The moment that the totality ends and the light starts peaking back through was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen

It's such a simple thing. Highly predictable and extremely well understood. No factual mystery to it, but for some reason it impacts us so deeply. Something about it inspires feelings that can't be put into words.

0:10 "Is it me you're looking for?"
That is just spectacular the way the clouds move out of the way right as totality happens.

Nobody did a pan of the horizon to show the 360 degree twilight either, or got shadow bands, or the shadow approaching from the west. Those are neat effects as well, and are not to be missed.

We live in AZ (Cordes Lakes), and had 75% coverage at maximum eclipse. Had some clouds. Projected the eclipse on the side of the house with our telescope, and took pictures of that, since we couldn't look at it. We have a bunch of pictures showing the progression of the eclipse. We're going to Dallas in 2024 to catch totality.

And the USA dosen't get that many. The last notable one the USA had was the annular eclipse in 2012, which was a "ring of fire" eclipse. It couldn't be looked at without the glasses for the entire thing, because technically it was a partial eclipse.

Because the moons orbit is a few degrees off of Earth's and it's orbit is elliptical. Eclipses only happen on new moons. So that means eclipses can only happen ever few years or so when when the Moon is aligned at the correct angle between the Earth and sun.
