I went down this same road with my Colt kit M16A1 603. I used the Brownells barrell just like yours. Enjoy your rifle project. I can't wait to see it get done. Cher's
Thanks for the reply Kamaseye, I’d love to see how your rifle turned out. It sure has been a fun build, I am really looking forward to see how my lower looks and get it all together. Do a quick video on yours and let us see!
@@n721swI eventually got a green mountain 1-14 barrel for it. Also, to your M4 feed ramp question. Idk if anyone answered. But the barrel extension can have the feed ramps. It's if they ALSO continue into the upper that was the change for the M4. True rifle uppers don't have them continue into the upper.
Port door isn’t suppose to be the same color as the receiver since they are two different types of metal. The receiver is anodized and the port door is parkerized.
I got a feeling psa will be coming out with the lower you like my be a 601 because there partnered up with NDS and they made most if not all the retro lowers and uppers for brownells ..the upper you have is H&R so if you want a good fit psa has the H&R lowers so I would keep them the same ..I pretty sure I'm starting another build after I finish my dissipator more than likely 723 .. hope they do come out with the 601 stuff 🤞the 723 is to give me something to do to ..to get to the 601 😆
Thanks for the reply, I just wish PSA would crank up the production of the retro stuff, I cant catch the A1 gray lowers in stock. Good luck with you build, would love to see it.
That's good stuff! I actually bake all my metal parts, I didn't show it in the video, but I baked the cover on 225 for an hour and it has a bullet proof finish. I should have shown that process. I even put the stock in the over on 175 for 20 minutes at a time, being careful not to burn/melt something,
12238 on your barrel is the government manufacturer CAGE code for Brownells Inc.
Envy... 🤤
Two great sources for these parts are..Retro Rifles and Tony's customs. Good luck with your build
Thanks for the tip, I’m gonna go check them out.

How are you guys getting these parts! I’m trying to get the A2 upper and I keep missing them!
You got to keep a close eye on PSA’s website, they pop up every other week seems like, but get sold out in a couple of hours.
