- Is your truck smoking excessively? Higher than normal EGTs? Has your fuel economy dipped recently? Nick utilizes the Stealth Series Boost Tester Kit to examine just exactly why our LB7 shop truck is having drive-ability issues. Boost leaks are major culprits of the aforementioned symptoms listed above and can be easily diagnosed with proper equipment!
Fantastic! I’m new to the game and you really educate the public. Thank you
Looking forward to visiting your shop
thanks nick n crew,
Great video. I enjoy watching all of your videos. Keep up the good work. I love my lb7. So far so good. Knocking on wood
Great content guys. Keep it rolling
Huge thanks nick!!!! Love the videos 👍
Master 👍👍👍
Very cool tool! does the intake side not have to be blocked any where? I just assumed the test pressure would bleed out the exhaust. By the way - I love how you called it "boost" during the test. lol keep up the great videos!
Then engines are non-overlap so the only leakdown you experience is past the ring seal. and valve seals.
Nice thanks😊
No problem!
That’s what my 6.7 Cummins does with my 3rd gen swap. It won’t hold any presssure with the boost Leak test. But I can’t find the leak either.
My truck has a silver bullet 66/74 turbo on it. I was told I should be able to hit 50psi no problem. I can’t get it past 30 according to my tuner. 120hp tune. But no black smoke at all
That sounds more like a tuning issue.
When I bought my LB7, it had a .5" x .75" hole in the hot side charge pipe from the power steering line at the steering gearbox.
Could you see the hole without pulling the charge pipe
@@jonathanpgriffin Yes if you have the inner fender out and are looking at the top of the steering gearbox. My hot side was laying right on the steel lines. It wouldn't make any boost till about 2k rpm right where it upshifts 😅.
smoke machine ,would be cool,to visually see the leaks ,nice video guys
We love the idea of smoke machines. However, the kits we found don't go to high enough pressure to find some leaks.
@@Duramaxtuner
GM recently released a new special tool for the dealers that is a power smoke machine (GE-52250). It allows you to induce smoke into the induction/exhaust system under pressure ( pressure is adjustable). I have used it and it works well. I’m sure it is pretty penny.
Great video!!!
If your boosting 20psi your exhaust is also under 20psi. Exhaust leaks kill power on a turbo charged car
I have stock 2017 L5P that is doing a regen every 80-100 miles.....way too much. My EGT's seem fine and no noticeable smoke. I'm having hell with the DEF system....shocker I know..lol. Can a boost leak be responsible for the engine constantly overloading the DPF by running rich due to a leak?
This would be very common symptoms of a boost leak or failed DPF. Its a lot cheaper to test the boost leak.
Just got a beautiful 05 LLY with 70k
I’m going to be getting the jack spade tune from you guys! And will be picking up one of these testers, if you could PLEASE-tell me what the average boost numbers on a 05 lly? I’m only getting like 7-11 max boost. I hear some major hissing, I thought it was the turbo. But I believe it’s the upgraded intake mouth from eBay. It had no seals or anything going direct to turbo
Start here: duramaxtuner.com/turbo-chargers/stealth-series/boost-tester.html
Also, On a stock LLY you should be seeing low 20's for boost.
I bought this product for my LMM . I can not keep the o-ring in place to mount it to the turbo. Any suggestion?

Could a boost leak also lead to the trucks sound becoming substantially quieter on top of more smoke and less power than before on an lml?
Did you figure that out ? I’m having similar problems
@@wichovr6 the truck has become substantially quieter than when I first put the turbo in. But the y bridge gasket was leaking which caused the excessive smoke and drop in power and fuel economy.
I'm playing this game with my 04 Lb7. I can hear the air leaking from around the EGR valve. Local diesel shop says the valve is fine and my expectation of an air tight system is unrealistic. I lose 3 or 4 psi per second. Anyone have a suggestion?
I’ve got the same problem. Just replaced the valve and it still leaks all compressed air out the exhaust. But mine loses it all almost immediately.
Egr delete it maybe helps
What’s the max boost with the spade jack on lly? I recently purchased spade jack from you guys. Mpgs fell way down about 3-4 mpg both towing and not. Looks like boost peaks at 23 according to Edge CTS3. Is this normal?
I'm having the same problem and I'm not sure what to do
I'm thinking about your tunes for my 21 ram 3500 HO. Would you recommend an air intake with all the air talk?
Generally, a CAI will help a little with intake air temps. These trucks see the biggest benefit from tuning so if you haven't done that yet, start there.
