In this video I will be breaking down why I believe Kylie Jenner is no longer in her " King Kylie" era. What do you guys think? Not only Kylie grew up too fast in my opinion, she was hanging out with older people in their mid 20s while she was barely 18 herself. Tyga who was like 25 at the time, groomed her at a young age and her family just sat there and watched. Plus her getting pregnant at 19 kinda made other teenage girls think it's ok to be teen mothers when in reality, kylie lives a lavish lifestyle where she can take care of a child but the average teen don't have that option. Not saying Kylie is responsible for other people's actions but she does know her influence plays a huge role on younger girls views and decision makings.
Huge component!! She was hanging out with (might I say) controversial celebrities and influential ppl at just as young as 14. Though I don’t fully put the blame on her because I feel ppl need to individually monitor their own children, but she has definitely negatively impacted a whole generations self esteem due to her own insecurities

Her downfall was when she had her child… let’s be honest. Kylie has other priorities now. And the teens that loved her are adults now with lives of their own. Insta & Snapchat are no longer popular, it’s TikTok and there’s a new wave of influencers that are more relatable to teens now. Also, makeup CZcams isn’t such a thing anymore.

I used to be obssesed with king kylie back when I was 15/16 now I am 20 but I feel her posts give off older generation vibes and tiktok influences in their early 20's have a more fun and relatable vibe I enjoy. No effense but she is just not as popular as she was before when we got to see her inside life , funny moments, dance videos she posted back then. She was really free and living the best.

I don't think it was her first child that was her downfall bc u have alot of young girls who get pregnant early if anything it prolly made her "more" relatable 🤔....However... I think it was her having her 2nd child that contributed to her being diluted.. along with the whole Travis Scott concert fiasco.

Took a while for the majority of us to realize that our attention, our outrage was helping them but once we did and the shock started to wear off that’s when they started to sink. same with her cosmetics. People have complained about there barely being any lipsticks in the tubes.
i also think kylie made a big mistake in coming out with kylie skin. maybe the timing was wrong but i think it really diluted her brand. rather than focus on modernizing and revamping kylie cosmetics, she chose to start a whole other brand when the first one was having problems to begin with. she tried to do a huge overhaul with kylie cosmetics but i think she should’ve done that before moving onto anything else.
and i completely agree that kylie isn’t keeping up with the trends. the 2016 cosmetics craze is long gone. people aren’t buying hundreds of palettes to collect anymore. the huge collections kylie sold were one of the main drawing points of her brand. problem is, people don’t need that much makeup, and as consumers i think we’ve outgrown the need for massive collections like that. i remember when youtubers had whole rooms filled with makeup; people see that as wasteful now. nobody wants to contribute to more overconsumption. i think she needs to go back to the drawing board if she wants to save this company… and fast.

I so remember the era of having soooo much makeup you never use. I was like 15-16 at the time and always wanted more and more makeup palettes for legit no reason lol. I only wanted more because that was the craze at the time and all the beauty gurus just had makeup on top of makeup. People like a simple makeup routine now.

Yes, and watching many influencers take a million steps to put on their make-up. Talk about a time suck! So many steps are confusing and impractical! Plus, any dermatologist will tell you to not mess with your skin too much, on any level including cleansing. Foundation worsens the health of skin, and then you need more and more to cover it up! A total racket of making money off of insecurity!

Basically after her and tyga broke up, she got pregnant 5 mins after her and TS started dating and went into hiding… that completely killed her era. It was never the same since. Her whole vibe changed, she became extremely private and a boring mom.

I think she lost popularity for many reason 1.) Kylie gives off older vibes even though she’s 25 like her face looks 30 and she’s a mother of two kids 2.) being a bm devalued her you would think because she’s Kylie Jenner he would’ve been married her but no he didn’t which was shocking being a bm isn’t as praised in the white community as it is in the black (ex Jayda,Ari etc ) 3.) She’s “boring” Kylie only pops up to show you her lavish life and to sell you something king Kylie gave a typical teenager rich but she was fun but now she’s like secretive.

After I posted I totally forgot I didn’t mention that, but after reflecting I realized it didn’t really make that big of a difference because she still had a bunch of supporters including Travis. I did a separate video on the incident though when it first happened

