- The 19th film shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000 was the 1961 black-and-white horror film, Ring of Terror.
I must apologize for this episode, as I could find no information about this film, nor could I find much in the way of graphics. I did my best with what I had!
This film was directed by Clark L. Paylow, written by Lewis Simeon and Jerrold I. Zinnamon, and stars George Mather, Esther Frust, Austin Green, and other people you’ve probably never heard of.
This film is the story of a group of medical students who undertake some silly and frightening endeavors in order to pledge a fraternity and one student who seems brave but has a secret fear of the dark!
The film was shown on MST3K on November 3, 1990. I can’t say I enjoyed this film!
Glad you enjoyed yourself. It's great to have you back. Best part of the movie was the large couple. They seem like they would have been a fun couple.
I'm glad I am not only the one who those the large couple were the best part!
For some reason my spouse always picked THIS movie whenever we were trying to choose an old MST3K episode to watch. I've never understood why.
It is an odd one, but there are some good laughs on that episode.
George Mather (star of Ring of Terror) is/was my cousin (our grandfathers were brothers). He also worked on Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) as a Production Supervisor; Big Trouble in Little China (1986) and Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986). ❤
Thanks for the comment. I knew about his work on Star Wars but I didn't know about Big Trouble in Little China or Poltergeist II. George was one of the better actors in this film even if he was a bit too old for the part. I don't suppose he ever mentioned when it was made?
Was the guy who lost his cat related to Donald Pleasance? Nobody else pronounces the word "pyuma"! 😄
You made me laugh out loud! You're right!
PS - the end of the vid made me laugh out loud. I don't think you could have possibly backed further away. 😄
This is one of the MST3K episodes that puts me straight to sleep, it took me several tries to watch all the way through. The riffing is brilliant, but the poor-quality washed out print, bad audio levels, and meandering "plot" all make it a tough watch. Screw George Moffet, Tiny and Rag Doll are the real protagonists of this flick!
I totally understand, and I hope to never watch this film again! It is a mystery to me that someone could have read this script and made it into a movie!
I recently watched The Alien Dead , too! And all I have to say is: I apologize for every complaint I've ever made about any other movie. That film might be the nadir of western civilization.
So true! LOL
