How cool would a chrome classic space minifigure be.
chrome, bronze, gold and metallic blue would be amazing!
They should have made one for the 60th anniversary line
Metallic gold classic space minifig would be great! :-)
people have made customs but it would be dope if lego did
I Feel like for a big anniversary theu should make a Chrome Gold Spaceman
The divots on the sides of the helmets were actually made for the castle visors, check out set 375
I was gonna say that, cause I own a castle visor for that helmet
This is unrelated but what happened to mike
@@thedasquad6256 fired coz he cant speak proper English, and im glad he is gone, I have english as my second language and I did not understand a word what he was saying, even i had better English than him.
@@joki6395 That's super mean dude.
What if Lego were to rename themselves after their Ninjago theme?
A gray version of the Classic Space helmet was used in two Castle sets, 375 Yellow Castle and 383 Knights Tournament. These two sets used a face shield piece which utilized the divots in the helmet.
Yes but keep in mind that grey classic space helmet uses the old light grey color that lego doesn't use anymore. The grey space torso is the newer light bluish grey color, so it won't be a perfect match
The point @DRUmBEaTTS was making was that the divots were not a manufacturing error as proposed in the video, but a vestigial feature from the castle helmet mold. @@Gameprojordan

IT WAS IN THE LEGO MOVIE AND THE LEGO MOVIE PART 22222222
@@legogeek9715 ?
According to Brikipedia, the color of the astronauts signified their job.
White were explorers
Red were pilots
Yellow were scientists
Blue were security/military personnel
And black were scouts/spies
I don’t think the pink, green, or orange spacemen have jobs listed, but I like to think pink are communication officers, green are engineers, and orange are electricians.
There's a variation that was not mentioned. There were two versions of the classic space helmet. The first has a thin chin and the later one has a reinforced chin. The difference can even be seen between the figures in this video. I know the white, red and yellow were produced with the thin one. They seem to have changed the version around the time that blue and black astronauts came along so I’m not sure about the blue and black. Blue helmet with thin a chin were produced but the only one I ever got was from a city set. All 5 versions were produced with the reinforced chin.
That is correct I own both the white and black ones and it is different
He mentioned it @4:30
@@mdhaynie That is the modern version from the LEGO movies where the whole helmet is thicker. The one I'm talking about is from the mid-80s until they changed for the bicycle style helmet with visor. You can see it just a bit earlier in the video on the black astronaut. Notice the reflection where the beginning of the chin protrudes from the rest of the helmet.
@@vokhev Many of the figures shown in this video are wearing the wrong (wider at the chin and therefore newer) helmets. The motorcycle helmets themselves never even existed in Classic Space until the green figure (Exosuit). For example, when reference is made here to a black minifigure in certain sets, unfortunately they all wear the wrong helmet with the stronger chin.
@@fexilein777 There were a couple of times before the exo-suit where they used the motorcycle helmets (usually without visor) for "classic space" figures but they were all later set meant as homage to the real classics.
When "The Lego Movie" came out I went out I got all the classic space figures. I distinctly remember having to bulk buy a bunch of classic figures with a half made classic black space figure and then got another bulk buy to get the other half. I must say, it feels great that I did all that when I was 10 years old and in total I spent about £50 over the time span of a year, but also to be fair my collection isnt exactly mint, it's not heavily used either but I'm happy with it. Theres a little wholesome story for ya! 😊
I was born in 1984 so my erra of legos growing up in the 80s included some classic space figures. Years lator after the lego movie I dug som up and made an up to date Benny figure with a clean torso and hellmet and just for fun made a black classic figure as a buddy for Benny calling him spaceman Bob.
Orange Benny: This will make a fine addition to my collection
Yep! Which ones do you have?
@@Seanboi_12 just blue

I don't know what's about them, but their face/helmet combinations makes them so adorable. I avoid staring at them to keep the magic.

I just remembered I still have the Benny's Space Squad set.

