    Highly recommend putting together a full sheet of mods and letting your insurer know. I work motorcycle insurance full time and nothing worse than denying coverage for stuff like this that you know somebody put their blood, sweat and tears into it.

    • @friktionrc
      @friktionrc Před 5 měsíci

      I’m guessing many folks don’t let their insurers know about mods because it’ll invalidate their insurance and mean they have to spend way more on insurance. I know quite a few blokes back in the day who modded their cars and very rarely let their insurers know. The few that did used car modding as a way to get into track racing so we’re basically building road legal race cars.

    You changed the chain but not the sprockets. Try changing the rear, or front tooth count. Rebel factory gearing is quite short. More of a highway gear helps 1st gear be more useful without losing the intown fun. Also aftermarket rear sprocket look cooler. Lol. I love my rebel as much as my harley. Fun little hardly-a- davidson. Lol. Keep up the great vids. Lovin it!

    As soon as I finish my car, I'll start on my own Rebel. A lot of what I plan is on yours, except for fatter wheels and different bars. I've had mine since 88, so I want to do mine and then get an XS 650 engine ... or a Suzuki Savage. After I bought the Rebel in 88, I got a Honda 750 Four Supersports in 89 and a Honda 350 Triple in 91. The only one I liked and always went back to was the Rebel. Although I do admit that I would have liked to have chucked the 350 Triple in the Rebel. Customising these days is just much easier than it was thirty years ago.

    I would love to know if you could make some dirtbike tripple clamps fit on the neck and put some good used motocross frot forks on it. You can get a good pair of YZ 250 forks for almost nothing since model year isn't an issue and the weight is similar.

    • @FridaysTheBomb
      @FridaysTheBomb  Před rokem

      I don't know about fitting the triple clamps, but the forks on the Rebel are 33mm. Any fork that size should fit through the stock triple clamp.

    • @uSS-kc7fx
      @uSS-kc7fx Před rokem

      @@FridaysTheBomb You just need to find (or adapt) a "steering stem" from a triple clamp assembly to fit the inside diameter of the neck bearings in your bike. But finding better 33mm forks to bolt right on is probably a faster and cheaper alternative.

    • @FridaysTheBomb
      @FridaysTheBomb  Před 2 lety

      The overall diameter of the rear tire is actually the same as the original, despite the rim size being larger. I chose this wheel/tire combo for this reason, to avoid fitment issues. The chain fits fine since none of that was really modified.

    • @andreasevelyn9394

      @@FridaysTheBomb Cool :) I plan to keep the original front rim, and just get an extra front rim 18x1.85 and relace it with rear hub with a 3.5inch tire. To get an matching 18" like the old harleys. Do you think that keeping the standard front rim 18" will make a difference, with chain or frame rub in the rear? Also what size sprockets are you running now? Cool build tho ;) definitely one of the best I have seen.

      I did the rear myself, but ended up paying a shop to do the front. The spokes are custom length made by Buchanan Spokes. I had to also send the rear rim to Buchanan so they could re-angle the spoke holes. If this isnt done, the spokes will bow when connecting to rebels brake drum hub.
