I'm cheap! Yes, I am totally cheap, and spending 400€ on Happy Garland made me cry just a little bit. For a while I've been hunting down Bodyline pieces and in this video I want to share some love for this iconic "Lolita" "brand", its way too high quality shoes, its knockoff prints and its fall from heaven since they sadly barely sell Lolita anymore.

Omg your channel is BEYOND amazing quality, I’m genuinely so shocked you don’t have the recognition you deserve for your hilarious and perfectly edited and researched videos, they have such a cozy energy! Also, I remember hearing ALL the time about BL since I mostly follow older Lolitas and I was so shocked how it just disappeared from relevancy, and hearing about the AMAZING accessibility is painful since if it existed nowadays with so many younger people getting introduced to the fashion, we could have such a brighter and bigger community, esp with the shipping and plus size options omg!!! Taobao seems like such a nightmare to navigate so it’s sad and exhausting how it feels like the only option nowadays :((

Yeah it's honestly a shame. I feel like Bodyline would have such a great market if they restocked their shit, no need to draft new patterns. They had blouses with removable sleeves, really light-weight fabric, were ALL machine washable, shoes went up to 27.5 in size, socks for thic calves, you name it. Scalpers are getting way way too much money for BL pieces but since no new pieves are there this is often the only option.
Taobao is indeed a nightmare (and I can't access it atm at all since they purged accounts haha) so maybe...this is your chance, Bodyline!!

Same, and dito! Unless it's very specific dresses that were made in 3L or 4L, I don't fit them. Or if the sizing is all over the place like with the Amadeus Jsk which fits me in M size. :D But altering is a wonderful way of owning your wardrobe and staying comfortable.

Venus Angelic unfortunately, falling prey and later venting her negative experiences with Yan. The modeling contests were seriously predatory and gross.

I'm not a Lolita, but have been a fan of the fashion as I have friends who are lolitas since the 2000's, and 2 years ago I was at a swap meet here in Tijuana Mexico and I saw from far away what I thought was a mirage, I ran over and it was that ballon dress in the blue color way, a girl was selling some Bodyline dresses for dirt cheap (like 15 us dlls each) as she was no longer interested in Lolita, I called a friend of mine that was also my roommate, I told her what I found and bought them all for her, she was so happy as she only had two dresses and had told me she was sad she could not afford more in her new life (she was one year into transitioning 🏳️⚧️) and to see how happy she was to have those 3 dresses (one was the balloons one, another one was a cream color one and the third was a lovely tartan) made me so happy 💖💖💖

I've still got a few bodyline things, they've all held up even after about 10 years. The only reason I sold most of my Bodyline main pieces was because my taste became a lot less sweet, otherwise I'd probably still have them all.
It's incredible how sturdy they are. You can wash them no problem with other laundry and they don't need the *please wash me separately in a bag with minimum detergent*-treatment to sustain even a year of use. I feel like Bodyline tried back then to be like "Hey, we know we won't make it in the rorita market but here's some peices that are so good you'll be wearing them ten years from now" and they have succeeded lol
strangely enough Bodyline used to make gothic dresses too but I haven't been able to actually find one for sale ever.
about the sock replicas.... i bought some lolita styled socks from hot topic around 2021-2022 and it took me a WHILE to realize they're a knockoff of a somewhat popular ap sock design. the spot where the cursive AP was is just... squiggles. still cute and functional, though. also ive had another lolita ask me if i'm wearing innocent world but it was a bodyline jsk i bought in like 2021!! its quite old school styled and was dark brown with ivory chunky lace and a heart bodice with shirring and corset lacing in the back. i was a bit surprised when she asked and she was surprised to hear it was bodyline! i am all for being resourceful in lolita (got that thing on a good sale) and doing things that work for you and make you happy even if a few people think it's ita. has anyone else noticed that nobody really uses "ita" seriously anymore? i've always heard it used jokingly or in reference to the past. i even have a pin with cat ears on it that says ITA TRASH in a horror font lmao. great video