There are 4 kinds of classic helmets. The first kind had no visor dimples, and had an extremely thin chin strap. The second kind featured a quick fix for the chin straps by making it slightly thicker, although it wasn’t as thick as the new Benny helmets. The third kind incorporated visor dimples to work with new Knights pieces, but the new mold accidentally lost the all-important chin strap reinforcement. The fourth and final original 80’s design had both the strap and dimples, and is the one on most of these figs.
Thank you your answer is very professional.
Bricklink only lists one helmet without visor dimples. Since the castle visors originated the same year as the original spacemen, it seems as the helmets had dimples already from the beginning.
The old gray helmets apparently only came with the thin chinstrap, hence they're very often broken if you come across them. They're also coveted both among castlemasons and spacechasers so they're often quite expensive on the second hand market.
I have white helmets of both the dimples and non-dimples kinds. The chin straps seem identical (including the fact they're all broken, heh), but curiously, the ones without dimples are noticeably less yellowed with age than the others. I'm quite sure these were never stored differently, so they might use a different material or a different colouring substance.
Classic, I love how simple the old minifigs are.
These estimates are insane; you can get a perfect conditions of these figures for 1/4th the price
Vitruvis: 1980's something space guy. Benny: Hello
i got my dads old collection of sets, and he had around 30 different sets. one of them was the one with the black spaceman. thanks dad! you're the best!

Was about everytype of lego minifigure build? From the first to today.
All the changes from articulation to mould would be very interesting.

The visor equipping thing was for the old lego knights where they use the helmet in grey to put a knight-visor thing

PLEASE do an updated marvel collection. It would take forever but it would be so cool to see as I personally have almost every marvel figure (minus comic con)
Whatever happened to the new minifigure stands that Mike designed?
I actually found a red classic space mini fig in a huge lego bag in the basement of my grandpas house.
Legos back then we’re so interesting, they still are but I love old things
The black classic space astronaut is expensive because the gold print of the moon of the torso easily erased. Then a lot of minifigures only have the mark of the moon but this is not the original gold color.
Brick Vault needs to update this for 2020
Wow, without knowing I actually collected a quite few of them.
Am I the only one who liked the white background better? I like both! But I liked the white!👽
not ideal for white minifigures

A minifig collection idea would be every collectable minifigure from the series range, ranged from 1-20
I think we actually have some of those with stickers on them at home. Some of our LEGO is from my parents' childhood.
Thank you for making it 🙂🙂🙂
Aww... I see a 918 and I‘m a child again! 0:32
The old helmet was also used on the old castle sets where the mounting divots was used for the knight's visor.
That is exactly why those dimples are on it. They just kept using that helmet mold for the space series so there was no point removing the dimples
I had the 78-84 spacemen..still need the black one though! Awesome stuff ✌️
My uncle gave me his mint condition classic space collection.

