I have watched the Andy Griffith show since its inception (I'm 73) and never fail to laugh out loud at these - especially, of course, Barney and Barney interacting with Otis.😂
Lol this was hilarious!!! I loved when Barney would do something to make Otis prove that he was sober. The best line was "Slow it down and let me in or I'll go out and get some gin." If I was on the set, I'da lost it from laughing so hard. I don't think I could ever be an actress, especially in a comedy because I probably wouldn't help, but laugh after a line or in the middle of a line.
@@patcarter313 Oh, I know what you mean. I know for a fact if I was a camerawoman I'd have been in trouble all the time from making the camera shake from laughing.
I understand too, that he never drank n his life. So when Mayberry reunion was going to b cast. He was told to come back as the old Otis, the drunkard. He turned it down. Something about kids watching the show, he didn't want to promote drinking as 'fun'.
LOL Andy and Don were so great together! (originally Andy was going to be the funny one with Don as the "straight man" but early on they realized it would be funnier the other way)
They made the right choice, because in my opinion Andy looks like the kind of guy who would do jobs smoothly and very laid back where as Don looks like the kind guy who would mess everything up lol
I'm 13 but this is one of my favorite shows and this is definitely my favorite episode. I showed my grandmother and said "Remeber this" and she laughed so hard. I wish they would bring back old shows like this or "Gilligans Island" or at least make a remake of the episodes.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What show can match the creative genius of The Andy Griffith show? A cast of characters unequaled on the small screen. Clueless Floyd the barber and Otis, the most loveable town drunk on the globe. Aunt Bea and Opie, played to perfection by Frances Bavier and Ronnie Howard. Howard was clearly the greatest child actor ever. Then to top it off, Andy Griffith playing protector and straight man to the greatest comic talent of all time.. The incomparable Don Knotts. How priceless to see an officer of the law jumping rope with a prisoner!? Knotts was so expressive as Barney Fife he could make you laugh with facial and body gestures alone. Griffith sacrifice his own screen time because of Knotts incomprehensible talent. This show set the standard because of the beautiful collaboration between the actors. Ron Howard said it was the saddest day of his childhood when The Andy Griffith show left the air. I would have been saddened too. To be a part of such a creative process was a true joy. NO show will ever match it.
I love that show I still watch it I love the part where Barney is jumping rope with Otis that was a good one oh, and the one where he gets the wishes 3 wishes the fingerprint set that was a good one too
"If people see me doing that, they'll think I'm really drunk."
Every line Otis has in this scene is hilarious.
You know even after all these years I never get tired of watching them no matter how many times I watch it over!!
That's the truth. It just doesn't get old. 👍❤️
@@Daveoceanair Me too ever since about 1961 (second season) The black and whites (1960-65) are by far the funniest.
Ditto!
Same here! Humors me every time!
This show is Gold! Love it and impossible to ever get tired of it!!!
This show holds up so well even all these years later! When something is done so well, it never loses its charm!
Otis" Slow it down and let me in or I'll go out and get some gin" 😂
😂😂🤣freakin hilarious!😂
Don: Call for the doctor, call for the nurse! Call for the lady with the alligator purse!!
😂
Priceless, Don was a comedy genius ‼️
Otis: "slow it down and let me in or I'll go out and get some gin"
Barney: " Now cut that out"
Opie: "Pa! Pa! Pa!"
Violet Ashel classic
Call for the doctor
Call for the nurse
Call for the lady with the alligator purse
Otis is legen.......wait for it......DARY!!
Don't be fooled. These are 2 very violent racist killers
Ya know, Barney is just the best. Even though it's been years since I watched this I always get a good laugh.. This was really great TV.
Andy was laughing after otis said that
Don Knotts was PERFECT for his part!
Everyone was well cast.
He sure was!!!
HRobert Gift
Knotts was perfect, because he created that character.
Otis: "Slow it down and let me in or I'll go out an get some gin!" LOL
Don: NOW CUT THAT OUT!!!

A classic Barney/Otis confrontation!

I don't know how cameramen , producers and directors were able to film Andy Griffith episodes.without wetting their pants from laughter.
@@patcarter313 Oh, I know what you mean. I know for a fact if I was a camerawoman I'd have been in trouble all the time from making the camera shake from laughing.
You ain't gonna string me up for just a little drinking? That ain't right 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂
That line absolutely kills me 😂😂😂
Don’t be silly, This is a jumprope
1:02 "If people see me doing that (jumprope), they'll think I'm really drunk" LOL
That line by Otis never gets old! 😂
Otis was the best character on the show. Hal Smith seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
He played Old King Cole in the Mother Goose Treasury video, volume 1.
He was also the original mr Whittaker on the adventures in odyssey radio program! Wonderful actor!
I was amazed when I read all the shows he did and was a war vetran in WWII. Very talented. Still think Otis was his best and always cracked me up.

@@yosefpenn-leon834 Mr Whittaker?? really? Wow. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
As old as these shows are never get tired of them sitcoms of today just can’t match with these classics
“Slow it down and let me in, or I’ll go out and get some gin.”
- Otis Campbell
“Now cut that out!”
- Barney Fife
Always love this scene. Otis little rhyme cracks me up.
True comedic chemistry.
Otis alive & well... still live'n in Mayberry forever in our hearts as all the others are as well

Barney was a nut.i love every movie he was in, was a great actor.
LOL Andy and Don were so great together! (originally Andy was going to be the funny one with Don as the "straight man" but early on they realized it would be funnier the other way)
Totally Right!
@Pam Schobelock it would have sucked equally if it had been Andy that left. The show needed them both.
They made the right choice, because in my opinion Andy looks like the kind of guy who would do jobs smoothly and very laid back where as Don looks like the kind guy who would mess everything up lol
@@JustAnotherConspiracyTheorist they tried it. They called it Mayberry RFD
My son always loved this episode! LOL
This is where everyone recites the lines we just heard.
Slow it down and let me in or I'll go out and get some gin
Barney Fife: Now CUT That Out!
I mean, that’s just classic
Best show ever made.

I fell out of my chair laughing at that line
The only miserable people in this show were the married ones (Otis.)
That's very funny what Otis Campbell said about he is going to get some gin and Barney Fife told him to cut that out
