Hello everyone, in today's video we will be discussing two cases regarding bow hunters. The first we will be talking about the miracle of Eduardo Garcia, who was out for a hike/bow hunt in October 2011 when he came upon what looked like a deceased bear. It was a deceased bear, and Eduardo got a little closer and touched it with his pocket knife.. What he didn't realize the bear had been killed by an exposed electrical wire carrying 2400 volts.. He was instantly shocked and blown backwards. But he managed to walk 3 miles to get help..
The second case we will be discussing the mystery of Aaron Joseph Hedges, who went missing on September 5, 2014. Aaron was 38 years old at the time and was out with 2 of his friends for a week long trip at the Cottonwood Lake Trailhead which is roughly 20 miles north of Billings, Montana. They were planning to camp around campfire lake. After Aaron’s mule got spooked and through a bunch of his gear of the side of the mountain, Aaron decided to head up towards Sunlight lake to a cache where they had extra gear stored. That was the last time they saw Aaron. The story only got stranger as Year later a tourist visiting family found Aaron’s gear leaned up against a tree within eyesight of a ranch.. Then a year after his gear was found, another tourist spotted his skull underneath a tree roughly 20 yards away. Nothing about this case makes sense. It remains unsolved to this day. Many people think it was just a tragic accident. But I don't buy that..

Not to take away from this bear story but i also found myself and a new life recently after a nine month cancer infusion (every day) for leukemia. I was diagnosed october 2019 then the plague hit in March. I had no immune system to fight anything on my own. I did not get down emotionally. Instead i created my new life while dripping. Today i am a licensed Unmanned Aircraft Pilot for Search and Rescue! I love my life. I found my smile. It is true that these kinds of experiences can have a profound effect on ones self.
The only plague that hit in March 2020 was a plague of tyranny.

Your story is helpful to me. You have a positive attitude and you fought back with the little strength you were afforded. My brother just got diagnosed with prostrate cancer he's devastated and he just buried his wife from brain cancer. I'll read him your comment I pray God your words get thru his fear. Thankyou for taking the time to write something that can help someone else's coping skills.
My ex wife worked with Ed when we lived in Livingston Montana in the late 90's. He's a great person and his experience on that day and what he has done with his life should be an inspiration to all. Thanks Bryan for all you do.
I agree with you Byran, that Aaron's case is strange, and the so-called friends of his should have reported him missing way sooner. I feel bad for him, and his family.

@@BigDaddy-yp4mi I too found much more information on Aaron and it seems to be lots of information has been either ignored or just not updated. It makes more sense now though still incredibly sad. Not very good friends, they were just worried about getting in trouble hunting on private property.

Regarding the Aaron Hedges story, I listened to another video on this case that was very eye opening. The channel is The Missing Enigma. In this video, he explains that Aaron was on medication to curb his alcoholism and some say he may have possibly went off to detox alone in the woods, which alone could kill him. To me, this explains a LOT of the mysteries of this case. Why he "missed" the Y and started heading obviously in the wrong direction. Why his stuff was found neatly placed, facing civilization and help. (Like he sat down, experiencing DTs, and left his stuff or was carried off by animals after passing while looking down on the ranch.) It also talks about how his friends eventually admitted to illegally harvesting a bull elk, which explains why they didn't report him missing right away and why their answers seem so strange.
Either way, I highly suggest any one interested in this case check out that video. I learned so much that I've never heard before and I've watched dozens of different videos on this one.
A wild deep forest is the worst place to detox/ go through massive withdrawals. Alcohol withdrawal is the only drug that can kill you. Never mind the standard perils you may encounter while being in the bush. Adding alcohol withdrawal and alcohol detox to the mix will make your wilderness experience so much more dangerous and i will be a living hell. In his case I do believe he got turned around, or injured, or seriously lost, all due to his D.,T.’s.

On the Missing 411 movie, they showed Aaron Hedges. They omitted the alcoholism and I believe that was the entire issue with Aaron. God bless Aaron for going and trying to detox off the booze. Seems to me that the donkey getting spooked; Aaron losing his camping gear; and his buddies knowing that he unknowingly missed the fork by the creek, by passing it, why the "F" were they out hunting? Friendship, true friends would have been with Aaron. Looking for him, finding him, helping him detox, letting him know he was ok and that nothing was going to happen to him because we are your friends. Yah know the ride or die dawgs that have your back to the fullest? But no you selfish men left your buddy out on his own when he needed you the most! If you needed meat by poaching; watch out for the loved ones first and then poach. I get the fact that they obviously needed the meat. So his wife calls in him missing? Shame on you two!

