And both bands were turned down by every major label. In Foreigner's case they were turned down twice by several of them before finally landing with Atlantic. It blows my mind what the so-called experts were hearing. Even Clive Davis turned them away. I was captured immediately when my high school buddy put their debut release into his VW Beetle's cassette deck one night when we were cruising around.
Again, not to repeat myself, but back in 77 when I bought this album and 8 track for my car, the guy at Butterfly Records told me the band would never last, but it was my money. Foreigner is still around, Butterfly Records isn't!
Jamel, you're doing a great job directing us to the blocked videos. I automatically look for the pinned comment, before I even start the video. Though I must admit, for newcomers, having you say it first off probably does help. Keep up the good work. Your reactions are crucial to making it through these tough times. And by the way, thanks for all the Foreigner videos. I'd forgotten how much I liked them. To you, and your family and friends, Stay Well.
1977!... What can I say man in high school girlfriends, parties, cruising, hanging out wherever, good backstreet drag races, music, movies, arcade rooms, skating rinks, a good atmosphere amongst people generally it was just a good time to be alive and I miss it!♥️🇺🇸
Your eyes says it all with your new headphones!! You hear more of the music, that goes along with the words. You can really feel it. Another great video!!!!
First time I heard this on the radio in 1977 I was thinking "Who are these guys"? And this after Boston and Al Stewart exploding on the scene less than a year earlier and Alan Parsons suddenly started getting airplay. All that plus Led Zeppelin at an Oakland "Day On The Green" concert made 1977 an incredible year for music. I miss having a record or stereo store on every other block.
If I haven’t said it, though I know many others have, thank you so much for bringing me back to the music that helped make me. With all my heart ❤️, thank you so very much!!! Peace be with you!!!
Awesome! I love sharing this stuff with you! Foreigner reigned as my favorite band for a while in high school. It’s kool to rediscover what I loved then. 😎 ~dobolina*
Teenage years - heard this song, Foreigner fan ever since. Lou Gramm is a vocalist with great range and control. This was my fav Foreigner song until.....”I wanna know what love is..” . That song became my favorite when I heard the choir join in.....such an uplifting message. Great reaction and keeping great music alive! Thank You! 🎼🎶😎
I think it was for my 13th birthday I got something like a jam box but it had an 8track player. My sister gave me this tape, and I played it over and over and over, while I worked outside that summer. Later I got to see them on the "Agent ProvocaTour". Oh my youth:)
Hey, Jamel, I am 72 years old, I still can't believe that number. Anyway, I absolutely love your show, my husband (63, always did love the younger guys) and I are addicted to watching you and enjoying you. By the way, Happy Birthday to your Mom, loved the coral roses. I've noticed you haven't reacted to Do Wop music, or am I just late to the party?. There is some great Do Wop music out there that I think you would love. One song that jumps out is The Five Satins doing 'In the Still of the Night', I think this is one you would really enjoy. Hope you get to it and then look into more Do Wop. Thanks for bring the music of our youth to so many to enjoy for the first time. Stay safe.
61 year old retired guy here. Been following your channel for awhile because you been reacting to alot of music I grew up with. You are what is right in this screwed up times we are going through now. Keep up the good work. You are doing more than you realize
First time in a long time from the first beat and right on time I sang this out loud by heart, and I haven’t heard it in many years. Haha. Just goes to show what you will remember from childhood when your older brother plays records endlessly. 😊 I know foreigner, journey, Styx, Joe Walsh, Boston...all his haha.
That album was the first music I ever purchased. I remember my mother checking up on me ,to see if I bought something that would rot my brain, took about a minute and she was smiling and rockin along with me .
Takes me back. Still the ultimate Foreigner song! Still holds up strong! It was also nice to see the dubbed audio in sync with the video on this one. Makes all the difference on this kind of video.
Ah unfortunately this is an edited version Jamel, missing about 30 sec - it’s ok thanks for reacting though! Please make sure to check if other videos have longer time-lengths to be sure!! 🙂❤️
@foreigner fan the original video got blocked. His full reaction is the pinned comment at that the top. He's had to start doing that because a lot of his videos are getting blocked so if you see another is the same way, always got to the first pinned comment in the feed :)
I went over to the other side and watched the full video there, but yes, it's definitely an edited version of the song. Thank you, Daniel Andrew, for linking a video of the full song for Jamel to listen to. 😊👍🏻
