After a long re-fit, she resumed service with P&O from 1949 until 1963, when she was sold to Latsis Lines and renamed Marianna Latsi, then Henrietta Latsi, before being laid up in 1967 and finally scrapped in 1969.

My Mum and my Grandparents sailed the Strats between Tibury and Bombay (Mumbai) many times. Late in her life took her on QE2. When I asked her how she liked QE2 Mun sniffed and said "The Strathmore was far more glamourous." Miss the Mum.

A ship that was very nice-looking because of her simple, practical design.I'm glad the Strathmore didn't have any unnecessary funnels that would have been primarily for looks. To use Frank Lloyd Wright's term: "Form follows function".---Beautiful woodwork on the British liners of that era. Because of present-day safety codes I expect it's no longer possible to have.---Beautiful selection of music, I'd not heard it before.
