  • Hello everyone, first I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for subscribing to the channel!
In this video I will demonstrate the progress that I have made with the vehicle over the past few months of ownership.
I will be covering how to change/ remove the axle shafts and the differential gasket.
Huge shout out our friends over at RedBird Speed .com for custom making our axle shafts, very professional, knowledgeable, & fast shipping!
Also another huge shout out to our local axle shop here in Tulsa, (Axle transmissions & transfers- lewis ) for taking great care of me and for the fast turnaround on pressing the bearings.
Enjoy the video, & follow me on instagram at DLT_1109

Some dummy put some drums on my 65 Cutlass Convertible with a smaller center hole than Oldsmobile axle and front hubs, and none of the nearby parts stores have brake drum pullers for rent, so I was just going to pull the axles because I have fully set up rear 11" backing plates I could install, and then I remembered that 4 bolt flange system on the Buick Olds and Pontiac. I checked your video to confirm what I already knew. LOL

How much gear fluid did you put back into the diff when you were all done the install?

The 60s Buick Olds Pontiac holds 2 quarts, or until you can touch it with your pinky finger in the fill hole.

Did you have to remove the c clips on the axle ends?

@@grumpyek my 71 did not come with c clips. I kept looking for them but my year and model did not have any.

Can you just replace the seal only?

I couldn’t find any oem. So I ended up replacing the whole axle shaft

What’s the part number for the axle

My apologies for the delayed response. I don’t recall the part number but give Redbird speed shop a call 260-301-2424 tell them what year & model you have & they should be able to help you out. Paid in full ahead of time and if I’m not mistaken delivery took 10-15 business days!
