    The problem is that Wrathion misunderstood the mind of Garrosh. Garrosh is the kind of guy who you can hand just about any weapon to and he'll know how to appropriately use it. If, however, you give him a multi-step plan with a nebulous end goal - he is more likely to just punch you in the face

    It's kind of explained that of the infinite versions of Garrosh out there, ours was basically the only one who would choke out the time traveling bronze dragon and just do his own thing. Worked out for us, though. We sharpened our steel against the Iron Horde and used that strength to finally beat the shit out of the Legion.

    Flawed interesting characters used to be more common in WoW, but usually the writers lose their damn minds and flanderize the character in which their flaws are forgotten about or they go insane so the compelling part of their character is forgotten about. Wrathion is probably gonna become one of these two in the future, either an edgy Anduin or Deathwing 2.0, just give the writers enough time.

      I mean, we did beat them and Sargeras aswell, the Legion is gone for good. I have a theory that since this invasion came after a such a short time since the previous one in Warcraft III, the Legion didn't had time to fully prepare for it, unlike in WC3 were they waited and prepared for 10.000 years. It was too soon for another invasion and not only it failed but they also got invaded on their own world. Wration indirectly causing it to be "rushed" may have worked in our favor.

    9:56 The thing is, I can understand those people not willing to do PvP for a legendary item. In Destiny 1 and 2 we had similar problems with strong exotics (legendaries) which were good in both PvE and PvP to require playing PvP content. And the people that are absolutely horrible at PvP were simply either unable to get them in a reasonable amount of time or didn't even try to get them because of the PvP parts.
    For those wanting to know, those 2 exotics were Hand Cannons. In Destiny 1 it was Thorn (earn Points by killing Guardians in PvP with Void Damage - around 5h of grinding when being a good player) , in Destiny 2 it was Last Word (kill 20 guardians with Hand Cannons).

    • @gstellar96
      @gstellar96 Před 2 lety +5

      Yeah I don't think his plan was stupid I just think he was misguided since his big plan in pandaria failed spectacularly not because of anything he did. He spent that entire time playing both sides so that they could end the war and focus on the invasion of the legion but at the very last second Varian doesn't end the fight and proclaims peace when most likely someone or multiple war chiefs just take their place and the war continues for a long time and if Varian couldn't finish it then no way was anduin going to. Garrosh as horrible as he is would get the job done of finishing the war and be perfect to lead the upcoming war against the legion as long as he had a big enough army, and he just so happens to be teamed with a bronze dragon so going through time and allowing Garrosh to gather enough orcs to lead a threat against the legion isn't a bad idea either. And after the war with the legion where a large amount of the orcs that he gathered would no doubt be slaughtered and Garrosh would have served his purpose Wrathion could easily double cross him and either kill or imprison him and finish off what remained of the iron legion and either choose the rest of the horde or alliance whoever he wished

  • @biropgrules
    @biropgrules Před 2 lety +2

    you know, while the Alliance had the upper hand, there is no guarantee the Horde would have lost the subsequent battle of Orgrimmar. at the very least, it's fully possible vol'jin and sylvanas along with the rest of the leaders would have killed Varian and jaina right then and there, regardless of wheter or not the alliance would have beaten the horde rebellion or not up above. Like im not arguing which is the better choice or not, but to treat this like a situation where the Horde would absolutely have crumbled if Varian had only chosen to strike is not a certainty. It's a possibility, and you could argue a big possibility, but again, what if they lose. what if the big battle happens, and the horde Rebellion's forces crush the alliance forces(with huge casualites certainly, but still) and kills Varian and Jaina, along with who knows how many alliance leaders.
    Yes, the alliance would probably be in a good position to force a peace, even if they lose this hypotetical battle(I really wish we actually knew the full numbers of both forces here, along with the full population of orgrimmar, which would most certainly join in the fight, turning this hypotetical scenario into even more of a bloodbath for both sides), simply due to how devastated the horde is at this point. but it's not necessarily the best option. It IS an option, but it's not the only one.
    Mind you, i like that the characters in story has an opinion on this, but i really dislike everyone treating this as "Varian had certain victory within his grasp", when its more "Varian had a shot where he MIGHT have had complete victory in his grasp, and he ultimatly chose not to act on that possibility". There is a big difference here.
    He might have won a total victory, or he might have lost, and had his entire army defeated, which even if he did horrible damage to the Horde capital and its army and population might mean that the alliance would have been forced to make peace anyway, just due to having lost most of its military capacity. Again, this would be so much easier to say if we just had the army numbers of the forces involved, and how many of the total armed forces of both sides were canonically involved in the battle.

