    A very well-researched video on Blacktron lore! I was glad to see obscure references like Planet B-II and Commander Beltar make their way into this, and there were even a few things I never heard before! There's just two facts that I can offer that weren't covered in this video:
    1. In the 2009 online LEGO Club news article "INTERVIEW WITH THE LEGO SPACE POLICE!", Space Officer Stan Cometsky is interviewed about an encounter with the Skull Twins driving their Skull Interceptor, described as a customized type-3 hyperspeed vehicle. He comments, "Oh yeah, no mistaking that old Blacktron-built spaceship." This confirms that Blacktron built the Skull Interceptor from the "5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit" set long before the events of Space Police III. As far as I can tell, Wayback Machine never archived this news article... but it's one of the few articles that I happened to save a copy on an old hard drive, and I've recently copy/pasted the text onto Brickipedia: brickipedia.fandom.com/wiki/User:PeabodySam/Sandbox
    2. Regarding the eBlacktron X, its predecessor was the eBlacktron IX. Therefore, it is most likely the tenth model of the eBlacktron, and the X would be read as "ten" rather than "ex". Source: czcams.com/video/ZsXyEegEU9g/video.html (timestamp: 8:21)

      Thank you so much for sharing, that's a fantastic bit of trivia! I'd half-jokingly mentioned Blacktron being involved in transportation as a reference to the "Blacktron Cadillac" line of the old Maniac song, I guess this confirms it. And the material you posted is a treasure trove of LEGO Space terminology; I need to start making note of that for future videos. A fellow AFOL recently sent me an old Shop at Home catalog that has a short M:TRON/Blacktron story prompt too; I may update with a short video with the stuff I overlooked the first time.
      I gotta say, I laughed pretty hard at my eBlacktronX mistake. I try my best to get all the information I can out of of LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed, but those videos can be hard to scrub through so I guess it's inevitable that I'd miss something. Thank you for pointing that out!
      BTW, I'm super happy and flattered to see you here and commenting--your channel has been an amazing resource and I believe we've crossed paths before on various forums over the years. It wasn't until I was researching last year that I realized that your username here was a Bionicle pun--very clever, love that!

    I wish Lego would just make an entire Lego Space series in Ninjago format starting from the very first space forces to every space theme up to the very last space theme, maybe having up to 12 different seasons without forgetting one, and yes, include acknowledgement of Sea-tron also. Also it was Mainly Robo-force & The Exploriens that also helped combat the very First UFO series alien threat.'

    • @loreescape47
      @loreescape47  Před 4 měsíci

      I think LEGO has an untapped property in the Space themes for sure; it's great to see some attention being paid to it this year but I do think they wildly underestimate the appeal of the lore. And fair point about RoboForce and Exploriens; the main idea there was that Blacktron was forgotten a bit as Spyrius and UFO became the next big adversaries in the Space theme.

For example spyrius are said to be a different race but they look just like other humans, and the space police is a faction created by the galactic council that is said to gather or the races of the Milky Way, but all the members look human

      Nice! There's definitely story evidence for that too, and all things are possible in the LEGO multiverse. :) You raise a good point about the corporate stuff; that's a fairly recent addition to the lore via the LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed game. Given that Dwayne, an original Blacktron figure, was the one with the corporate connection (and the speculation within the video about Forrest Blackwell) I went with the interpretation that it's been an element of Blacktron society for a long time.

    Fantastic video! I am saving this for historical record.
    I always pictured Blacktron as one of the many split off factions of the original space explorations missions. The settlements they originally were sent to explore were scarce in resources so scientific enlightenment turned to survival. The early settlers pleaded for trade with the other star system settlements that were more abundant in resources but there requests were often overlooked. After time passed, and being unable to leave their desolate planets en mass, this forced them to start utilizing their remaining tech to intercept cargo haulers in the trade routes. I imagine Spyrius was a spin off faction of Blacktron to exercise more covert methods of acquiring materials and technology for survival. I look at them as NOT the 'bad guys', but a people left to the darkness of space to find their own way to survive.

    I'd love to see a video on the Insectoids. Their lore in Europe vs America are so drastically different, and to some degree so are the UFO aliens before them.
    My personal headcanon was that the Zotaxian fleet were once good guys working under Iil...xy...yx... whatever his name was when visiting the Fright Knights in that old commercial and Time Cruisers comic. When he died, Alpha Draconis took over as the cruel and tyrannical ruler described in the Insectoids book. The events of that book with the good European Insectoids then happen, before one of the fleets rebels and leaves Holox leading to the evil American Insectoids who would team up with Blacktron.
    (Ive also got my own more crackpot concept adding Craniac and the Buggoids into the equation but that one is for me for now)

    • @loreescape47
      @loreescape47  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I'm actually working on two UFO videos right now! It sounds like we're thinking along similar lines to incorporate the US/International storylines.
      Having Alpha Draconis as the evil Insectoids leader from Insectoid Invasion was also part of my headcanon even as a kid, before I knew about the lore of their shared homeworld--I was going entirely on the shared UFO/Insectoids armor piece! Some additional lore and other elements of my approach have led me down a more ambiguous direction for Alpha, but I always loved that idea.
      Working on the UFO videos has me really excited to tackle Insectoids, though I think I'll probably jump back to cover the other Space factions first. There ended being even more lore overlap between the UFO and Insectoids characters than I was expecting, though, so there'll still be plenty of great Insectoids stuff there!

      Thank you so much! The intro is a bit of fan fun inspired by the official Space Police Log videos from 2009, but the goal here was to summarize all the relevant LEGO sources for Blacktron from over the years. Putting them together into a coherent framework requires a bit of assumption to tie them all together, but everything should be grounded in the video games, magazines, videos, catalog blurbs, and comics released since the 1980s. I tried to note all the sources within the video itself, but if you have any questions about particular sources, let me know! Always love directing folks towards LEGO lore. 😁

      I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on this, but think we might actually be on the same page here. There are contradictory indications that Galaxy Squad (and its sequel, Ultra Agents) takes place both before and after the main Space themes. I ended up going with the earlier date for my theme timeline video, so to be consistent I'm assuming that the Evil Mech was a product of a very early, Gen-0 or proto Blacktron and that its creation and battle with Billy Starbeam occurred a very long time after the invasion in Galaxy Squad.
      But I'm always interested in further timeline thoughts, and it really only matters if you want to take a small story notion from a random sticker book into account. (And here at LoreEscape, we definitely read all the sticker books, lol.)
