We explore an abandoned neo-gothic manor that was built in 1811 in the style of a castle.
It sits beside the lake with over 200 years of history.
Lived in until 2015, its weathered walls and crumbling turrets show its now state of decay. Abandoned and isolated, it sits silently.
Touched by only natural decay, its ornate ceilings and peeling walls hold on to its original grandeur.
Join us as we tour this beautiful forgotten country manor.

My sister and brother used to stay here in the 1960s when it was a YHA Hostel. The last time I walked past it was about 2005, I was visiting a friend who lived in a boathouse on the lake, the elderly gentleman who lived here ( I think on his own at that time ) was struggling to move a large log and we gave him a hand. He said he had been living there for 40 years and didn't remember it as a youth hostel when my sister told him she had stayed there as a teenager.
Are you sure he wasn't a ghost?😳
@samandjessexplore just to let you know that is a blank I can tell by the folded end
tbe owner was beaten up and attacked by burglars the house was then sold and has obviously been left to rot sadly
With all the madness going on, it's great to escape it with your chill out videos, which I watch on my TV in the bedroom
That's good to hear, glad you enjoy them 😊🙏 Thanks for the support! 😃
@@Samandjessexplore your welcome. Have to say I have watched others yet yours has style
@@Samandjessexplore do you close windows and doors as you leave? Would be just a small thing to do to keep the elements out a little more
Another beautiful old building going to waste. What a stunning location too. It needs to be bought up and given the attention it deserves. Your videos never disappoint. Thanks for another great explore
Love this old place but it looks spooky too you two always do a great job on your explores thanks once again for taking me along.
That was so awesome! I especially loved the fact there was no graffiti and vandalism done there. It's so disappointing when you go to explore somewhere and someone really destroys the place. I agree that it's a shame no one bought the place and renovated it. It's such a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing that. Stay safe and God bless you all.
Thank you from New Zealand, I wouldn't get to see this kind of stuff otherwise. Loving what you do 💖🙏
Glad you enjoy it Annette 😊 Thank you for your support 🥰
Looks so awesome. You guy’s deserve a tv show/documentary of your travels to some of these majestic places. Love the content 🤙🏾.

I love castles. All the histories! Really magnificent windows and archways. The workers were artists!
Wow, you've done it again and presented us with an incredible building. Thank you for all your work. I wonder if it was being done up and then the people ran out of money. Sending love from Australia.

Wow! So excited 💜
That was lovely! Of course we want you to go back and show us what is underneath. You can see how beautiful it once was. I’m always wanting someone to save these old homes. Wish I had that kind of money. I’m a dreamer. Lol so enjoyed this. You two alway make a wonderful explore!
Thank you very much Shelley 🥰 That is lovely. Glad you enjoyed the video!
What a brilliant explore you guys have been on with this one , what a wonderful castle, what a pity its going the way it is what a shame !!
Really enjoy your vids guys. Great one this is too
I want someone to buy it and renovate it for me....not much to ask is it?
Great video! Trying to cover such a huge building is hard work and takes planning, all of which you accomplished quite well. Your reactions to the features are priceless. If you ever make it to the U.S. there are some Ghost Towns out West you need to check out. And if schedules work together I'd like to take to a few. Keep safe and good hunting!
That double headed eagle with the Crown on their necks is a symbol of the scottish (free)masons. As a symbol, the double headed eagle stands for the union of body and spirit. In other words, the ealge represents mankind's dual nature as both a physical and a spiritual being, who must choose good over evil. The double headed eagle of Lagash is associated with Scottish Rite Masons.
Man? You guys are really brave to go down in that hole. This is a grand, grand mansion. I can imagine what it must have looked like in its day. Loved the big pink and green room!
This is incredible,.. Amazing video
I love the respect you show to the places you explore.
What a great explore! Looks like it may have been some type of school way back in the day. Your lady is so brave and adventurous. I am impressed!
Thank you Patricia! Glad you enjoyed the video 🥰

Nobody going to comment on Jesse managing to put a whole strawberry in her mouth 🤣😂 🤣😂

I'm always amazed at the ways you guys make it into places that don't have an open door policy 🙃