Yes I gave this link to you. It's my favorite Foreigner song of all time and this debut album is my favorite Foreigner album. It's one of the top 10 debut albums of all time
Since you've been indulging in so much Foreigner lately I think you should check out lead singer Lou Gramm's solo work. "Midnight Blue ", "Ready or Not", "Just Between You and Me".
I hate to make a reaction suggestion on an unrelated video, but, really, I don't know where else to make it. And perhaps Jamel can just add it to his long list of requests. Jamel, you've done Renegade by Styx before, but you haven't seen this rendition. As one CZcams commenter said in another place: "One the great things about CZcams is you can just stumble into something like this and have your mind blown." This is Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw performing Renegade with a Youth orchestra and choir out of Cleveland. The sheer gravity of this sent chills down my spine. And if you don't get around to seeing this comment, I hope enough of your fans see it and watch it just for the sheer experience of seeing two generations and two kinds of music come together so well. As an aside, another commenter said that Tommy Shaw is now on the downside of his 60s and finally looks like he can go into a bar and not get carded. I'm still not so sure about that :) czcams.com/video/-BoGWTO7BVA/video.html&ab_channel=DeputyDainty
Wow, my Jamel mojo is working overtime recently - caught this one fast! Blocked - heading over to Vimeo... meanwhile, thanks for reacting to this one, absolutely one of my faves. So applicable when you’re in that situation, starting over. (Yes, Spooky Tooth was a real band. So was Moby Grape... 🤣). ❤️❤️❤️
Happy Friday Jamel! I know you like 70's music, so I have a couple of suggestions: One is "Do you know What I Mean" by Lee Michaels and "Please Come to Boston" by David Loggins. There are also a lot of great 70's Motown songs by (The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, etc.) I especially like "Everybody Plays the Fool" by The Main Ingredient and "Have you Seen Her?" by the Chi-Lites. Thanks for your wonderful reactions, I really enjoy them!!!
Never understood why people like this song so much out of all Foreigner songs. Tried listening to it many times to see if I missed something but honestly, it doesn't even crack my top 30 Foreigner songs.
"Long, Long Way From Home": czcams.com/video/eedm15ZEaEg/video.html 👍 You can see from going through their stuff that they started out as a classic rock band, and then had this huge pop hit with "I Want to Know What Love Is" and other ballads like "Waiting for a Girl Like You". So they kind of got tagged with pop ballads, and people sort of forgot they were a rock band. They lost their "street cred" with rock fans a little bit and were viewed as having "gone soft", etc. But good songs are good songs, and they were always aiming for the radio. "I Want to Know What Love Is" is on a whole different plane, it's like a different band, but then Lou had some health problems, became a born again Christian, and has made Christian music since then. Hello! I just subscribed--been watching you for a while. Love your reactions and comments. Couldn't find any recent Zeppelin. Can I suggest something from the O2 concert in London? They reunited for the last time. In this, they are in their 70's and Jason Bonham is drumming. They still got it, even at 70 yrrs old!
Here’s the full Video vimeo.com/456955521
Try "Headknocker"
Blue Morning Blue Day! Must react😉 and Head Games
You need to listen to EIVOR: TROLLABUNDEN. Just her, a mic and a hand drum. Her vocals are amazing.
Please listen to "One Tin Soldier" By Original Caste or from the Billy Jack soundtrack! This song is life changing! Please
i have a heart breaker for you, Jason Isbell if we were vampires, your not ready for it
I found Boston and Foreigner the same week back in the seventies and was hooked.
This is the song that made me fall in love with Lou Gramm and Foreigner. Thank you!
"It must be the woman in you that brings out the man in me" is such a simple, yet awesome lytic!
Again, not to repeat myself, but back in 77 when I bought this album and 8 track for my car, the guy at Butterfly Records told me the band would never last, but it was my money. Foreigner is still around, Butterfly Records isn't!
If experts knew as much as they think they do they'd shut up.
Wow......did you wake an old memory. I havn't thought about Butterfly records for years.
Bam! Tell it again Dave Owens!
Every reaction I watch of yours feels like the first time
Haha I hear you.
Lol jamel taking the Foreigner deep dive.
Glad to see you staying with it.
It must be frustrating with CZcams. Keep the faith man keep the faith.
Okay so I want to go back to the 70s. Who's with me? We just gotta catch that Love Train and BOUNCE OUT !!!
Foreigner “ long long way from home “
There first hit
Their third hit... it was the third single pulled from the debut following “Feels Like The First Time” and “Cold As Ice”. Great song!
@@davidgaines9892maybe the first one i remember from them on a ktel album. the beginning sounds like Kiss

