  • On January 11, 1944, former U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, after his State of the Union Address, FDR announced his recommendation for an Economic Bill of Rights. Some of his recommendations such a Social Security and Medicare were embraced by members of the House. Others were thought to be too socialistic and unrealistic. But giving the American working force a shot in the arm with a Living Wage, not only jump started the economy but created a large class of people who could enjoy what we now call The American Dream. Today the American Dream for most Americans is all but a memory. Since 1979, the American economy has experienced a shift of power from American interests toward the interests of large corporations. With the demise of the Middle Class and the worsening of poverty, a hand full of brave individuals and honest politicians strive to reinvigorate a populous who are angry and ready to fight back.
