This is great. I really needed this video as I just purchased a large succulent pot with many succulents from Lowes in Colorado. Lowes had the plant instructions that said full sunlight. I watered the plant. After a day in the sun one of the larger succulent flattened out and died...In the morning I will see if I can save the plant. Thank you so much on this video. I now have information on how to really care for my succulents.

The big mystery still is - what is the ideal watering for succulents? Leave them to dry too much and they droop, a bit more, they rot.

My main issues I get with my succulents is stretching and them getting all tall and grown out. I try to rotate them and remove the dead leaves often. I've trimmed and replanted a few of them but the newer ones and fragile little ones quickly go from cute and symmetrical to all lopsided and stretching out between the leaves lol. I wish they'd stay cute and compact!

I have a beautiful little echeveria 'Perle von Nurnberg' that I overwatered greatly last summer. Actually, looking back, I half killed it! I immediately recognized the problem once it had dropped a few bottom petals and STOPPED WATERING. I didn't remove it from its like orange/peach colored terra cotta pot, but drilled some holes the width of a pencil by inserting it down to the base, so as to expose more soil to let it dry out. I think it's still recovering from the water shock, so I'm just giving it a long watering hiatus. It's winter time here in Lake Charles, LA and the next few nights are going to have lows in the 40's, so I'm moving it back outside on the porch so it can catch morning sun. It'll make it, but I learned a lesson. When it comes to watering, less is more often than not better most times, especially if you're in doubt. I can't wait until spring, so I can bring it out in full sun for 1/2 a day, then indirect light for the rest, due to the way the porch is situated. Happy growing from a subscriber!

Good video. I did exactly what you did to save a succulent last winter after it was bloated from the rain. I just stored it in our garage to dry out. The Bunnings around the corner from where I live are forever selling overwatered succulents. None of them ever look healthy unless the new stock has just arrived. The staff they use to water their plants just spray everything down with a hose. 🤦🏽‍♀️