P.s. There IS a correlation on the missing 411, but there is a reasonable explanation for each and every case. We just don't know what it is yet, but it almost certainly is not a f******g Bigfoot or Yeti. Theres a map with the point overlaid on cave systems in America and it doesn't line up when you include Texas (has the MOST caves by far, 2nd biggest state, and has had "ZERO 411-disignatable" cases. But what's very interesting, especially with the anecdotal cases of children describing black bears taking care of them (the stories exist all the way to the early 1800's), is that a map of black bear territory overlaps the missing 411 map points in a VERY eerie way. I truly believe with all my heart black bears are responsible for a large bit of the 411, if not all. You insert a hungry black bear, which can be quiet as a mouse, run for sustained distances/time (in relation to a human), wouldn't leave scent because no animals trying to find people are trained to chase black bears because they're everywhere. Any tracks would just be discarded as a black bear at some point but because there's no 'kill area' of 'animal predation' it wouldn't be suspected as the culprit. Always near rocks? Bears love boulder fields, black bears much more so than grizzlies. I'm telling you, insert 'black bear' to every case he has or has described and one thing that not a single one of them can exclude is a black bear.
Poor guy had walk after that. Poor bear bless the soul of this precious creature. It's amazing he is alive. Wow he was hurt so bad and walked back he is an amazing human. Bless him and may he live the rest of his life in peace and serenity.
I recently heard about Aaron on another channel. It was believed that he was trying to go cold turkey with his alcoholism, a heavy burden on a body depending on the severity of the abuse. People can easily die or have major organ and nerve complications while trying to heal even when in hospitals- but seems like he was irritated while heading out with the mule and it loosing supplies made everything worse. He said he’d go off to the other spot - which the “friends” were relieved to hear by the sounds of it. A working theory after he goes missing is that he made it to where he wanted to go (the friends are doing some illegal hunting) . At some point he spots an elk, takes off his heavy noisy boots and swaps them for soft slip quiet shoes like moccasins (many bow hunters will do this) and goes after the elk. Whatever happens and then the snow blows in, away from his camp, he tries to build a secondary fire. Eventually the searchers and Aaron do a circle around each other - and Aaron didn’t have his medication to help with the withdrawal on him either. Hard to say if he was in the right mindset .
So sorry for the loss - much respect and I hope the friends are questioned again
I wonder if he didn't encounter another illegal hunter/mountain man type that took offense to Aaron being on his patch. There are wild men in those mountains, who don't follow the same rules as society. That's why they're there in the first place.
I also watched a video about Aaron here on CZcams and that video also said he was detoxing off of alcohol, perhaps we seen the same video? In any case, with the other video saying that he was detoxing off of alcohol, that puts a new perspective on this case and I don't know if he had lost his alcohol when he lost some of his supplies from the muse getting spoked and dropping stuff off the cliff? Or if Aaron was planning on detoxing cold turkey? Depending on how much alcohol he was detoxing off of will affect how bad the detox is. I know that people who are detoxing off of daily consumption of hard liquor can have siesures (sp?) And other complications that can make the person unable to function without help.

@@always_b_natural703 I did go right into the military right after I graduated high school and I was trained for wilderness survival and close quarters combat and hand to hand combat. After the time in the military I traveled around the U.S.A. and met the woman who I married and we hiked and camped out in the woods for some time before we settled down and had children. While camping and all we did come across tracks in the woods and it looked like someone living in the woods with what we seen. I did cover our tracks, used Evasion technics and made sure we were hid well as we moved our way out of the area.
@@hungrymoose2808 I do understand that David Paulides is going to just give Fact's and to stay professional about things and perhaps the family asked him to not give out information about the alcohol in Aaron's case? And a lot of people copy his work with little to no investigation of their own. That is probably why we are just now hearing that alcohol detox was involved and that does put a whole lot of things into a new perspective. like Aaron's backpack and weapons being set down by a tree in view of a person's house or cabin and if he was detoxing hard he may of thought about going up to the cabin but could of gotten disoriented. The alcohol detox puts a new spin on this case.

