@@user-kf6oy1gq8v of course this happens, I eat shawarma and the restaurant I go to use very small lambs and they don’t have any smell as they sell fast so the lamb is coming every day fresh, lambs/fish /chicken most meats are better younger, this is why I hate mutton, old and smelly with very strong taste!
Danny my wife is Turkish and from Istanbul and has absolutely loved you reviewing the food from her country. We've not been to this place but next time we're salivating enough to visit. Afiyet olsun Danny .Turkish food is wonderful and the Turkish people are rightly proud of it from fresh bread right through to desserts . Many years ago i had a fresh chicken durum with salad and a freshly squeezed orange juice for a pound across from the main post office in Istanbul .It was delicious .Wonder if it is still there - if it is give it a try!

There are great options in Kartal and Pendik districts but those districts would be out of your travel hub, so try "Şehzade Cağ Kebap" in Eminönü (dont try wrap, take a portion). And of course pls do try "İskender Kebap". The main ingredient is again döner but "İskender" is also an other experience that u should have. Best place for "İskender Kebap" is the city of Bursa, but u can go "İskender İskenderoğlu" in Kadıköy, İstanbul

Certain things in Turkey are more expensive than UK now in general. I went in 2020 to this same place and got the same amount of doner 250g and it was only around £4.50 even though the convertion rate was worse back then to what is it today... Inflation has ruined Turkey. It used to be a cheap place, I been 7 times. It was one of my favourite destinations. But now it's too expensive. In 2018 I remeber paying £1.50 for full English breakfast and £2 for fish and chips, absolute bargains. My last visit to the same places in 2023 Full English is now £13 and fish and chips is £15!! You'll find cheaper Full English and fish and chips here in UK.

as a local of Beykoz, i'm proud that Bayramoğlu has crossed borders this much in terms of fame. the döner you find in Turkey would be 100 times better than anywhere in europe anyway but Bayramoğlu is also 100 times better than a regular döner shop in Turkey as well. we used to come here at least once a month back in the day but unfortunately it's waaaaay too expensive for us locals now.
There is no Döner but in Turkey, it is absolute quality taste, we have our "variants" here in Sweden but since I met my wife from Turkey and we travel there a lot, its on another level.
I imagine if Danny's friends invite him over for dinner, he shows up with his folding table and chair and sets them up out on their sidewalk and they bring out the food to him. 😂😂😂
I guess its to avoid asking for filming inside - but I do feel its 'Rate my restaurant' now. Most of us have the food after its steamed in a container, when we have a takeaway. Nice food, but I'd want to know how the bread survives the journey. Even if you scoff it outside from the wrapper.
Just a side note - What the waiter put on the salad is not balsamic vinegar, it is actually a salad sauce made from Pomegranate juice (nar ekşisi in Turkish). It's still kinda surreal seeing you at all those places that I've been to many times, enjoy!
Danny, you should learn a little Turkish, Hello / Thank you etc. I am married to a Turkish lady and have visited Istanbul and Ankara many times. It’s very easy and they do appreciate the effort.
When you go to the places in Turkey where the locals eat away from the tourist spots, you cannot beat it ! The have some of the best cuisine in the world in my opinion
Depends on where you go. In Manchester we have really good Turkish kebab houses that make their own Döner in house rather than buying it in. Chester doesn't have the multicultural communities like Manchester..Birmingham..London..so you'll struggle to get something really authentic.
I think while you are ın Turkey and taste these wonderful flavors, you can ask local people how they eat those dishes. Of course, it is best to try and interpret it in your own way, but for example, if you lift the bread on the kebab, take a bite with a fork, and then put it back on the kebab until you take the other bite, you will prevent the kebab from cooling down. This way, you will maintain the temperature of the kebab until it is finished and it will be more delicious. I don't know where you will go next, but you can use the words kokoreç, söğüş, etli ekmek, içli köfte as keywords. Of course, even if you only try döner kebab in other restaurants, you should stay in Istanbul at least 1 month :)

Finally eating a kebab in Istanbul. Been watching your Istanbul vids, suprised you went to the home country where the doner kebab was invented and it took you so long to have a kebab. This place would be my 3rd best. This is lamb kebab. My favour place was a wood fired horizontal beef kebab next to blue mosque, it'll be more expensive now as beef is more than lamb but it's the juiciest kebab meat you'll ever have and it's world famous too. 2nd favourite place is the world famous biggest donner spit. Don't remeber names. Also wish you tried adana wrap from taksim.. Its world famous too, channel 4 did a food series on it.
I go to kusadasi every year and the kebabs are worth the travel alone. I always have red melon to cool my chops down .but absolutely beautiful food. Made up you had a good time
Danny please try the normal local restaurants where they serve locally produced, seasonal products’ dishes. What I recommend is that YANYALI FEHMİ RESTAURANT in Kadıköy district. You will love.

The juice comes from the lamb, otherwise beef is too dry, personally I prefer 100% lamb donor

If turks know 2 things it's food and taking care of animals. Better than 90% of the world.
Especially the taking care of animals part is a big plus in my book

On your return home you need to plan a visit to Master Kebabs in Gillingham, Kent. Undoubtably the best place in the UK (and possibly further!).
I reckon the phenomenal service is one of the reasons that place is rammed. Looks like you're made to feel like a Prince!
