They have said that i need to wait for about 5 years to see how I'm doing and I could do it then. Even if it won't be to that friend at that point in time, I'm happy to donate to a stranger who will need it in the future.
Well this did not age well. Not saying francia and Selena have to still be best friends or whatever but Selena referring to her simply as “someone I know” after she saved her LIFE is just cold, unforgivable, and a horrible look. My view of Selena is forever changed.

There is a program where you family donates a kidney and your family will receive one. Your wife is a strong woman to be able to go through such difficulty with her health for so long.

Shadow people maybe. I think most realize people who appear to have it all together and look amazing have troubles and deal with issues just like the rest of us. She found out she was a match from Selena! The doctor notified Selena first before Francia. Selena then FaceTimed Francia and told her "we are a match!" That's how Francia found out. Francia never had a choice of wether or not to do it because she had no time to think about it.

If you were in the position of having a lupus and close to dieing, you wouldn’t be excited to tell your friend who volunteered to get tested, that they were a match??? I don’t think she necessarily guilt tripped her, but We definitely know for a fact that the doctor in charge caused a breach of confidentiality and did not legally do their job correctly. They are the only one to blame.

No. The body can perfectly function with just one kidney. For you to be a donor, you have to be perfectly healthy (no diabetes, no high blood pressure, no autoimmune diseases, no kidney cysts, no chronic viral infection, such as HIV or hepathites). You'll be monitored as any other person should be for chronical diseases, such as the ones I mentioned.
But your energy, your activities won't be affect what so ever.
It's so sweet to hear more stories like mine. I just donated my kidney to my fiancé last December. I tell people every day I would do it all again in a heartbeat! I pray that you and your husband continue to be full of life and health :)

Can someone please tell Selena she needs to stop consuming animal proteins, she needs to go on a plant based diet void of animal products, her symptoms will be alleviated within months.
She has an auto immune disease where the body attacks its self, many animal proteins like beef, and dairy look a lot like other proteins around the body like the joints, hair follicles, and kidneys,
it also could be from yeast, so she should cut out refined carbs like cakes and breads. the worst that will happen is that she feels a lot better health wise, but still ravaged by the disease. then she can go back to a standard western diet, but trust me and the science she needs to do this..

I worked for a Nephrologist(kidney Dr.) A most the time family members want to donate but are not compatible. We had patients that got a kidney donated by a neighbor, a church member or a friend of a friend that heard their story. It's good to know that there's still good people in this world.

People donating should know there is a 99.7% success rate. Donating a kidney is a brave thing to do and a major sacrifice but the likelihood of not waking up from the surgery is extremely thin.

Those two women are my heroes. I lost all kidney function for 8 months and had to do dialysis from a GVHD attack following an Allogenic bone marrow transplant for AML leukemia. I didn't urinate one drop for 8 months. That was the most miserable 8 months of my life in so many ways. Praise God my kidneys went back to working one night. The kidneys regulate so many things, even your red blood cell production and potassium levels. Glad they got that huge problem repaired.

my mom was a match for my dad and was able to donate a kidney to my him, who’s kidneys had shut down due to a high stage of kidney cancer. it was a one in a million chance that a couple would be matches. I really do know how intense this all is, and the fact that they both got through it together is so incredibly good. my parents were there for each other, and they were there for each other. both of my parents had to write out wills, too, and it was probably one of the most surreal things my siblings and I had gone through. I remember us sitting together at breakfast with my mom telling us that there really wasn’t a 100% guarantee that they’d both survive. they both have scars, but it’s okay. my dad is so so grateful for my mom, and vice versa. they’re both so strong for being able to get through this💕

My mom doesn’t even let anyone donate for her, my dad said her do it but unfortunately she thinks it’s against the way she was raised, that it’s morally wrong and selfish.
I wish my mom could be more selfish, sometimes it’s a good thing.
My mom needed a kidney and my oldest brother, who was about 25 at the time, was a perfect match, but they found some issues that suggested he would likely also go through kidney failure later in life. 25 years later, he's in stage 4 kidney failure and is waiting for a transplant.
My mom is alive today because of a woman in California who died in a car crash and happened to be a perfect match. This is why being an organ donor is so important, even if you don't want to make that sacrifice when you're alive. If I'm going to die anyway, I would hope my death could save someone else's life.

There are so many people struggling with kidney failure and unless you go through something so traumatic you will never truly understand the situation they are in.