I’m a 52 year old UPS driver in Austin Tx and I’m addicted to your channel love you brother
I met Lou after a show a few years back. VERY nice guy & MAN he still has his chops!
Head Games is a great one, too
Once again, Foreigner gives me the goosebumps, every time I listen to their songs.
Yes Jamel! Love love love!!!

Foreigner was my first concert ever back in the 70’s, just about went deaf for several days it was so loud.
If I haven’t said it, though I know many others have, thank you so much for bringing me back to the music that helped make me. With all my heart ❤️, thank you so very much!!! Peace be with you!!!
I have always loved this song. I’ve heard it 10,000 times, but it’s my first time seeing the video. Lol
After Lou left the band he had another hit on his own called Midnight Blue that you’d like - sounds very Foreigner like
Thank you so much for having the other link for us to watch the video. I can’t tell you how many videos I have had to watch through the link.
Please react to Long Long Way from Home and Head Games! Two Greats!!
I saw Foreigner in 1985 in St Louis, they played hit after hit the whole show.

I consider this more or less a wedding song but one of my all time favorites from Foreigner. Thanks for your reaction Jamel!
I used to sing this in a classic rock band. It always brought the people to the dance floor!

Or Starrider
Oh yeah. Headknocker and Starrider are both great but rarely heard.
Jamel, the lead guitarist Mick Jones wrote this song, he's British and was in Spooky Tooth. Brother Lou is American from New York.
Lou's from Rochester.
I don’t even have to request songs...everyone is doing it for me! Good taste everyone!
This is my most favorite songs from this band!!
AHHHHH GREAT, YOU GOT TO THEIR DEBUT SONG! LOL :) RIGHT ON
Spooky Tooth was a pretty cool band. "Better By You, Better Than Me" is a great song from them.
He should react to The Mirror too
woman
Judas Priest version as well
Jamel, my brother, with you, every song feels like the first time. Love watching you!
How can you not get feel good vibes from this song or any song by Foreigner for that matter?

This song came out during my very first crush. This song said everything I was feeling and more❤️
Don't forget Mr Neil Pearts BIRTHDAY Sept 12th.

Lou Gramm, a definite power house singer. Foreigner had a lot of great songs. This was the first that turned me on to them.

Love your channel, Jamal! Can you review “That Was Yesterday” by Foreigner? I think it’s one of Lou Graham’s best vocals.
Since you've been indulging in so much Foreigner lately I think you should check out lead singer Lou Gramm's solo work. "Midnight Blue ", "Ready or Not", "Just Between You and Me".
FYI only his two piece suit is Giorgio Armani not Adidas.. the logo was bothering me so did some research.
This may be my favorite song from these guys.
Please react to “(Don’t fear) the reaper” by the Blue Oyster Cult