Ah! Such memories are coming back to me, Lego Classic Space! But wasn't there a green astronaut at some point, or is it my imagination? Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane!
There was I think in an ideas set
@@ElectricPeaPlayz The Exo-Suit. The two green astronauts lacked Classic green helmets, though..
The visor dimples were in fact used in the classic castle line
I wish Lego would update/remake their older themes, also my Lego City police station set that was meant to arrive by Easter is coming today.
Do an update on every Jedi ever and every Sith and every Star Wars minifigs ever
I just subscribed. Very professional video and descriptions! I turned 8yo in 1984; my brother turned 5. I have sorted most of our well-loved old sets into baggies. This took HOURS as our kids have also played with them and mixed them with newer pieces. Thanks for helping me realize this was a valiant effort, lol. I also have some cool, really old pieces I collected from a Goodwill Pound store. They are made of (acetate?) and are kind of warped.
Now we have grey, purple, orange, brown, etc to add
We have all those colors already, lol.
Gray and Purple are custom made, but Orange came with a book and Brown came in a CMF series.
Very cool, I miss the live stream
Very informative, as I'm just sorting out my 'classic' space Lego, I nearly put the stickered astronaut out to pasture, I thought I made him up from some kind of 2nd hand scenario!
Being seven or eight when I got my first couple of sets in 77' 78' & 79' he must belong to 918, 885 or 6841 because these are my earliest set and never had that command station.
Anyway great vid, collecting hat on!
I love the old space set. I used so much as a kid. Actually got a little emotional watching this ...
4:00 Those helmets were also occasionally used for Classic Castle, which did use visor pieces specifically to pair with that style of helmet. Same helmet when used in Town and Space did not.
13:00 If I had these as a kid I'd have switched those guys to give the black suit guy red cones and the yellow guy yellow cones. Also, would make constant jokes about the yellow suited guy being naked.
Every Classic Space uniform indicates a different job:
White: Explorer/navigator
Red: Ship Pilot (hence his being so common)
Blue: Soldier
Yellow: Scientist/Researcher
Black: Reconaissance/spy
Green: Mech Pilot (recent addition)
Pink and Orange: Aesthetic variety, I'm guessing.
I assigned Pink to Communications and Orange to technician.
I’d say that the blue and red astronauts are the best.
Im betting they were playing with a visor piece but weren't able to get them workable until a couple iterations later on the motorcycle helmet
Personally my favourite Lego Space Minifigure is the 1992 Space Police Minifigure.
I actually have one of the classic head molds, I just found it in my collection, and it's one of the rare things I own. I use it as the head for my sig-fig.
Could you do every lego movie 2 minifigs??
These dudes are so iconic
I just found one of the torso stickers still on the backing 🙂
it's hard to find them without the helmet broken.

I got most mine for free, when I went over to my grandparents house, me my dad and my brother went into their basement and found a heck ton of my dads old space legos, and they were in pretty good condition. So that’s pretty cool.
This was made of one day before my birthday which was April 17, 2020 that’s awesome! I really love your vid’s

day....i forgot of asking brickvault for an obi-wan-kenobi update video
can you do all classic medieval figures
Could you do every Star Wars droid minifig??
SPACESHIP!!!!
In regards to those original red and white being common, I'd say R2-D2 or the Battle Droid are the most common ever as I belive R2 has come in every wave since his release and battlegrounds haven't changed since 1999.
He's not talking about them being the most common figures ever though, they are just the most common spacemen from the classic space series
Of all the lego themes, the space themes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s are the ones I like the most with Ice Planet 2002 and the original Blacktron line being my favorites.
I really wish lego would re-release the old space themes with updated touches to them. But sadly, this will probably never happen 😞
We should make them revive these older themes.
boy do I have a gift for you!

Cool I have quite some of the original, original, space minifigures and I also have quite some the pre minifigures that my dad bought all the way back in the 70’s and 80’s I have some red and white ones, one of the white ones is a little damaged on the back of the torso but I also have a couple the best condition and yeah I know about the difference between the remake and the new ones because I bought the space squad for the comparison and a little bit of lego nostalgia
I don't want to seem like some big lego nerd, but Im pretty sure the yellow astronaut came in 1979.
According to Bricklink, apparently the original skeleton minifig with dangly arms could rival the Red Classic Spaceman, having been featured in 46 different sets. I think that's the newest minifig with such frequent repeats, though...
Skeletons aren't technically considered minifigures since they dont follow the pattern of the patented minifigure design, same with star wars droids, no joke. I read this in the official lego released book "Lego Minifigure: A visual history" (the book that came with the orange classic space figure)
@@Gameprojordan Ah, well, if that's a classification they're using, then...
the black astronaut is actually meant to be a "spy"
9:13 I feel like the black spacemen were government workers/lawmakers. They only showed up later once space had already been settled and explored for a little while by the red, white, and yellow spacemen. It also explains why their more uncommon to see in classic space sets, as government agents or employees are much more uncommon then the average explorer. I make this connection as 1989’s Space Police used black Futuron spacemen as the space policemen. Just a little theory I have.