I'm surprised the bear, which must have still be sitting on a live wire hadn't started burning with that much power running thru it. I can relate to a bad shock, having been hit myself once where it came thru my arm and out my chest and knocked me out, but it wasn't near as powerful as this poor man was hit with!!! Scares the crap out of me, because if I found a random dead bear, I would probably want to take a souvenir also. Would never in a hundred years think "maybe there's a lot of current flowing through this thing".
Anytime your body is hit with that much amperage of electricity, you have to worry about it doing damage to the systematic regularity of your hearts electrical rhythm. This guy is definitely lucky to have survived.
2400 volts is actually low voltage as far as utilities are concerned.
It’s one of the lower primary voltages. Will it definitely kill you? Yes. 120 volts will under the right conditions.
2400 will lay in trees and bushes without smoking or burning, it can even lay on the ground without any evidence of it existing.
Higher voltages (13800, 14400, 19900) make protective devices (fuses, reclosers, breakers) operate faster than lower primary voltages and won’t lie on trees and bushes without tripping.
Amperage and voltage act together.
As the amperage (current) increases voltage decreases and vice versa. When he made contact with the bear the current flow would have increased and the voltage would have dropped.
The bear had likely lost moisture due to the current flowing through its carcass depending on how long it had been in contact with the conductor and was become less conductive.
The young man who touched the bear most likely had a higher moisture/salt content. Salt greatly increases conductivity.

Bryan, you are correct, this is quite suspicious. No hiker would set his boots aside, too bizarre.
It’s actually common for hunters to take off boots & slip on moccasins to go stalk an animal to reduce noise.

As a trail runner with my dog. I always took my cues from my dog. He would run ahead of me so when he would stop and hide behind me or not want to continue on trail - I realized he must be sensing danger. So I would not keep going back track until at my vehicle. Animals sense and smell things we cannot. Better safe than sorry.
I truly believe that Mr. Garcia had a divine intervention. Like, what are the chances that you touch a dead bear in the woods and get away electrocuted. Then, to go on and do good with it, pretty amazing.

Just saying, as an interest thing, that the voltage WILL NOT kill you. People experience 1000s of volts from a common static electrical shock. However, it's the amperage that get you.
Sorta true.....you have to get specialty electronics, like for magic shows or tasers, to get high voltage without the almost always corresponding amperage. 100-200 milliamperes (0.1-0.2 amps) are lethal. There have been reports of 50 milliamperes (0.05 amps!!!) being lethal. Outside of tasers and magic shows if you run across 2,400 volts, you're gonna die. P=I*V P is power. I is electrical current. V is electrical potential, or commonly called voltage and in America it's 110v-120v unless you've got stuff that pulls higher loads, like a welding machine, electric oven, etc, and they'll pull 220v-240v.
Unless someone INTENTIONALLY modified the electrical line with very specific engineering setup and calibration, then you are running a |||| normal power line 99.99999999999999999999999999% of the time ||||||||||, unless it's got a bad ground somewhere else while it kills you.
It's the VOLTAGE they want to achieve in the line that kills you due to the inevitable inclusion of Amperage....so one could argue that chasing Voltage is why the line is there and the pursuit of said voltage is what killed you...?????

I've been fortunate to meet Eduardo Garcia and am grateful you showcased his story. From his hippie upbringing to his artistic culinary skills his story is inspiring! Thank you.
You left out they didn't want him to go. He had been drinking alot. He wasn't trust worthy not to get drunk. Supposedly he was going on the trip to sober up. His wife had been done with his drinking too. There is a lot to this story left out. Each time I see another video or podcast more information comes out. This case was on David Paulides The Hunted. No matter the alcoholism still strange but does explains his friends anger and slow to care.

