramic pots. But I live where it's very humid outside and constant rains. Top dressing won't let the soil dry fast enough, that can cause the roots to rot. Ceramic pots also do do the same. So if you live somewhere like California, ceramics and top dressing will work. But for humid tropical climates, it doesn't work out quite as well. Not that it can't be done, but I just don't do it so much.

    If edema is a common problem, would you avoid bottom watering then? Would that overwhelm them and cause them to take up too much?

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  Před 2 lety +3

      Not necessarily avoid it because bottom watering is good for them if they are in the right soilmix and correct sized pot. The thing is, you need to slowly condition them to receiving more water each time you water them. So let's say when you get a new succulent, the 1st time you water, you only water enough to wet the roots. Then when the soil dries out completely and they need water again based on the condition of their leaves, you water more than the last time. Overtime, you will be watering with more water, but less frequently. Longer time intervals. After about 3 months, they are most likely ready to be bottom watered without the risk of edema.

      Hello Ms. Jonah! I use a fungicide called Daconil by Garden Tech. Red bottle from home depot in liquid form. I simply apply to fungus spots on leaves if it's just a little spot, then when it's time to water, just mix in a little of the fungicide. About 1:5 ratio and do this at sundown. None of the succulents in the video were variegated. And yes, they are all growing outdoors exposed to sun and rain daily. 😊💚

      I have a lot that are losing leaves at the bottom from too much rain. But so far, other than the watery mushy leaves, they seem to be holding up. Only way we can truly leave them to grow outdoors in our weather is to train them handle the wet the dry seasons. Let hope they survive this year with less casualties than normal! 🤞😬💚
