We are back with more luxury watch buying and selling action at Watchtrader & Co.
First customer has his Oris Pro Diver Chronograph alongside a two tone Submariner Date for sale. The Oris is a serious titanium dive watch with an impressive size and specification, however, the market for such a specialised watch is quite small. Can Jon make the seller an offer that will get the deal over the line?
We respond to your comments on our previous video. Josh and Harry take a seat in the studio to weigh up a trade between a Panda Daytona and GMT Sprite before debating whether the slate dial Yacht-Master is truly underrated. Finally we explain why a customer might decide to swap a Rolex Explorer II Polar dial for a GMT-Master II Batman at the cost of £6k. We discuss the current market situation and why, for some, this might be the more cost and time effective option.
Jon looks to secure a purchase of an everose 126621. The watch is dated 2022 and in need of refurbishment before it can be sold. With this cost in mind, can he make an offer that will complete the deal?
Hendo is in the studio with a selection of vintage timepieces that are sure to peak the interest of those with a passion for patina. The first being a Seamaster from the 1950’s with a fantastic aged dial - something that would be near on impossible to re-create. Next up is a Breitling chronograph ‘Foot Ball’. This gold plated watch is on a black leather strap fitted with an Omega tang fastener. Te star of the show has to be the Dirty Dozen watch manufactured by Omega. This has to be one of the finest condition examples of this famous military watch available on the market.
Back in the shop we’re looking at a GMT-Master II from 2001 reference 16710. The gentleman purchased the watch new for £2,100. Now he is looking for a Deepsea James Cameron in part-exchange.

Thanks for letting us know
Sacriledge selling a mint 16710 for a James Cameron
Yeah. That is a poor decision
The yacht master40 Rhodium is a stunner.
Really struggling to make my mind up between a Rolex Submariner Date or a Rhodium Dial Yachtmaster - I love the classic look of the Submariner and I love that the Yachtmaster, it almost blurs the lines between a dressy/sporty watch. It would be interesting to see a Rolex Submariner Date with a polished oyster bracelet... its a shame that's not a possible combination from factory!
Have you considered the GMT-Master II reference 116710LN? It looks similar to the Sub but has polished centre links on the bracelet
@@Watchtrader I have - it’s slowly coming into contention for sure. I just need to find a nice one to try on and see what I think. What do you think about them when it comes to long term investment?
Got both slate dialled yachmaster and datejust. 41..The dial on the yachmaster seems to my eyes to pop a bit more than the 41 - so probably not the same base dial, but just with different markers.
Not a fan of the comments/questions segment, no offence but prefer the deals, etc in the shop. Recently came across your channel (1 month ago) and really enjoy it, keep up the good work! Nick.
Thanks for the feedback
I never understood the fascination with patina. Why would anyone pay more for a watch that looks old and worn? I would never buy and pay more for a Porsche with faded paint and pitted chrome.
Fair point! Thanks for tuning in
Thanks for the mention. One point I would make about the YM 40 is it’s not an alternative to a submariner it’s usually an addition to one! I know a few people who own and LOVE the YM 40 but they have a few in the rotation as it’s not as versatile as a sub etc
That’s a fair point, thanks for watching
I do like that Oris and would happily pay £800+ for it. The sprite is also a favourite of mine, great watch
Thanks for tuning in
The discussions are so intriguing!
Thanks for tuning in!
@ 7:30 For the RRP of the current Yachtmaster, I’d go discontinued Yachtmaster 35mm at £5.5K and a Datejust 16233 at £5.5K and you’d have sports and dress and even full sets if you shop around.
35mm for a gents sports watch would have quite a narrow appeal but it works for some!
Paid £8k for the polar explorer last week
On the website for £10k now

Again , great video. It’s fun to watch you making deals. And don’t take some comments to serious. Many of these people might never be able to come and shop at your store. 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for tuning in, we appreciate it!
