Opposition seeks migration cut to let state and local governments 'catch up'

  • Nationals Leader David Littleproud joined Sky News Australia to discuss the Opposition’s budget pledge to reduce permanent migration rates.
    “This is where you’ve got to have immigration policy that looks at the priorities and the leadership that has the courage to make those decisions,” he said.
    “We’ve got to buy time, we’ve got to buy time for our state and local governments to catch up.
    “Not to put more pressure of 1.67 million new people coming into this country, a city bigger than Adelaide, without a place to house them or the skills to build roofs to put over their heads.”

    How can they catch up when theres a massive skills shortage in the construction industries.
