When our 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing nailed a turkey vulture at 144 mph during its initial test, mangling its A-pillar and sideview mirror in the process, it may have seemed like a forbidding omen. But our Caddy shrugged off the bad mojo from that messy start to complete a trouble-free, smile-inducing 40,000-mile trial. Over the year-long love affair, the high-performance CT4-Vate up highway miles with aplomb, swept through curvy roads with precision, and challenged our long-term BMW M3for sports sedan supremacy.

I really don't get why some people are demonizing certain cars for their theoretic inability to use them in the winter. Every car is fine in snow as long as you have proper tires and you have to learn to drive
Rear wheel drive car are a different game in snow over the front wheel that is why
I had a Honda S2000. Went nowhere in the snow. Thankfully I can work from home now when it snows so it won't be a big deal. This is my next car. I have the sport trim now and love it but made the mistake of test driving the BW and now I can't wait to upgrade
The blackwing is a performer sedan. Would you critize the corvette, lamborghini, or ferrai because they aren't good in the snow.
@@blkwng81 not really, but again - it's not impossible to drive them in the snow. There is an Aston Martin DBS and 911s regularly being driven in the winter in my city
@@blkwng81 the ct4vbw is just about the perfect car but people have to bitch about something that’s all. Had to little to bitch about and he had to bring up its ability to drive in snow
After over a year of ownership I’m still in love. I went to spring mountain raceway for the V academy and was absolutely blown away by the true capabilities of this car.

Me too it’s my favorite car to drive by far because I can actually stomp on it and throw it around. It’s like a full size go kart
@@THE_A.RAVEN1 i agree, it’s far more nimble than my previous 350 Mustangs. Then on the highway I can cruise well over 100 and it’s rock solid. Even more than my previous 911 C4S.

@@justinbecker4772 That's up to the buyer, but unfortunately you're not getting a luxury sedan with a V8 under $90k anymore from anybody. The CT5-V is larger if you're okay with no V8 (or 6MT) at least without being significantly more pricey.

@@ianautry941 how are the shifts when in manual mode? I want the 10 speed over the 6-speed there's too much traffic in my city.
They are very quick. You can change settings in your V mode and My mode as far as how it shifts. It also has a "Performance Shift" mode when you are driving it hard. It tends to hold it in a lower gear longer in that mode. I got the auto as it is my daily and I wanted the radar cruise control. I generally just leave it in auto and shift with the paddles when I want to play around.

Not really into domestic makes but, this is on my radar. When I'm done with my TLX (after years of Honda-Acura products), this could be the next move. Well done Caddy!!

Great looking car, until you get over to the rear end. The design language just lacks continuity.
Wish a v8 in it? Sure but no. V6 been kicking v8 ass for some time now. Sure the v8 is the v8 but this is living proof the v6 are great engines no matter what they say. You didn’t blow this one up like it happened with the v8 that is hand built bla bla bla. It cost 30 k less and performance is not that different if you look at times. Do I need to say more? Ok I’ll say it. The 4 it handles better in all ways because of the excellent chassis it has and it will not be the same if the car was bigger with bigger back seat etc. the twin turbos are amazing and I drove the 5 on track and no doubt is a monster but not all in a good way. The 4 has what the 5 doesn’t and the 5 doesn’t have much the 4 has. 5 has the extra power for sure but as crazy as it sounds in this situation it doesn’t matter much because the 4 does an amazing job in putting down what it has. I was a the dealer service mine and they had a5 on the floor and a sales person there was talking me into trading my 4 for the 5. I am so glad I didn’t and I got to keep the extra 40k it would have cost me.

idk how i feel about the interior being noisy lol it kills me how much it quiets down the exhuast and I literally cant even hear other v8 cars right in front of me. Wish they would have shaved some sound deadening for weight savings

Is the Premium fuel in Michigan 91 or 93 octane?
I ask this because Arizona only has 91 octane as our highest tier. Many argue that the difference in octane rating is negligible but I disagree. Did your cohorts in California experience any variance during the 4VB's time on the West Coast sipping lesser gas?

