What it looks like. Aldi has a rating system just like Amazon and that's why people quit that job because they're sick of the reading system. No one should have to be rated for their job performance and that's why amazon always say they're just a number to us

Treating staff like machines is not ok.

So basically Aldi treats their employees as shitty as Amazon treats theirs. Caring more about numbers and efficiency.

Checkout employees do damage groceries when checking out. They just throw things into the basket - I've had tomatoes thrown in and then heavy items thrown on top of them. One cashier damaged a gallon sized bottle of water. I pointed it out and he said, "it was like that, already." It wasn't.

If that's not reason to never shop Aldi, I don't know what is.

Since when does rushing a transaction & any possibility of a pleasant interaction with a customer considered good customer service? That's ridiculous. I'll stick with self checkout.

While im checking out at Aldi, I use old grocery bagger tricks to help things go more smoothly. Such as heavy stuff like cans 1st, I keep refrigerated stuff together and leave delicate items like eggs, chips and bread last. This way, as they scan & move to the cart beside them, its easier for them to go faster while not worrying about something getting messed up

That’s why I prefer to use self checkout. I go at my pace and nothing gets damaged and it’s all rung up correctly.

Computers are turning us into robots.

  • @aspe2988

Thats fucked up. I understand efficiency, yet that’s kinda messed up to place employees, friends most likely, against each other because you’re wanting a quota met.

Why are a lot of self check out showing up at Aldi?

  • @jewelciappio

Every corporation is doing this to the detriment of employees. Everyone I know that works like this with the best of intentions when they take the job quits after a year. It’s not sustainable. Retention is not the goal and then they wonder why no one in town will apply for a job. Our unemployment rates are about to rise drastically nationwide and ceos openly state their belief that more jobless people will allow them to hire people at lower rates of pay. What they refuse to acknowledge is the abuse of employees is what led to people not being able to work physically anymore. Then our politicians and corporations cry a loud how unemployment is up but no one wants to work anymore (homeless are that way because they just don’t want jobs etc) and the cycle repeats while they are busy pocketing their maximized profits. After a while taxes go up to pay for benefits and the country turns against itself spiraling to a new low. People are already doing theft in record numbers because they would rather be criminalized for stealing than be abused until their bodies are broke. And a new generation grows up believing if they work hard they could someday get that promotion or be the one making the big bucks. Little do they know they too will be consumed by the corporate beast the same as everyone else.