I think another thing worth mentioning here is just the downfall of the makeup community and makeup allure in general. Makeup is the new fast fashion nowadays and a new launch is simply not as exciting as it once was. So if when Kylie launched her brand it was a big deal, now it's just one of the many with similar products. And like you said, after the pandemic, no one wants to spend 5h to put 7kg of makeup on their face.
it’s also a waste of money. most people aren’t playing with makeup and doing creative looks. simple products for everyday wear is where most people are at. eyeliner is the most crazy

there's a leaked interview for a magazine cover with pregnant Kylie, Travis & Stormi about their "modern family dynamic" they described their union as both of them being single but raising their kids as a family. The magazine cancelled the cover bc a month before its release Astroworld happened. I remember Kylie once said in an interview that she was not "supposed to be famous." She seems to be a naturally more private person than her sisters. Kendall and Kim both said they enjoy the fame they have found, but Kylie seemed to want a more private life. So, maybe this is what she wants after all and why she is keeping Baby 2 a secret.
I feel like her wanting more privacy also has to do with the fact, that when you look at her vine era, you could see she had a goofy; humorous side but then a lot of people, always used to make fun of her. So, I feel like once she got the surgeries to make herself look more mature, she also adopted a more mature image on social media. As she's grown older & become a mother, I feel she no longer sees a reason to be as open as she was when she was younger so she values her privacy a lot more now. I feel she's more guarded and wants to protect herself more since her life was for public viewing from when she was nine.

I have never believed that anything Kylie has ever posted is genuine to her actual personality because I just don’t think that Kylie has a bold or fun personality. People that aren’t super creative the way that they stay relevant is by copying whatever they see and projecting that out there and I don’t think that anybody in that family really does anything more than that.

I feel like her not being relatable anymore has nothing to do with money. Because even during her king kylie era she was still very much wealthy. When it comes to us relating to her, she was a teenager and her fanbase at the time were teenagers or in their early twenties. So I feel like we subconsciously tried to live through her in that era. As you said, she showed a lot through Snapchat. She showed us everything she was always doing. So even if you were a poor teenager, when you saw Kylie Jenner it was as if you could live through her. But that changed when she became a mom and we all grew up. Now we are all in our twenties and have careers, jobs, and families. Kylie is not as open as she was during her king kylie era and only shows the more business side of her now which is not relatable at all. When she would post everything in her king kylie era it was as if we were all there with her. It's not the same anymore. We can not relate to her anymore because we all grew up and have to start our own lives so we cant live through her any more.

I used to love watching her snap videos compilations on CZcams lol, the change/shift did happen when she became a mom BUT I think the crack in the surface was when she started dating Tyga. He was a grown man with a baby who preyed on her and as teenagers (not me cause even then I thought the sht was weird) but majority of her teenage fanbase ate it up and now that they’re older they see like wait a minute that wasn’t right and it was right around the time of Life Of Kylie because immediately after she was pregnant with stormi.

Kylie's brands sell her image during a time of hyper-individualism.Look at her Make-Up and skincare, all the advertisements are all about herself.That may have fruited in the 2010s were people were copying celebrities they idolized, but nowadays people want to differentiate themselves from other people, Make-Up that advertises itself as turning you into somebody else doesn't grow fruits.Her skincare line is an even better example, costumers are more educated about dermatology and chemistry than ever, they know that they have unique skin types, conditions and concerns that need individual treatment.We know that just because somebody has great skin, their routine will not give you the same results, especially considering that lifestyle, genetics and professional treatments are a big factor too.Yet Kylie Skin is all about her.Her marketing is outdated.
Kylie was doomed the day she started to get plastic surgery’s, to look older , when she was in deed a child. How would she keep up with her peers in the next 10 yrs. She wanted to be too grown way too fast, now she looks grown and her fans can’t relate. She also is selling an heavy aesthetics, because she’s insecure of her natural looks, her fans are teenagers and 12 yr old kids. Whilst Rihanna is 34 shoeing her real natural beauty, selling a way more natural fresh aesthetics. Even Selena Gomez goes natural a,d show that less is more. Kylie selling drag Queen heavy @$$ makeup, burlesques makeup aesthetics lol.
It’s not too late for her though, she needs to step away from the brand a little. Use other models, shoot campaigns , donate to a worthy cause. Hire an array of inclusive models, pay them big bucks and let them feel good about it. When Rihanna hire these random models, from off the internet. Some of these girls have natural acne prone skin, blemish skin, etc. these girls buys cars the next week, after receiving their checks, lol. Rihanna is doing something, kylie is not!
Kylie whole brand is a mock-up copy of huda beauty, tart cosmetics. She stole the lip logo from that lady that sued them, but she quietly settled, so her brand has no integrity, it’s a cash grab for that family.

kylie swim definitely fell off. The last IG post from that page was from June 2022. And I can't stand the way her website looks. Its alll pink and yellow which is hard on the eyes! its giving childish preteen. With her making millions she could have hired a better web developer and graphic designer.
Back when she used to do vines she was fun to watch. Then she started dating an older man that's when she messed up, seems Tyga came with a bag full of insecurities and splashed in her. She went from looking cute to a typical rapper's girl. Fillers, Botox and bbl.

