      There are so many good episodes, but I think my favorite episode, ruling out the finale, might be 3x11 "Day of Black Sun Part 2" because Zuko finally resolves his inner conflict by confronting his father. After following him for three seasons, it's really rewarding to see Zuko overcome his personal issues. It shows that Iroh's guidance, patience and love weren't in vain T^T

  • @mohammadjunaid2683

    THE GREATEST Recap episode is hereee.
    A LOT to talk about in this ep:
    • This ep Forces the characters to see their flaws and changes. These actors are exaggerations but there is still some truth in there.
    • The show writers and actors are making fun of themselves. They agree that the Great Divide is the worst ep so they skip it, like most people do irl. And I'm sure the voice actors do feel like they are on repeat a lot (Zuko's honor, Katara's hope and Sokka's obsession with food)
    • Showrunners are acknowledging statements from fans. The shipping wars between Kataangers and Zutarians. Jet's death being unclear. They paid a LOT of attention to their fans and respect the fanbase. And apparently the staff pitched in money of their own for the finale to be animated and seeing the amount of Love they had for the series Nickelodeon allowed them to do it.
    • They Foreshadow the final two main fights in the climax between the two Protagonists and two main Antagonists during Sozin's Comet.
    • Aang was originally supposed to be a prankster hero who won fights through being clever with tricks and had fun in fighting instead of the Pacifist Monk that hates fighting that we know (u can see that in the Unaired Pilot ep) and Theatre Aang being played by a woman is a reference to the fact that Nickelodeon wanted to cast an adult woman to play Aang (women playing young boys is common in VAing), but the creators insisted on getting an actual 12-year-old boy.
    •Toph wanting to be a muscly guy, and her saying "I wouldn't cast it any other way" is a reference to the fact that the creators chose to change her to be a blind girl when she was originally supposed to be a muscly guy.
    • And They basically poke fun at Zutara (which ngl, is kinda fked up for someone who ships them)
    Some VA names for the Theatre actors:
    • Katara: Grey DeLisle (aka the voice of Azula)
    • Sokka: Scott Menville (aka Robin in Teen Titans)
    • Zuko: Derek Basco (the brother of Dante Basco)
    • Ozai, Bumi, and Jet: Dee Bradley Baker (aka Appa & Momo)
    • Azula: Tara Strong (aka way too many animated characters to list)
    • Yue: Jennie Kwan (aka the voice of Suki)
    Now the Kataangst in this ep despite being a little cringe is still pretty good. But People take it wayyy too seriously. Yes he wasnt supposed to kiss her when she asked him not to but in his defense not only is he a 12 yr old boy but also that he probably felt very insecure because of Zuko and Sokka (Zuko being good looking and Sokka having suki). And what he did was wrong, so he learns and decides to give her space (It also teaches the kids that watch the show to not go around kissing people as it could make them very uncomfortable).
    And katara being not ready is not just because she is young but probably because she saw and remembered Aang dying in the play (she canonically tried to heal him every day and kept questioning her own healing abilities when Aang was in a Coma in the "Lost Adventures" Comics) so she already is kind of traumatized. Add that when they kiss on the day of Invasion the entire plan fails, so she most likely thinks that Love is bad omen. I think that's why she rejected him just then and she just had the episode about her reliving her mother's death too.
    People try to say Katara never had feelings for Aang, that she was a Trophy and that it was Forced but She absolutely did. She loved Aang a lot and was afraid to lose him. Like any normal person would be.
    And the episode ending with the audience cheering at the end is a morbid reminder that they're in enemy territory and this was more than entertainment, but actually a propaganda tool is just Amazing. And it makes the episode Canon imo.
    I love this show so much. Your reactions to the Finale is just around the corner and The Live action is 5 days away. Very excited 😊😄.

Honestly I don't know of any other series that incorporated so many fanbase opinions to this degree, tranforming a multi-seasonal recap episode into something original and highly entertaining. Team Avatar's exaggerated personalities, The Great Divide mention, the in-house Toph gag regarding her intended character design, Jet's fate, the Zutara shippers, Zuko's growing hair, we even had each of our protagonists reflect on their own behaviour and actions! The only thing I hate about this episode is Kataras dumb excuse on why she’s not returning her feelings to Aang. The war has been going on for a 100 years and who exactly has that prevented anyone from hooking up? I’m sure it was the writers choice to build up tension,but if a girl told me that I would’ve just moved on to someone else. I don’t have time to wonder how someone might feel about me.

    • @mattiaachille233
      @mattiaachille233 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I mean to be fair Aang didn’t care about finding someone else right then and there and why would he? He had to save the world in a few days and wanted to know if Katara loved him back or if he’d interpreted all the affection she’d showed him in the wrong way. Obviously Katara had loved him that whole time (you don’t create a Tzunami and cry your heart out the moment a dear friend gets hit by lightning and literally dies or threaten to kill someone if they try to hurt him again).
      Despite it being in her complete right to not start their relationship on the cusp of a battle for the world, she could have probably handled it better instead of saying ‘I’m confused’.
      They’re kids so it makes sense that it went this way, if they’d been a bit older they would have probably gotten together and then put their foot down to remember that they needed to prioritize winning the war if they wanted to have a future together. No matter how much Aang loved her, he wouldn’t have turned away from his duty to save the world. And no matter how much Katara loved him, she would never jeopardize his duty for her own feelings. They’re both kids and they would have loved to do nothing more than stay in bed and make out but they had to save the world first.
      For example, Sokka and Suki would risk meeting the same fate in battle but they didn’t have to focus their entire mind in dueling the most powerful firebender (not most skilled) in the world, a grown ass man and probably an extremely skilled fighter (since Azula is his child) while having only a few months of training with two elements and having mastered only two of them and not having honed any of the two for years like Ozai’s probably done.
      I’m sure that would be pretty damn stressful considering Aang is also probably the youngest avatar to ever find himself in such a situation. If this had been GoT we would be expecting Aang to lose 100%…