Great video as always. Ignore the trolls. I’m guessing these guys are ignoring the fact you have at least 6 weekly wages to pay and rent on the store etc. Don’t get me wrong but I do think every second hand dealers moral compass is a little skewed. I’m talking about cars, jewellery etc not just watches. They know the value of something and offer you less so they can make money off you. It is what it is and it’s always been that way. If you don’t like it don’t watch. Simples.
100% agree with you. So many trolls always going on about pricing. Gets boring. Do they not understand that a business has to make a profit. I would like to see them paying higher prices and making enough to cover all costs associated with running a business and profit on top. Bet they don't even own a decent watch. Why troll when they can just stop watching, because they have nothing better to do. The watch market is not what it used to be. They forget that.
@@Lee-pf2uv Totally agree with you. Some people are just sad and have nothing better to do than troll CZcams.
Everyone talks about the rhodium yacht master 40. What about the blue face? It's stunning to me! How's the value retention for the blue face yacht master?
Hello there! I really enjoy watching your videos and I have a question about the Oysterflex strap. I was wondering if you could demonstrate how to adjust it on different watch models. I've heard that you can cut them to size like on Patek watches, but I'm not sure if that's the only option. Is there any other way to adjust the strap, besides the Glidelock system?
The Oysterflex straps cannot be cut to size like a Patek rubber strap. There are two rubber parts to the strap that come in various fixed sizes. When you buy an Oysterflex watch it will be fitted to your wrist size. Hope this helps
Another excellent video and I did enjoy the comments section and like your new studio background ✊
Glad to hear it. Appreciate the feedback!
Watched the earlier video back. So two 2017 models traded, which the fella probably paid around £10.5k on the Daytona, and the one purchased in Barbados was probably less than £8k without tax on and exchange rate. Both also out of guarantee. So say £19k trade gets you a Ghost Daytona worth £31k? Yes please.
Hi just to give some feedback as you asked in your video I like your channel it's very well made and all of you come across well (some better than others ) but one thing that's coming across is that sometimes the trade in prices are a bit mean and I no in my case I would Ivor buy the watch outright (if I was happy with the price) or if I needed the trade in I would probably walk away if I thought it was not a fear price.i must admit 8k for a bi metal sub it would be a no deal trade in for me and I do own the Oris pro driver the one you had is in really good condition so seems a little bit cheap as it will sell for £1500 minimum to 2k so good video thanks John.
Thanks for the feedback and for tuning in!
The Q&A was okay but I’d suggest making it mid-week content as a stand alone segment.
Thanks for the feedback
'Invest' in another watch. Lol. Said with a straight face. Come off it.
Enjoyable video guys good to see the vintage watches
Thank you Simon
Deal of the week ,breitling 43mm not sure about that. Lovely watch
20 minutes. We are being spoiled! 🔥
Glad to hear it!
Over last few months I’ve been binging your videos. Besides first 10 episodes I watched years ago. I caught up with the others, felt like watching a few seasons of walking dead 🤣 great stuff guys keep it up. One day I’ll be purchasing myself a luxury time piece from you guys. 👍🏾
We’re glad to keep you entertained. You’re welcome anytime!
Hi Harry, love the content. Could you do a Q&A or specific episode on the checks you guys carry out to ensure a watch is not fake or Frankenstein? Be interesting to see given the quality of some fakes out there in the market these days. Cheers!
20 minutes exactly 😊
Thanks for watching!
Good Video Chaps… love a deal of the week (x3 😂) quite a saving for some Breitling lover 👏🏻 keep up the good work 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi lads. I appreciate your continued content and have watched you for a long time. Keep up the great work and ignore people who are negative
Thanks for the feedback and for tuning in!
Man, if that wrist check had the Oyster 🥵😮💨
Deal of the week gone 😢 lovely watch that
I like the comment section
I had a choice between Panda from the grey market or Sprite from AD. I chose the Sprite from AD. Then I bought a black 126500ln. Now I have two beautiful watches instead of one. In my opinion Panda is overrated and hard to read the time. Also I’m not a big fan of those sub dial black circles. It would look much better with completely black sub dials.
