Real talk, I neeeeeeever saw this as a diss to anyone he named. It's forgotten that the core of hip hop was competition. Hip Hop was and still is a competitive genre. That's why when he said "I'm usually homeboys with the same niggas I'm rhymin wit/But this is Hip Hop and these niggas should know what time it is..." and the finished his list of names with "this is competition, I'm tryin to raise the bar high, who's tryin to jump and get it?" I was like OH, HE ISSUING A CHALLENGE!!😮 He's saying I'm trying elevate this genre that pays us from the space it's in to something greater. BUT, it being competition he had to throw down that quick slap. People put their best work and go the hardest they FEEL someone going at their neck.