If you lost a loved one and still had no answers, would you want people talking about their drinking? I knew most people were familiar with this case and always leave tons of sources in the description. But yes you're correct about his drinking and whether you agree or not I left that out on purpose. He and his friends were up there to poach.
Firstly, they'd seen him in this condition for 20 years and they knew how he was. Knowing that, it might have been better to leave him alone and let him sober up.
They figured he'd come back when he was sober. He knew the area very well. You wouldn't cache in a place you weren't familiar with. When he didn't come back after a couple of days, maybe then they got somewhat concerned. Again, they were poaching and worried about their own asses and what would happen if they called the Sheriff. Jail time, fines, confiscation of your firearms, future legal hunting privileges taken away. They were scared of what would happen. They'd have to explain to the authorities why they were there.
The extraordinarily bizarre discovery of his things on a hill overlooking the ranch house, with his canteen open and food bar wrappers and then his skeleton close by are absolutely nonsensical. Maybe he had some underlying mental issues which manifested on this trip. Nobody truly knows but him. RIP young man.
That man’s fitness levels and attitude saved his life. What a horrific accident. He is one tough man. Amazing he went on to do so many good works to help others. Really uplifting story. Thank you for sharing, Bryan.

Mr. Garcia is an absolute extraordinary person, in every way. Morst individuals could not have made it back to a rescue place in this injured and burned condition. Plus all he had to endure with the surgery and recovery. He`s surely a true hero in the true sence of the word, I know I never could have made it.....I wish him well for the future. Cheers fr. According to multiple sources, Aaron had a drinking problem in the months leading up to his disappearance. It is entirely possible he was overcome by the DTs (Delirium Tremens, or severe alcohol withdrawal that can lead to death if not treated) when separated from his camping buddies. It had also been reported that his family said he was trying to quit drinking, so if he went cold turkey right before the trip, and suffered a related medical issue after going towards the cache, it would explain why he may have just sat down, unable to make contact with his friends by radio, much less fire his weapon to alert them. It could theoretically explain the undressing as well, if he got the cold sweats suddenly, and/or was overcome by delirium.
The Aaron Hedges story is not so mysterious if you actually read the police report. One of the guys that went hunting that weekend did not want Aaron going, Aaron was having depression issues and drinking a lot and I believe he was also using street drugs or medication. The guy that didn't want Aaron to coming, didn't care for him that much, and knew that this was going to be a problem having him along. Even though Aaron's boots were found on the second or third day of searching, his friends did say and it's in the police report that he did have another pair of boots with him. Both the friends took lie detectors, they both passed. There was many other things in the police report it's been a while since I watched the video that showed the actual police report and went through it. But it is interesting because if you take all the actual facts of that case, it's not really very mysterious after all. It almost seems like he either had some sort of a breakdown or did so many drugs and drink so much that he just wandered away, And ended up dying. The channel missing enigma did a very good video on this, with the police report. I encourage everyone to go watch it, because if you do this story will make a little more sense.
He had a very bad drinking problem but apparently did not have much or any alcohol with him, meaning he would have been going through a pretty bad withdrawal.
No matter how you slice it, this is a _very_ strange case. That is if you do not dismiss the details! The search conducted in this case was incredibly massive. Multiple agencies including the military were involved with the use of special equipment. Professional searchers don't miss a button when they work shoulder to shoulder through the scrub. Yet, in a place that was _already searched_ a day prior some of his items turned up. _That fact should make the hair on the back of your neck stand straight up!_ Especially, in the context of the rest of the discoveries. It suggests they were looking for a dead man and someone made sure searchers would find something where they already looked. Of course, the perp would have to be pretty sly and practically superhuman to pull off the feat. Perhaps, a subterrestrial with methods to remain unseen in highly advanced modes of travel . . . and a grudge. One way to make some sense of this case!

The other thing that I haven't been able to have confirmed anywhere is if the gear that the mule apparently sent flying over the edge of the cliff was ever found
Was the poor mule ever found? That would have ended my hunting trip right there. I would have done an about face and went back. Anytime a domestic animal freaks out like that…..take it as a warning…..IF that’s what actually happened.

I feel sorry for the bear. Awful for the guys injuries but hunters leave me cold. I think they have bloodlust and are cruel. I feel deeply sad too for other animals who come across it. However I will add it's extremely shocking when young ones (people) die. I hate to hear of it.

Thx Bryan... Love these stories... Mr Garcia is awesome! I've done tons of research on Arron hedges.. after looking at all of the info I concluded that drugs, alcohol, hypothermia and withdrawal symptoms caused Arrons death... Sad situation.