    • @VeelouC
      @VeelouC Před 4 měsíci

      She doesn't need an excuse I think this is pretty terrible writing since they wanted them to end up together, especially so close to the end, this episode shows that Katara doesn't feel the same way. It was a bad choice to force them together later without even a proper conversation. Just because Aang liked her doesn't mean she has to return those feelings.

    • @nanie56
      @nanie56 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@VeelouCI agree with most of what you’re saying, that they should have had a conversation in between this and the finale where aang apologizes and yes, she does not owe him reciprocation but to say she does not feel the same idk, they have been hinting at katara’s feelings shifting from platonic to romantic since the fortune teller. I always took it as her saying she was confused about when and how to address her romantic feelings for him not that she didn’t have any.

    • @mattiaachille233
      @mattiaachille233 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@VeelouC Bruh her not liking him makes literally no sense. Full stop. If Katara was half as touchy feely with someone that wasn’t Aang, we would all recognize that she had feelings for that someone. You not liking or refusing to see their romance is a *you* problem. She was the very first one to ask if they could kiss (looking super flustered while doing it) saying it wasn’t because Katara liked him is like saying Aang never liked her simply because he didn’t also ask if they could kiss at any point. Makes zero sense 😂

    There are many canon reasons for why Katara is confused and why she rejects Aang in that episode, but the noncanon reasons make a bit more sense. With that, I mean reasons which are not a part of the show, but of the show creators.
    They absolutely knew of that whole shipping war, and while most authors on Avatar supported Zutara, the creators of Avatar had always envisioned Aang and Katara together.
    And the reason for the Kataang drama, the slight Zutara moments in this episode is just the reaction to that shipping war and trying to use it to keep people interested in the story for even more reasons: Who will Katara end up with? Will Aang get the girl? Does Katara like him that way?
    Katara's feelings for Aang are never explicitly shown, they're alluded to, yes, but Aang speaks freely of his feelings for Katara, and we've known about his feelings for a while now.
    Katara's feelings are left so ambiguous to create more mystery to the "Will they? / Won't they?" - situation.
    So, I bet the creators and authors showed Zutara as a possibility for everyone who hadn't already noticed that and created drama between Aang and Katara for drama purposes. So, people could be like: "No way, she is going to end up with Zuko??? But Aang !!!!" This kept people more invested, although I cannot believe that anyone would watch the show until the Ember Island Players and then not watch the finale🤷🏽‍♀️
    The finale is not only about the winner ship, so the show didn't really need that drama in this moment. It's nice for Zutara shippers to get acknowledged by the show (even if the way they did that is disrespectful ngl), but I for one, could have done without the Kataang drama. Just have them be their normal selves. Idk, it feels fabricated to me, and Aang is uncharacteristically aggressive and whiny, which is just... No. I know he's twelve, but character development would have been Aang understanding Katara and apologising for pressuring her. And I think that even fits his character better. A pacifist monk who is wise beyond his age. So, Idk, just don't like the way Aang is written in this episode.
    Yes, he's 12, but I'm a bit less "Aww" in those moments, and more like "You're 12. You can wait longer until you get a girlfriend. World saving first."
    One might say that Aang is stressed because of the comet approaching, but that doesn't make sense for
    reasons that would spoiler you.
    But apart from all that, I really love this episode, Sokka being Sokka, and the moment Toph and Zuko share. Aang and Katara all got their episode with Zuko and Sokka and Suki even got two, but Toph has this one really nice moment. And it's not about Zuko helping her with family stuff or other trauma, but it's about him feeling better about how far he's come, and that smile of his when she talks about Iroh!!!!!! 😍
    I loved your reactions to the play!!! The Ember Island Players is a fans' favourite episode, and getting all this extra info on the actors and voice actors of the actors from this comments section is amazing😍😍
    And before the big finale, I wanted to say thank you for your reactions and the time that you put into this. You two seem so nice and authentic, and I just love reactions like yours😍

      Nah Aang’s completely in character for doing this: under extreme stress to defeat the Fire Lord because everyone counts on him, the play insults his character, pisses on his culture, mocks his existence, downplays the affection Katara has for him.
      Plus Aang didn’t even go talk to Katara about it, he got pissed and stormed off because he knew his emotions were out of control and Katara following him only fueled the fire. Both him and Katara could have handled it better to be honest. There are also a lot of things that happen off camera so the many apologies we never hear are useless for character development in my opinion. Plus Aang shows he knew he’d done wrong by kissing her because he immediately calls himself an idiot (while Zuko for example continued to be an asshole after getting jealous at Mai in The Beach episode).
      They would have probably done it differently if fans didn’t get in the way but whatever, it still tells young people that even if they like someone and they are certain that that someone likes them back, they must still follow their boundaries in the end…
