Thanks for the video, honest and truthful. I have been to Thailand several times with my wife. We are now retired and our desire is to spend 2/3 winter months in a location near the sea like Krabi or Hua Hin. Some expenses may be almost the same as yours, others are obviously different by age and lifestyle. My experience says that for a couple who are not young like us, an honest budget can be 2000/2200 euros per month per couple Ciao from Italy
Great video, thanks for sharing your words of wisdom. I all for helping out good quality new channels, you have earned your self a new sub 🙂 I will be moving to Thailand at the end of september and I will also be starting up a new channel 🙂
Yes this is a realistic budget. I would prob have the breakdown of figures a bit different but the total is fair. Some people say they can live like a king in Bangkok on this amount which is garbage. You are the most neglected king on the planet if you are thinking that. This is a comfortable budget but you won't be partying alot or eating in fancy restaurants too often with this budget.
True - mid-tier restaurants you can eat multiple times a week since they are below 400 THB. I've cut back on drinking so that's helped bring down my monthly budget.
@@GoBackToAsia I plan on doing the same. I struggling to do a month on $3000. That was with quite a bit of partying though. Still far from living like a king at that budget.
Electric and water included in rent ? I think food and alcohol might be a little low, really depends where you eat. I add at malls from time to time. Add $100 for those two and $100 for utilities
I would say whatever your monthly budget is for a single person, increase that by about 50% or 66%. It wouldn’t be double the costs since you gain savings by living together for example.
Hey, thanks for watching. I've been using SafetyWing for years. Most of my digital nomad friends have it as well. Plans are affordable, but it's more a catastrophic plan, ie. hospitalization from accidents unexpected events, not outpatient care. Thankfully, I've not had any incidents where I needed to use it. But I've had a few things happen to friends, one of them was hospitalized when someone crashed into him while skiing in Bulgaria. Here's my referral link if you're interested: safetywing.com/?referenceID=dt-signup&Ambassador.
400 USD on groceries per month for just one person? I cook every single day and don’t get anywhere near that amount here in Bangkok. I even get some expensive import products like parmesan cheese, olives, etc and I think I spend half, around 200USD on groceries per month. Good video otherwise!
yeah, it was general food budget, including groceries and restaurants. there was a comment earlier to break apart going-out food budget vs home food budget, but I find them so intertwined from day to day that I just lumped them together.
During the rainy season (May - Nov) it’s fine. The worst months are late Jan and the whole of Feb, all around Thailand due to crop burning. Healthcare is affordable and plentiful for expats esp in Bangkok. Not sure about other parts of Thailand
Thanks for the video, honest and truthful.

Krabi like Ko Lanta is nice! I'll also suggest one of the islands in Trat (Koh Chang, Koh Mak, Koh Kood). Best of luck!
@@GoBackToAsia thank 👍
This is AMAZING!! So comprehensive and so helpful! Sharing with my friends looking for more info on Bangkok! Thanks David!!
Thanks Christen for sharing and for watching the video! =)

For me $2,000 USD sounds reasonable. In the U.S. probably requires $4,000 USD at least.
Awesome video well done !
Yes! Thank you for watching!!
Love your content even I'm a local resident sir 💪🌱
Thank you for watching, it means a lot coming from a local resident!
BRB moving to Bangkok

@@b4bmmOnly fools think they are kings living on that budget. Southeast Asia is affordable but not that cheap.
Just subscribed!
Thank you for supporting the channel!
People might also need to include the cost of flights associated with VISA runs and the cost ot the atual renewal.
Good point, something to fit under the Misc section, but I can see breaking it out to its own category.
great point. visa run costs every 3 months
If you live a life like a local, you can even cut that in half. haha
This is very true! Thank you for acknowledging that

it all depends on the lease, but generally not. you're right - utilities will run about $100, esp during the hot season!
Thanks for the detailed budget! What do you think a reasonable budget would be for a couple?

Thank you for sharing! It's very helpful for me to plan for my move to BKK! Question: which health insurance did you get?

Great channel. What’s the air quality like in Bangkok and the other city center areas of Thailand? What’s healthcare like for retiree expats? Thanks

@@GoBackToAsiaSo I assume it is cheaper to travel during February
Wait, what gym is that?
This is a standard rate for normal gyms where you can get to any gym under that brand.
Yeah, for example Fitness First
Your alcohol budget is way too low. For me at least.🍷🍸🍹🍺🥃
that seems like a pretty modest budget. I wouldnt want to live in Bangkok on less than 3000 USD a month.
Is water safe and not causing any itch or rash?
Based on your level of alcoholism. LMAO 😂
Your budget actually matches what I'd probably spend.
Jeez, here I was thinking Bangkok was cheaper than North America.