Love that 16710!! 🔥🔥🔥
Quality lads
Appreciate it
Rolex are really king of the watch world.
the Seiko turtle dark night is so much better than the Rolex batman.
Interesting take on watch polishing. Do you polish all of your watches then advertise them as in excellent condition? Guessing the average Joe won’t give a monkeys but the more knowledgeable purchaser might want the watch in worn condition such that the number of polished along the way is zero and you have a watch in original lines not potentially polished to within an inch of its life every 6 months.
Appreciate the comment
8k for a ceramic bi metal 😂 they sell them for 12£+ the usual needs a polish or a glass then bid them 4 k less. Get these clowns gone
Whats with the silly boxes? Something kids would gravitate towards.
I do not get it. Why is a rolex so much more expensive than a Timex Remember Timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The only reason I see to buy a Rolex is to say hey i'm better than you when actually I am not
So is it dead, or is it mostly dead?
That “addressing the comments” section felt a bit desperate, lads. Best not to say anything sometimes.
The you tube comment section was dire especially the james cameron chat, answer doesnt make sense
How can you not understand the answer. He said people do their research first. So they probably had lower offers elsewhere and agreed to.theres.
This segment is pish to be honest guys. Stick to the videos of just selling the watches. 👍🏼
I'd have to agree, feels like the lettuce in a sandwich to just try and bulk it out! Shame we don't get the 30-45 minute videos where they go to London anymore!
What's the obsession with the newer style rolex... They are awful.. Bigger and polished to give it bling... Give me a faded worn 70s 80s..even 90s any day...
What’s with the obsession of folk who prefer faded 70 80 or 90,s Rolex?
It’s called, ‘each to their own.’
I’d rather have that slightly beat up 73 Submariner Hendo had than a brand new Daytona any day
but not at 10,15,20k because as much as the older rolex are nice, by todays standard they have poor bracelets, clasps, powers reserves and about everything else. when you 1990's pepsi's going for 10-14k it's just mad money. outperformed by a modem tudor gmt
Modern Rolexes are much better built than the older ones. Scratch proof bezels and crystal, solid links and more durable. Give me a modern Rolex anyday over the old stuff.
Class or Crass take you pick .. 😂 4 and 5 digit for watch people and the new stuff for the clueless 😅
Some really poor advice here. The pivot is placing the onus on the buyer to do their research...yet it is the grey market guys who literally hyped the market in recent times who then amped up buyers to overpay for a mass produced watch as the pandemic cash rolled around like an irresponsible child🎉. I know I lost, I did, it hurts.
You are trying too hard to deflect attention away from a collapsed market, in which basically all of your customers lost a lot of money. A lot. We are all losers, I get that, but the overly defensive position here is shallow. Did you not have some seriously disreputable characters in your store, braggards with their own channels that are now weirdly changed into nutjob political crap merchants? Oh yes, you did. It blew up in all our faces, say it then. Be humble.
Trust has gone. Rolex? Utter jokers are these ADs.
you haven't lost unless you genuinly thought they were offering financal advice!, you have brought a product in booming market so yes, you will lose if you sell in a flat market but if you buy for what it is. a luxury product then the market value doeeby matter. and they were simply saying people do research before selling. it's weird, it's as if people think these guys don't have the right to earn a living. tbey will be sitting on a lot of stock they have paid 'covid' premiums for so they would have lost far more than any of us.
@carlmoulton5719 I don't disagree, Carl. However, the way the grey dealers pumped up the market, there was more than an implication that these trinkets were an 'investment'. Rolexes generally appreciate over a long period of time, this latest bubble though, wow, a total farce, and grey dealers do have to own some of the responsibility for the mess, is my main point. Look at the stuff the America, it's toe-curling. WT are not bad guys, I've met some of them, they rode the market is all. Associating with some of the major creeps, though, not good.
The "nutjob political crap merchant" wouldn't happen to be the one who used to say "Hello watch people" at the start of all his videos?
Brilliant format for watch fans, keep up the great work guys. 👏🏻⏱👌🏻
Thanks for tuning in, glad you enjoyed it