Aaron was struggling from alcoholism & was coming off drugs when he went on hunt with his buddies. The area they went in checkered with private property & he passed several shelters.

I think that maybe you don't allow for the mental effects that hypothermia has on a person. You start to make very bad decisions and will get to the point that you can't save yourself. That being said, they were probably out poaching and the friends didn't report him earlier because of that.
I once read of a hiker who died of hypothermia inside of his sleeping bag. He made it back to camp but was in deep trouble already. He chose to crawl into his sleeping bag instead of making the hot beverage that would have started heating his core more efficiently. Sad, sad case
If he was on Antebuse and lost it, he may have gone into detox and experienced some delirium and/or seizures resulting in his death at some point. Alcohol detox is very dangerous and needs to be done under medical supervision. Unless he ran into someone who hurt him.

Aaron could have been so delirious from the DTs, he didn't really know what he was doing. People with the DTs see things and become paranoid. He could have had times of clarity and start to do the right thing and go off again. He might have seen the searchers and avoided them. He might have took his boots off to be able to move more quietly and then not remember where he left them. On your map, it shows the boots in one place and his remains in a direct line going toward the ranch. This might indicate he was at least temporarily thinking clearly and either died before he could get there or a bear/cougar killed him.
I got a mystery for you. I know you mostly cover wilderness disaaperienes but in LaCrosse, WI there are college kids who have went missing for years. They end up walking twords their residence when they are last seen only to be found days later in the Mississippi River but the coroner claims none of them drown. They swear there isn't a mass murder, but Noone can figure this out. David pellades did cover it but offered no clues either. This has been ongoing for years. There is one man who did survive, but he refuses to talk about it only to say that he doesn't remember and then he woke up in the Mississippi River near Peggy's restaurant on front Street but was naked and has no idea how he got there. I lived here the whole time this was happening and warned my children repeatedly. With those families had closure.

Eduardo Garcia...this guy was a guest judge on Chopped...Food network . I just watched the episode a few days ago. (It's an old episode, season 44 or 45 I believe) He was telling the other judges why he had a hook on his arm/hand. Small world. He's a good, positive guy...

Hmm. The boots are interesting. Many missing persons cases involve details were shoes are found but nothing else. Or the body was found without shoes. The Trail of evidence suggest that something or someone attempted to lead SAR away from Something. I think he was a victim of foul play but who knows. Thanks fir sharing this story. He had a second pair of lightweight shoes on him that he used for stalking deer, likely took off his boots and put them on instead, perhaps he planned to come back for the boots after getting a deer, or the boots where blistering his feet after walking all day and he didn't want to carry them.
I agree there is something not right with these guys I hoped that there is further investigation

That Aaron also had an alcohol problem and was detoxing on the hunt (horrible idea) and was a jerk to his friends but understandably he was in withdraw I believe the withdrawal clouded his judgment and he got hypothermia on top of that that's why he never made it to the house he was close to and he just died under tree plus there is evidence of clothing shedding witch is part of hypothermia
Any forensic exam of the bones found? COD (Cause of Death)? The Mule going crazy...was that reported from the 2 "friends"? Who owned the "cash" storage? Need some background on the relationships between these men. Did they work together? How long did they know each other. In one of the photos Erin is riding a motorcycle. Were they biker buddies? Were they all in a gang? Lots of questions to be answered. Great story, Bryan. Love your channel.
The only thing I can think of that would explain him not going to the nearby ranch houses is if he was intentionally in hiding. Perhaps he was being hunted down by his “friends” for who know what, but this doesn’t seem supernatural. Taking off his shoes, is a tell-tell sign that he didn’t want to leave tracks, further making me believe he was being hunted and in hiding. I really appreciate your honest take on the story because every time I’ve heard it narrated, it’s been done in a way that makes it seem supernatural, but that’s only because they intentionally leave out key elements on purpose. - love your channel! Wait a minute. When you don't want to leave tracks, you tie branches to the bottoms of your boots, and walk-in places that don't make good tracks. It is said in general, people are only parted from their footwear in the wild to prevent their escape. And probably the reason it sounded supernatural is due to the massive and extensive search by multiple agencies who found some of his items in a place they thoroughly searched and found nothing the day before. So, it's difficult to comprehend a scenario in light of all the discoveries within the proximities. It's unusual.
Even if you take your boots off, you are still going to leave tracks with bare feet!