So we have 87 (Regular), 89/91 (Plus), and 93 (Premium). We also have E85 and even E90 in some places, and the real-life octane rating of that is generally closer to 100.
Great video, too bad this car will always be the Boxster of the Blackwing range. They really should have just given it a NA V8, detuned LT4 from the C8 Corvette with 470hp would have made it much more desirable. I went to a Cadillac event with the previous gen CT4 and CT5 V and the V8 exhaust on the CT5 was so much better than the V6.
Just buy a CT5 V BW problem solved. They are trying to hit a price range. Going with a V8 increases the price substantially
@@MrMe1280Some of us want the smaller/lighter car, and I highly doubt the TT V6 is cheaper than a NA V8 that would be parts shared with the C8.
Recall back in 2018 the rumblings that Cadillac was going to have a smaller model slot in below the ATS and CTS?
Then GM/Cadillac did an about-face and renamed and repriced the CTS and ATS to CT5/4 to compete on price with vehicle segments downmarket of those originally they competed in.
The CT5/4 are nothing more than reskinned CTS and ATS models with wonky styling, a handful of extra horsepower and two extra gear cogs depending on the model chosen. The last-gen CTS was sized and priced in the market segment occupied by BMW 5 series, MB E-Class, Audi A6. Save for removal of premium content, I'm not drinking the kool-aid that a CT5 is a 3 series competitor or when the CT4 first came it was positioned as an MB A-Class, BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 competitor. The competitors moved upmarket in size, features and content and Cadillacs - save for driving well - didn't keep pace in the overall.
And the styling of the ATS stills holds better than the reskinned awkward looking CT4.
What luxury brand goes down on price instead of upping content on a model? Answer: Cadillac and its 'tweener approach with its sedans.

steering, manual, chassis 100% better people argue bmw has the better interior but if you are like me you hop in hit you music and thats it and the rest is about the driving experience
I almost got an M3 but I see them everywhere & they're not as comfortable for everyday use. I get more looks with my BW because there's not many around. I also tuned mine with JB4, down pipes & a throttle body and run around 600 hp (crank) that cost me 5k (well worth it). I also like that long term the cost of ownership + maintenance will be lower being a GM product vs. high German costs..

No. This car promised to paint my fence and didn't show up on the scheduled day. It showed up 3 days late. Unreliable for sure.
Yeah, the vaccines are for kids. I don't really can't sit back there. My daughter rides up front. Nobody really rides in a bag unless my older daughter is with me. And she rides in the bag she fits very well because she's a little person

Couple more thoughts from an owner...
-AKG audio is disappointing
-Interior is a 50/50 mix of luxury and GM parts pin
-Small fuel tank just like the 5
-Paint scratches and chips really easy(PPF and/or Ceramic needed)
Small tank? Really? I think from memory its 18.5 gallons. That's plenty big for a car of this size. Granted, cruising range could be better, likely if they downsized from a 3.6L to a 3.0L like much of the competition.
I find the AKG is superior to the Bose, it's adequate. Remember, its the standard audio. The German's often charge for upgraded audio.

its not the fuel tank size (which is big) its the low MPG of this powerful engine lol. I swear the NA V8 would've still been more fuel efficient than this.
Owner here as well:
- Agree on the AKG audio. My previous BMW's HK speakers were better.
- Agree on interior. Mine has some rattles and creaks I've remedied with foam.
- I get around 260 miles to a full tank (avg 14-16mpg with the manual).
- Mine is fully PPF'd.
0 regrets choosing this over a G80 M3 manual. Now a should I have gotten a ZL1? Maybe lol
$7,000 in body repairs in a single year. Someone has to say it - your employees are bad drivers.
That's kinda par for the course when you put 40k on a car in a year. People are going to be thrashing it

neat car, but who wants the GM "fall apart" that happens right around warranty expiration. Same price is a BMW M2. Seeing as my Suburban just got towed out of my driveway, my money went to BMW...
Dude the Cadillac is way cheaper to maintain, replace, and repair than a M2 or any modern bimmer.
Also every old BMW I’ve seen is falls apart. Yes BMWs have better initial quality but long term they start to fall apart and become quite unreliable and expensive to maintain.
How many miles were on your suburban? Mine has 90,000 and is still doing good.

Market probably puts it a bit below 60k. Not bad for 40k hard miles.
About $8k in options isn't a lot for this segment. Also, dont forget the car comes with a nearly $4k driving school for FREE.
Best spec is base spec. I've tried both. Don't waste your money on useless stickers and colorful plastic seats.

Would have made the car heavier; impacts handling. The 4 is designed as a mid-size sedan; not a full-size.

@@krasnaludek298 LT1 weighs the same as the LF4, its just corporate $$ strategy.
LF4 is simply the stronger motor. Way more torque and about the same HP. I beat a catless headers c7 the other day ... Downpipes and e85, plus with them being tuneable now, these things get faster for way less money than an LT1.
I always see elderly people in these, who "just wanted a Cadillac", but this is what they were sold.

They look very similar. My 23 blackwing doesn't have any badges on it telling you it's a blackwing. Look for the black vent behind the front wheel
@blkwng81 Really? They started added Blackwing badging on the rear in 23. You should be able to get a free badge from Cadillac if yours doesn't have it.

With General Motors average reliability and perfomance reord. and it's piss poor resale value why would anybody spend a $100,000 when their are better vehicles to choose from.

The CT4 Blackwing does not cost 100k. 70-75k fully loaded. But yeah, the depreciation on these cars is rough.

Haven't driven a Quadrifoglio. But on the road, they don't look that special. CT4 is more rare and especially the blackwing has more vibe to it.