What an absolutely stunning place ❤
Fantastic to see, wouldn't have done without you!
Wow amazing castle look so sad but is beautiful place I really love your videos God bless everyone from Houston Texas
Hi Sam and Jess. This was a first time watching one of your video's. That castle is really beautiful in the state it is in now. But in days passed it would of been an incredible to live. It's a shame someone does not buy it and re do it up in the same decor as it was in the day. I think I am going to watch your channel from the beginning, because I really enjoyed watching today, and as the way the world is at the moment I think we need something like your channel to keep us all sane. You both Take Care and be Safe. Love Susan from Cumbria xx
Glad to have you here Susan and pleased that you enjoyed the video!
It is such a shame to see these wonderful places fall into disrepair, much too often too!
Thank you for your support 😊🙏
So excited 🤗🍿☕
BRILLIANT , No one knows the history , or who owns it. l live down the road from this , and walk pass it every weekend, would be great filmed in the Summer
I love 💘 💗 abandoned old castle's. What 😳 a stunning place. I love 💘 the stained glass windows 😍 ♥
What a place well done love your videos keep going
Amazing place such a shame its inso much decay fantastic video thanks
Well done loved it.
The guy who owned this hall was held hostage for days by burglars! After that he abandoned the hall and never went back!
Hi Sam and Jess, great drone footage and lovely location, looking at those yummy strawberries made me feel hungry.
Amazing Castle and grounds so please you was able to get in.
Some of the architectur and windows in the building were incredible what a shame to see it decaying, l wonder if this was a care home at one time, hope something can be done to bring this beautiful castle back into use one day, really enjoyed watching your video and again thanks for sharing it,amazing find.
Glad you enjoyed it Martin 😊 It has been many things over the years!
Thank you for your support 😃
This is the second video that I have watched and fell in love with this castle. You all do a spectacular job. Can I suggest an ideal? Is there anyway possible that you can find out more about a location you are going to explore? This way your viewers will be so informed. Thank you for sharing I can’t wait to see your next video
It would be interesting to know the history on these places that we explore with y
y'all.
cant wait!
New subscriber, awesome and great explore guys!!
Pleased to have you along, thanks for the sub 🥳 Glad you enjoy the videos!
Does jess not feel the cold she never wears a jacket lol love the explores x
Apparently not, she's a strange creature indeed 😂 Glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for the support 🥰🙏
@@Samandjessexplore awww she's not strange she's a beautiful soul xxxx
What is quite fun is I recognize bird calls. I'm in USA but I know what is out there. Amazing tour and thank you. 🐟
Beautiful
Now that's epic
Many of the windows are so small it had to be “gothic-ly” dark without electric lighting. The fireplaces are so small it would seem the high-ceilinged rooms must have felt damp and chili. Such a variety of decor from over the years. I think the Adams family would feel right at home here; the Munsters, too. 😊
Wow! You guys are brave! 😮
Amazing views
S & J, I love Old seeing Old Castles, also love your voice- on the Intro. Be careful and safe! Robin/ USA 🇺🇸❤️✨🙏👍📹
I love your chanel and it's great to see explorer's wearing clothing that suits what your doing safety is overlooked too often ,protect them feet with good quality boots ,top job Sam and Jess. Stay safe and keep the quality content coming, I'm from Yorkshire and we have so many places you would love to explore, hope we can have a coffee sometime and a good chin wag
Glad you enjoy the videos man! Appreciate that 😊 We love it in Yorkshire, will definitely be back soon 😊
Omg it's beautiful castles are my weakness ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So heart breaking to see these types of places just left to rot, really sad
yup someone owns it probably can't afford to renovate it and leaving to rot like nannau hall
Thankyou for showing us this interesting but now sad old place. It is such a shame to know that these places are just rotting away even though we know that it is the nature of life for things to change & decay to occur.
What an amazing find, Beautiful building, should really be preserved and utilised , would love the chance to photograph it myself, any chance of a pm with location please
on a side note. a walk-through these old places stir up air bourne spores associated with any mold/moisture and the lead based paint that is falling off the ceilings and walls; wearing a mask would be a good idea.
I agree with you ,it looks like a Princesses castle.save the doors ,windows, the beautiful stained glass ,the fireplaces . love the staircase.gut the inside redo it like before then sand blast the outside. It would be beautiful again.property is great too.👍❤️❤️🇺🇸great find.
Absolutely beautiful castle shame it's been abandoned.