Having hiked in the back country myself in Montana . It is a beautiful place .I do not carry a gun or a knife or anything but water . And on one long hike going 5 miles or so in had gotten lost . I knew if I went in one direction it would be 90 miles to Great Falls .If I went in another wrong direction it would be over 200 miles into Canada . And in another wrong direction over 100 miles to Missoula . My water ran out and it was 98 degrees. I thought to myself .This is it you really screwed up this time . I had been finding bones of all kinds of animals .And one rib cage from a deer that still had dried blood on it . Not like it had just gotten killed and eaten. But still not old enough to not worry about it . I had no choice but to hike up a mountain to see if when at the top . I could see any human life off in the distance to try to hike to it .The climb with no water wore me out . I started thinking of things I had heard about running out of water .One of the things I heard was to put peoples in the mouth to create saliva . I did that and mentally said ok you will make it out .But that thought only lasted not to long . I looked and saw power lines in the distance many miles away . I knew those power lines went to close to where I had started hiking in . I also was hoping not to end up having to be not out by dark . And having to spend the night bedding down . I did make it out barely as it got dark at around 10 pm . Its one time I thought I am going to die . I really screwed up . So when I read how people have went hiking or hunting and never were found . It is no surprise to me . As it had been getting dark I surprised a elk on the way out . That sudden surprise and the noise it made before I had seen it . Was like a horror movie hearing a chainsaw starting right behind you .

This could be false, but I've heard it claimed that "paradoxical undressing" has never actually been witnessed and is just a theory.
Apparently even during situations like the Battle of Stalingrad, where large numbers of people were freezing to death, it wasn't witnessed. Although, maybe that's due to the fact that having other people around kept people more in their right minds, or people who tried to undress were prevented.
Yes, the battle of Stalingrad. German and Russian troops were freezing out there…..some froze to the ground, some froze while asleep and some froze while in a sitting position. However, they were all still fully dressed. There are WWII photos showing frozen soldiers who just froze to death where they were and they’re fully dressed and have boots on too.

About Aaron Hedges case: I want to know if the mule part of the story with Aaron's gear was verified. Without that being proven and just looking at the facts; his body was found far from the supposed "hunting area", his boots further down the trail than the cache and his backpack found miles away within sight of the ranch; it looks like he was murdered, his body dumped and the story just a cover-up and a misdirect to cover it up. His belongings were spread out all over the place just to dispose of them and confuse things even further. His "friends" did everything they could to confuse the facts, even the GPS location of a hand held 2-way radio, another plant. If there is a dead mule down the side of a cliff with Aaron's gear that could have been staged just like everything else. Why 2 horses and Aaron leading a mule when there were supposedly 3 men? Wouldn't all of their camping gear have been loaded onto the mule? Why just Aaron's gear on the mule? If Aaron had been riding the mule with his gear just like his 2 buddies were on their horses, it would have had a saddle as well as Aaron's gear. Saddles aren't cheap. Anyone I know who has saddles would have been down that cliff after that saddle just to see if it was still usable and to put the mule out of its misery in case it was still alive. They wouldn't have just gone "oh, well" and kept on going. So in other words Aaron's gear would have been retrieved and he wouldn't have gone off to the cache site.
Yup, if I was on that hunting trip and one of my mules went crazy and went over a cliff….that would be the end of that trip. I would immediately go back…get some help and look for the mule. That’s just crazy and I don’t believe that’s what happened. A mule isn’t going to just go crazy like that…also, the horses didn’t panic as well. This entire story is bogus. I believe NONE of it.

This is the most puzzling case yet !!! Nothing that happened makes any sense at all. Sincere condolences to his loved ones .
As you cover more and more of these cases you probably see things we don't. If his friends were doing drugs that would explain their lack of participation. If he set his weapons down then he immediately becomes bait. Never separate from your weapon even to urinate. If his boot were there then that is where he got tired of carrying boots and lightened his load and changed them. They should have metal detected the body area for possible bullet.
He apparently had sneakers on him for sneaking up on deer, perhaps he took his boots off to stalk one but then got lost.
