Actually, my Dad had a kidney transplant and its just as hard to gain a kidney. You have to take something like 17 different meds for the rest of your life. The meds keep her body from rejecting the new kidney. You can't put things in your body even if its going to save your body's life. It thinks of it as a potential hazard. Come to think of it, that's the reason a Placenta in created in the Mom's body to not only supply nutrients and oxygen around the baby, It's also because the blood of the Mom's body can't mix with the babies it will kill it The person who gave her kidney will also be on meds, Her/He need time from going under knife same as Salena. and they both need to avoid being near children Selena forever because children one minute they're fine and the next they are sick they're little germ factories (which is fine for them ,this is how we build up immunities) So a child could cause Salena to loose her Kidney and the the friend could loose her only kidney -Now the other thing is the friend needs to wait for her kidney to grow to the size of 2 kidneys which is what happens . This is what's dangerous about children that need a kidney - an adult can take any size kidney but child needs the same size or smaller because kidneys grow, shrinking kidneys means it's dying. So that is what the donor has to go through and once the kidney is the right size that is their only kidney . So, they need to avoid accidents. Also when making this decision if you have children or someday plan to have children its not a great Idea to donate your kidney to a friend because what happens if your child goes through kidney failure . the strongest donor is a family member same blood type ,or friend or live donors after that is cadaver donor (this is the reason I'm a donor If I should die they're 14 organs (I think that is the number) on you that can help other people live or even live better lives -so ,the next time you renew your drivers license check the box that says you want to donate your organs) or donate your body to science so student doctors can practice and learn how to do surgery. Both are great idea's if you want to help people in the future.

Not you trying to not let people cope with their chronic illness in their own way. I almost died of epilepsy. I always joke about not hoping i do the Harlem Shake. No one else but me and the people that saw an episode can joke of it. It's how I cope, especially after almost dying from it this year.
If you have an illness yourself, I'm sorry what you're going through but we as humans do not all have your morals. Hard pill to swallow.

I don’t think it’s really a joke. In reality Francia stopped being friends with Selena because Selena kept drinking. You can find this if you do some digging. I always thought it was so strange that Francia went through so much for her but Selena no longer mentions her and we don’t see Francia with her in any pictures anymore.

It’s not intentional. I’m sure we’re all hypocritical at some point in our lives without knowing it. Even the most self-aware person makes mistakes. The best we can do is point out the inconsistency and let people learn from the hypocrisy.
Well if you look into it, Francia stopped being friends with Selena because at the time after they recovered from the initial surgery, they both went through extreme depression. Eventually Selena started drinking again. It was extremely disrespectful towards Francia. I looked into it because I thought it was strange how Selena no longer mentions Francia.

They're keeping their friendship private because everyone keeps trying to get in their business. The media twisted it and made it seem like they're not friends and hate each other now which is completely untrue. You are still allowed to occasionally drink if you have lupus. It won't have any affects on your kidney. Its only a problem if its to the point where you're excessively drinking and become an alcoholic which Selena wasn't doing. A paparazzi saw Selena drinking one time outside and immediately assumed that she's drinking again, ruining her kidney and that she's no longer friends with Francia lol.

I find it incredibly disrespectful to turn to alcoholism, or to even joke about being an alcoholic, after her being given a second chance of life. I knew a man who did the exact same thing (returned to alcoholism) after his sister donated one of her kidneys and it broke her heart. Because now she's sick, doesn't recover from illnesses as well, and has to be cautious of everything because if her ONE kidney fails her in her old age, she will die.
As for Selena, she is a CELEBRITY, everyone is allowed a critique, criticism, and judgment if she so chooses to put herself out there. If she didn't want any comment of any kind on her kidney transplant, on her kidney donor, on her disease, then frankly she shouldn't have put it out there at all. No shame, I had a kidney transplant at age of 10. I received the kidney from my mother. I'm now 40 years young and am thankful for each day!! The love and compassion of others to allow someone else to live a full life is being beyond blessed. You're a really good friend. Bless you both!!❤

If she’s not, that’s awesome but she should say that because she made the whole thing public therefore made it ok for public discussion. Okay first off she had a kidney transplant not a liver transplant and she most likely consulted with her doctor on what she can and can’t do. Secondly y’all have zero input on what she does with her life and frankly she and any other celebrity doesn’t care about what y’all think about them they will still live their lives the way they want even if it’s reckless. Lastly this was a joke. She made that clear in the comments and caption if you saw her TikTok. Y’all do know most people joke about serious stuff that happened to them as a way to cope.
For those thinking it was wrong of her to joke about this sometimes people who have medical issues sometimes will make jokes bad ones about the things like this, it helps us deal with our trauma or deal with the things we can't do or what the illness took away from us and yeah to someone else it looks shitty but it's a coping method in a way.

I like Selena a lot, however that tiktok wasn't "just a joke". I get that some people (myself included) use "dark humor" to cope with traumatic things that had happened to us. But, the reason that I say it's not a joke, it's because Selena used to (don't really know if she's still doing it) drink and party A LOT after Francia donated her kidney. And that's why they're no longer friends, Francia got really upset about it at that time, talked to Selena about it (not only as a concerned friend but also as the person who "lost" her kidney in order to save her friend's live and watching her not taking care of it and not realizing what Francia went through as well to just putting in danger her kidney, it was hard for her). So that's why they distance themselves, or actually that's why Selena cut ties with Francia cause she didn't wanna hear it and yeah... that was a pretty sh¡tty move on Selena's part. She was and still is quite ungrateful, and I feel bad for Francia on this one.

And to be honest I wish she could be more open like Nick Cannon is to spread awareness and how horrific this condition could really be. I had a kidney transplant. Alcohol doesn't affect the kidney as it does the liver. She has to take anti-rejection for the rest of her life. Those pills don't mix with alcohol. Any one with kidney disease doesn't want to go back to dialysis after a new one.
I’m on adoport I haven’t been told I can’t drink, so long as you’re not drinking excessively the occasional drink is fine, alcohol actually decreases immunity which would only serve as an addition to the anti rejection, but I drink jd on occasion I’ve never had any issue
Everyone is different. The medication that I’m on I’m not allowed to drink. I’m going on a year and a half with my kidney this year and I was told to not touch alcohol again for the rest of my life. I don’t know if that’s a little extreme but that’s what I was told once I was getting discharged

It's her life and her body. Her friend made a decision to give up her kidney, she doesn't have a say in how Selena treats it. Personally I would not give up my kidney to anyone but that's my choice.
To be fair, whether or not she has a "say" on how Selena treats her kidney, you would think Selena would want to be respectful and appreciate something precious that was given to her (and that definitely puts her friend at a health disadvantage). It's just common sense, common courtesy, and quite frankly it's simply the respectful thing to do

Hhmmm , I disagree, everything is free game if you live in the public eye. I thought the joke was funny because it made fun of the public and the way misinformation gets spread out through tabloids and speculation. Selena didn’t ask to get Lupas or to need a kidney but thankfully, she received one and she is still alive! It’s unfortunate that her donor was unable to process Selena’s choices for her body afterwards and allowed them to affect her so much. Even giving someone a kidney does not give you dominion over their body. It’s such an unhealthy outlook. It hurt them both.