    Also side note, Muehzala wanted Sylvannas as Warchief so he whispered in Voljin's ears that she would be the next leader. Which is what allowed the Jailer to influence her into burning Teldrassil. Which wouldn't have happened, if Guldan didnt open the portal for the Legion's return. Which also wouldnt have happened, if Garrosh didnt go back in time. Garrosh's plan in Draenor was to unite the Orcs and take over Azeroth without the Demon Blood aiding them. But it didnt work because Garrosh had already united both factions with one goal in mind his death. If Wrathion was as wise as he claimed to be at the time, he would have realized the flaws of his plan and stopped Kairoz. Would the Legion have returned? Maybe. But at least then the forces of Azeroth wouldnt have been whittled down due to constant war.

    Okay, Asmon is either misremembering, or didn't know what the legendary cloak was like for. People didn't want to quit because they had to do a battleground. People didn't quit because they had to do 2 battlegrounds. It's because you had to WIN 2 battlegrounds. Which, for my server, meant at least 10 games per 1 win (AFKs, trolls, etc vs people who desperately wanted to win). It took me 49 games to get 2 wins, and both of those wins we had everyone actually try to win.
    Most of my games had 3-5 people AFK in base.

    You DO know that Wrathion is NOT Deathwing's son?
    There is no in-game proof that Nyxondra mated with Neltharion (as he usually beats the shit out his girls when he's hard, not many survive and yet she looks fine).
    Nor proof that Rheastrasza somehow got her hands on Deathwing juice to fertilize the egg.
    Maybe he just calls him "father" as all red dragons call Alexstrasza "mother" because, well, dragons.
    Wrathion seems to be a random heritage black dragon that's obssessed with surpassing his "father" and his deeds.

    Remember, in High Mountain, when we meet Ebyssian, if you are on your way out of the cave, there's a guy lurking in the shadows. If you went up and talked to him, he was a member of Wrathion's Black Talon's. He tells you nothing's going on. Yeah, he's got his spies when we meet Ebyssian. That's why there's a bit of animosity with us (Alliance) when all that stuff starts, we've found another black dragon and one MUCH older than he is.

    I hate the narrative that Sylvanas just changed her mind because she grew a conscience. She changed her mind because from the start she had an agreement with the jailer about breaking the cycle, and how things would go a specific way. Instead the jailer says "nah lol. Cycle keeps going, I'm just in charge now and it'll be even shittier." She's supposed to just be okay with that? Her reasons are entirely selfish, but it doesn't just happen out of nowhere.
    Sylvanas is still a selfish idiot, but saying she just changed her mind out of nowhere because muh redemption is just wrong. She was lied to. She's an idiot for falling for it, but that changes nothing.

