- Ivabradine is an ion channel blocker that reduces pacemaker activity resulting in a decrease in heart rate. This drug block funny ion channels (If) which are activated by hyperpolarization and gated by cyclic nucleotides such as cAMP. In patients with stable chronic heart failure this drug can be used to prevent deterioration of heart failure.
