Actually! That sounds the current plot of Saint Seiya Episode G Assassination manga. The Knights of Athena are literally attacking on Titans, the original name of 2nd Generation Greek Gods. Some of the Knights are already Titanslayers with Thanatos, Hypnos, Enchida, and Typhoon in their achievements.

@Wind Rose Actually, most translations would properly translate 好き (suki) as "love". That's the most natural way of saying it in Japanese. 愛してる (Aishiteru) is pretty uncommon, even among actual partners. The thing is that you can also use suki to refer to friendships and even to say you like something (like food). But given the context, "love" seems the better option for that "suki".

While Asuka is a fitting depiction of a landsnecht, I'm afraid she pulls too much from the post 1560's vision of the landsnecht, after their reputation began to tank, unfairly at first.
In Dame Asuka's case, I believe the viewer is never appropriately convinced that Dame Asuka is truly the elite mercenary she is set up to be.
For the most part, she is portrayed in that depracatory manner of the landsnecht of that late era, being a self-centered, pompous, buffoonish braggart eager to prove themselves, yet regularly fails to outperform even the most humble of local militia. She possesses only the bark of a glory hound, not the bite a landsnecht should also be known for.
It would be fine if Dame Asuka were portrayed as one or the other, but by chasing both foxes it spoils the hunt in full, and we are left with an anemic character that is relatively unmoving when not involved in the slice of life, 14 year old girl segments of her being.
The basic "Squire Shinji complains, Dame Asuka jeers, La Pucelle Rei silently does it at cost of her health, sanity, and life" format is fair enough in practice, but without the viewer held expectation that Dame Asuka is actually capable of the boasts she claims, the dynamic fails to meet its weightier expectations. Dame Asuka comes off as more a yellow-livered coward, hesitant to engage in combat because she knows she will fail, which is clearly against the alleged character the landsnecht is supposed to exhibit.
Tha tapastry-bard Anno committed a story telling sin in oft telling us of Dame Asuka's combat prowess, but rarely showing it.
Thus, as any member of the patrician class can tell you, the best target for your chivalric adoration is of course Madame PenPen, who never showcases anything but esteemed love and respect to those whe serve around her, will not take advantage of thine emotions for her own fulfillment, and will not turn the lands into Tang.
The Madame Golem herself is also an acceptable target for thine chivalrous liver, for even if she is an abomination unto all that is good, decent, and holy, her motives are pure; merely to thanklessly protect the life, smile, and soul of her spawn.

@@ManticoreIndustries yup, the angels in EVA are already the Old Testament angels, mainly because all of the new Testament angels would be those humans with wings and completely white skin that are often confused with actual threats even though you can immediately tell that these are god's messengers and not the "DESTROYER OF WORLDS MADE REAL" like in the old testament, where they were usually beset by thousands of eyes and multiple sets of wings.

Seraphs of the old testament were such a nice and raw display of god's hate, and i find that cool, because that means he went through the Teenager Phase of being a creator in the belligerent eyes of the universe. he hated his creation for what it was, unruly and hateful. but then he had an epiphany and that is where the new testament starts, with his grace and his love for what he created, fully knowing what he did to them was not the right thing to do.