But threatening to quit the game period rather than do the quest is just silly. (but I'm too weak to even write a wall of text explaining how amazing Wration is, being the only dragon that punched an Old God in the face and all while the others fidgeted with their talons when Azeroth was literally having a creeping carnivore herpes all over her face... ugh... 🚑)
    Augh... no wonder... it was a ROGUE ONLY quest-line. Rogue is the only thing I never leveled up because I ran out of space in my character list and I found them to be the least interesting class to play. Bleugh...
    18:52 In his defense, Lei'shen ate the heart of Ra'den to obtain his powers, so basically only ate the power of Azeroth's titanic watcher of Thunder and Wrathion took it for himself, and none of this ever pans out, but Wrathion should've been given a power up related to Thunder if so. Lei'shen only wanted to continue the work of the Titans that the apathetic Ra'den gave up, but of course been educated in warmongering society of the Mogu would make him to tyrannize everybody now that he had the titanic power of Thunder to command. It really is odd that Ra'den could have survived enough until BfA before N'zoth invaded everything, with people wondering who was him because he was a bonus boss on Heroic Throne of Thunder that only pro guilds could defeat.
    24:11 The Varian from Wrath of the Lich King (during Trials of the Crusade at least) had more BALLS that even Tirion had problems to control to avoid the Alliance burninate the Horde over there 🤣
    27:50 "forced pregnancy"? lol this demonstrates that Wrathion is not stupid. This only demonstrates that Christie Golden is an idiot that was given power to rewrite everything that has already transpired 🤣The characters are not in blame! 👀
    34:08 Yes, creating not only duplicates of "warlords" but also many duplicates of the "warlords" of the enemy was also another risk. Bear in mind that the Legion is a constant force unbound by the timelines because the Twisting Nether works like that, and only can exist one single Kil'jaeden to conquer all of those alternate worlds, but you can produce another Kil'jaeden by turning the former Eredar magus into another demonic warlock. I still fail to see what did Wrathion wrong. It's all Christie Golden's fault, because he uses this plot-hole (or "Wrathion was too stupid to see it") to create another Gul'dan, but this Gul'dan from this timeline should have yielded too ANOTHER ARCHIMONDE AND KIL'JAEDEN the same way there was a second Velen too (even if for a moment). The plot-holes amount to over 9000 on this one, and not because Wrathion is dumb, but because the author is chronically plot-blind, tried to pull a Marvel AU move and was found wanting 🙄
    34:40 Also, let's not forget that Wrathion presence in WoD is reduced to just perching on top of a billboard before leaving during one of the "NEW SHAVEN KHADGAR" quest-line. This also speaks volumes of why Wrathion didn't do anything when everything started to go south with Gul'dan doing his shenanigans and giving the Legion a more powerful foothold to invade Azeroth. Is not that he didn't want to prevent it, it's because HE WAS LITERALLY WRITTEN OFF THE PLOT because he was too smart to control, and Christie Golden knew it when he received harsh critique on his War Crimes book 🤔 To write smart shrewd characters you must be one, and Christie is all but shrewd; he's too bland to even reach those levels of complex mental gymnastics.
    35:03 Told ya 🐸
    35:20 WAIT A SECOND. I never played the alpha so I didn't know this. Ebyssian is literally an ass pull on the last moment! I love this character but I found odd that his dragon had the same UNIQUE CHARACTER TRAIT (being purified Black Dragon -- that was said already that was hard to achieve without the help of a Titan artifact) and that he was never known to anybody, not even the black dragons, and that Wrathion was never present to correct the presence of the Legion, DESPITE IT BEING THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF HIS ENTIRE EXISTENCE AND MOTIVES AS CHARACTER. But now that I know Wrathion was REPLACED in presence by Ebyssian, NOW EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE (and my theory that Christie is too dumb to control Wrathion stands). Now I see the whole set of the falling pieces, and I'm even more disappointed and more encouraged to defend Wrathion from this dumb writter of third rate novels.
    37:28 And here it stands, being victim of bad writers not doing their proper research on their OWN SOURCE MATERIAL. Wrathion should have the titanic power of THUNDER and he's not seen using it at all, as if all what transpired on Pandaria, eating Lei'shen's heart and all the stuff with Ra'den (BEING KILLED ON PURPOSE TO DON'T BRING BACK THE FACT THAT HIS POWERS SHOULD BE COURSING THROUGH WRATHION'S BODY) is omitted by the new writers. It's horrible, but that doesn't make Wrathion a stupid character. He was shrewd to a fault, got a ton of talkie-talkie wisdom to rein his "wrath" against everything that was threatening Azeroth, and now we need to chug Sabellian just BECAUSE. For all what I care even the Netherdrake should be present in Dragonflight as they are also CHILDREN OF THE BLACK DRAGONFLIGHT. But whatever, what can one do with crummy writers who never played WoW since BC. I'm very sure they picked up a Fandom page about how many black dragons existed out there in the franchise, saw Sabellian and called it a day, without nigh a single context to suppor that he's still ALIVE and not DEAD as per all the quests we do in Blade's Edge Mountains.
    Interesting video and well made (sans the typos), but I see a tendency to avoid the real culprits in Wrathion's blunders. Anyways, moving on. I don't even know how I managed to stay awake with half my blood gone last night.

  • @kurtslavain
    @kurtslavain Před 2 lety +1

    I get Blizzard's decision for Varian to spare the horde leaders from a gameplay perspective. If he just ended the horde(or the war, for that matter), how would Blizzard justify having the horde as a faction that's waging war against the Alliance in the next expansion? If there's no war, there's no PvP and WoW would be just WoC(World of Cratf) xD
    I guess the horde could rebuild itself from scrap(which in my opinion would make a better story) but the writers didn't want to bother, cause that's a lot of work. Cause you gotta invent new fully-fleshed characters to become the new leaders and you gotta think of a new reason/occasion to restart the war. Maybe revenge for their fallen predecessors or liberation from Alliance rule, idk.

    I also disagree that Wrathion is an idiot, he simply miscalculated. He underestimated the level of tomfoolery that Garrosh would get up to. It's honestly similar to a thing that happens in Overlord, where someone does something neither Demiurge nor Albedo understood or expected. It's not because they're stupid or he's smarter, quite the opposite. He's literally SO STUPID that someone doing what he did didn't cross their mind, even when they basically think of everything. This is a similar situation, Wrathion was acting with logic and planned with that in mind. That was the problem, Garrosh doesn't think with logic especially not on as grand a scale, he acts. And so naturally what happens happened, was it a bad idea to let Garrosh cook? Yeah, but Wrathion isn't omnipotent expecting him to forsee Garrosh doing basically the opposite of what he should have done and failing in doing so is a bit much.