@EnyoBowBtch I totally believe that, I've seen roji roji printed thigh high bootlegs on amazon lol. but yeah ur so right!! it's just interesting in general seeing hot topic catering to (mostly sweet) lolita aesthetics. and TRUE some of my absolute fav lolita coords I've seen are so out of the box and funky♡ sometimes doing it "wrong" is a delightful spice of life. also OMGGG twinning wow!! mine is in pink lol, I like it for casual sweet and ive done some bittersweet sorta stuff with it too! I think many of my fondest items are bodyline..
I still have the Sailor Dress with the piano and music print I got from like...8 years ago??? And I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It has the same issue EVERY dress with a cheap invisible zipper has but still! It's forever dear to my heart~

I do hate the fabric they use on blouses though. And about the sizing i have pieces M, XL, 2XL, and 4XL their sizes are all over the place. I always check measurements thanks to BL. 😄

People said you need to let it sit in fabric softener but it never made my blouses less wrinkly and paper-y. I own one Bodyline blouse with detachable sleeves which thank goddess is soft enough to pass for cotton. :D

Thank you for this nostalgic trip down Bodyline memory lane. I used to own multiple items from BL, now it is down to 1 dress, which I still love dearly. It's easy to wash and take care of, no ironing. It's my go-to dress for messy events (food events, when toddlers are around, working with paint etc.). So sad, that bodyline is not as available anymore. And second hand prices are currently kinda overpriced, if you ask me.
And like you, as a teen or young adult, I also spend my allowance or summer job money there.

I remember how much BL was looked down upon in the past, how many times people talked sh!t about the quality (even though they did have questionable pieces), all the dresses I have had from them were great honestly! As you mentioned, they are super easy to wash and have lasted me over 10 years (still some of my most worn). I have been quite sad to see how much BL has seemed to give up on restocking Lolita, and how they stoped selling almost all of their designs.. soft serve in black was my first Lolita dress ever, and unfortunately I gave it away years ago because it didn’t fit anymore (that print has become one of my dream dresses, I’ll take any size or style variation of the black color way).

I remember all the negative comments about BL did bring me down a bit back then, but I am always super grateful the brand ever released all they did!
While everyone used to sh!t on it I was trying to collect as many as I could.. and there are many I regret not getting while I had the chance..
to be honest though, I always thought their prices were great, and even when they first started raising their prices it was still worth it to me (sh!ttier things sold for more at the mall honestly)
I remember staying away from the shiny jsk (back when shiny was SUPER ITA), but last year I got it, and I must say, it is honestly beautiful and amazing quality. One day I plan to make a one dress many different coordinates video. How to wear “ita” not ita ways..
RIP Bodyline, because they are even worse at restocking than before.. seems like they have been pushing it out.. I still have hope they will boom again.. but seems like it’s practically over..

Yeah I sincerely hope they come back. There's barely a Lolita brand that makes such great wardrobe padders like Bodyline and they don't even have to come up with new patterns. People would buy their stuff ASAP if they restocked. Thank you so much! My outfit is partly self-made (some accessories) and I have altered the dress. If you look up "Bodyline Cinderella Bunny Jsk" you'll get to see it in its original form. I have removed the beige parts as it doesn't fit the colors in my wardrobe and added white lace plus golden ribbon since the print has sparkly stars and a princess theme.

I am trying to find affordable starter pieces for a plus plus sized Lolita. My bust is is above 60inches. 🫤 I even bought a sewing machine no knowing how to.... To practice maybe combining two cheaper dresses? Any tips on finding things to fit me? Or cheaper dresses I can attempt to experiment on? Or people that offer custom versus spending 400 a dress???!! I'm so new to the community peaking from the outside looking in. I bought 2 pair of shoes. Lol.
Hey there, feel you! I am less busty but still own tits so it's kind of a relatable problem. I have a video coming up 24th of May talking about finding plus size pieces and where to get them. It''s lots of info but to make it short: you need custom pieces like for example by GlitterTale on Instagram or Facebook that also remake blouses of other brands if they're not in your size. Also Dollbe and Nightwhisper Lolita on Etsy offer up to 170cm bust with custom made designs. If you want to sew two dresses together (called frankendress lol) you should indeed practise to sew first. By that I mean a stragith stitch, then a pillow case, then more elaborate things. Also there is a plus size Loltia Discord where people show their alterations. Trust me you don't need to spend 400 dollars, but you need patience if you are - like me - not straight sized.
