I agree about Pestilence. I think it's also underrated. It's pretty weak the first time you cast it, but if it sticks, it becomes a multi-use Earthquake, which is pretty bonkers.
Pestilence + Will O' Wisp/Drudge Skeletons
I remember not understanding why Pestilence was only Common. It was so powerful and a staple in my old control-centered decks.
@@jagtaggart936 A few people tried to make it work in casual constructed but it always went away and the lock broke. It was extremely dominant in Limited (draft, sealed, grandmaster). But in late 94/early 95, the tournament play was focused more and more around creatureless decks.
That all black border core set Black Aggro/Midrange deck is beautiful! I could look at that black beauty all day. Very cool match! Thanks Timmy for this very enjoyable video.
Agreed, that deck is pure art!
This video made me want to buy Demonic Hordes. Cool card!
It did work at this event 🔥
@@TimmytheSorcerer I'm going to pick one up soon.
Paralyze could actually have some unexpected consequences for the caster, due to the way the card works. The enchantment actually untaps the creature any time you pay 4 during the upkeep. So, if your opponent unknowingly put two of these on a Demonic Hordes, for example, the player controlling the Hordes could actually do the following (assuming they 8 mana to do so):
• Tap for 8 mana.
• Tap DH to destroy land.
• Pay 4 to untap DH. Tap DH to destroy a 2nd land.
• Pay 4 to untap DH. Tap DH _again_ to destroy a _3rd_ land.
• Don't pay DH upkeep. Lose a land.
Or similar shenanigans with other tap abilities, like Royal Assassin. Likewise, you could also Paralyze your own creature for the same effect, acting as a costly Instill Energy.
Now that’s a game plan! 🔥
Although that's true, if you have Paralyze in your hand and you play it on your opponent's Demonic Hordes and you didn't do your job with land destruction...you kinda deserve what ya get.
Ahhhh...the memories ! 🔪....😂🤣😅😆😁. Have a great wwek. 🤘🦁🤘
Looking forward to next year 🧟♂️
@@TimmytheSorcererdat het een mooi jaar mag worden ! ❤
Xenic Poltergeist is interesting with your own Icy Manipulator.
Also great against moxen and could be interesting in combination with pestilence to deal with artifacts.
@@TimmytheSorcerer I think Gorilla Shaman from Alliances, a one drop, was so-so against mana rocks. A three mana Poltergeist is probably very slow and unfortunately at 1/1, has a very narrow use. After all, the biggest advantage to 0 mana cost mana rocks is turn 1.
I guess the Drunken Sailor went to the disco! 🎶
😂
up the mono black decks, my deck is mix of landestroyer, agro and "discard deck"( i dont know say in english) Thanks and long life for Timmy the sorcerer channel, saludos from Spain amigo.
🙌
@@TimmytheSorcerer I have some doubts, why do they only use 1 stripmine? Why don't they put at least one Nightmare? Why don't they use the nevirinal disc? Nethling IMP and Sorceres Queen would fit well in those decks, and hym to tourach? don't you think? Sorry for the errors, I translated on Google. Greetings
We’re playing according to the Swedish rules, meaning only 1 strip and no FE. You can find the rules details in the description of the video.
@@TimmytheSorcerer ammm ok ok, swedish rules ok, i dont remenber correctly. Thanks
Any time anyone is playing demonic hordes, I root for them, Im confused here......
I'm really surprised neither player is playing Juzam Djinn.
One player was playing core set only and the other one is playing budget 🤷♂️
@@TimmytheSorcerer That is very 94, lol. Can't afford it or can't find it.
Is there no Fallen Empires?
Nope, you can find the rules in the vid’s description.