This was a great thinkpiece. I’ve also spent some time ideating on the ways Kylie can shift her brand from what it is to being one that is more human, aspirational, considerate, genuinely vulnerable and fundamentally inclusive. I’d love to learn about what she thinks about, what inspires her, her insecurities, how her mind works…what life truly looks like from her lens. She needs to be less produced and more as this dope Kiki who’s looking for herself again and honest about that journey.

But the fact that others were able to do what she does but in a better way ( like the cosmetics ) also played a huge part in putting her behind in people's eyes.

I think you hit the nail on the head with Kylie becoming a mother. Many people brought her makeup because they wanted to look like her, and after she had stormi, she lost her original sexy and sophisticated look and her style completely changed. The king kylie era is when everyone was obsessed because that was when she looked her absolute best.

this makes complete sense. I am a zennial and it looks like makeup is going back towards 90s and early 2000's. which except for the hard lip liner majority of it was very soft and more of a natural beauty look done with makeup. Which is probably easier for a lot of people who do not have the time or the know-how to "beat their face". I also noticed that eyebrows are going back to being very soft and feathery which is more like a natural eyebrow.
I really truly think that the TikTok era of social media is the final nail in this family's coffin in terms of how people view them. TikTok has absolutely blurred the line between "regular people" and celebrities and, for better or for worse, brought them down to the same level as the rest of us. Yes, they are still wealthier than a majority of us will ever be in our lifetimes, but that's just it. No one is really aspiring to be them anymore because they have made it crystal clear to everyone just how BORING and painfully unrelatable they are. I will die on this hill, money can't buy personality. They waited way too long to join TikTok and then once they did, it was because they saw how much money people were making, but everyone had already moved on from celebrity worshipping due to COVID and shifting priorities. One of the reasons Kylie Cosmetics fell off is because people aren't hoarding entire makeup collections anymore. Especially recycled collections coming out monthly that cost $250-$300. Would I love to see this family disappear into the void and just live normal lives and leave us all alone? Absolutely, but that will never happen, as long as we keep them relevant. The last I can do is hope that people finally realize that they will do everything in their power to draw that line between you and them, and that no matter what you do, or as Kween Kim puts it, "get your ass up and get to work," you will never achieve their level of status and they NEED you to know that. I have NEVER been a fan of any of them, and it's been tiring watching them literally take over the world for the past 15 years

I used to be obsessed with her king Kylie era. I remember hyping up her style of eating ramen as if that’s what she eats like us normal folks😂 i remember playing the kylie and Kendall app. I remember loving her lipglosses and literally being at school refreshing the page during the holiday drop around 2015 trying to make sure the one I wanted wasn’t sold out. She used to be very relatable back then. I think another issue is that those who were into king Kylie are now adults. I’m 21 now, 15 year old me ate that up, but now I have different interests and I don’t care to stay in the loop of celeb business. I also don’t buy her makeup anymore because I feel there’s much better brands out there that cater better to women of my complexion. The generation that grew up with her basically has gotten older and it’s hard for her to find that target audience again.
Yes it’s trendy right now not to wear a lot of makeup, BUT there are still people out there that love more makeup than usual. I don’t care I beat my face, especially now since we don’t have to wear the masks anymore. I can’t wait til we all go back to makeup, it was honestly great and I miss the old vibes.

(Granted NOT all of it, like I won't be wearing mustache printed leggings and chevron bodycons anytime soon, but the makeup was everything! RiRi Woo, Hermione, and matte lipsticks had me in a chokehold.)

Many valid points were made in regard to why Kylie isn’t necessarily as mainstream or a fan favorite like she was in the 2010’s however I feel like Kylie has a valid reason for not wanting to put her children in the spotlight if you think about it Kylie herself grew up very much so within the public eye because of KUWTK and that must have had some serious mental health ramifications. It’s very possible she wants to shield her own children from that lifestyle so maybe they can know some form of privacy. Also I think a lot of people are starting to realize how exploitive “mommy blogging” is to the children who are almost never compensated for the hours of unpaid labor they produce in the form of content for their parents, often times against their will.
But what I found interesting about it, is that she only does that with baby boy & not Stormi. I feel like it has a lot to do with what OP spoke about in regards to the girls of the family being more popular. I remember Kim once said she heard people say they forgot Saint even exists while everyone knows North. The same way in that we see Chicago more than Psalm.

Yes!!! Simply put, things change. Trends changed. People changed. Kylie herself changed. The 2016 Insta baddie aesthetic Kylie was in is no longer it. I remember even back in 2018 or 2019 of somebody saying the newer trends is going to be a complete reaction against the heavy makeup/baddie aesthetic and go towards something more natural, which arguably will always be timeless. And here we are in 2022, that's the way fashion cycles works.
The first time I ever got anything from Kylie Cosmetics was because a friend bought one of her golden lipglosses but didn't want and gave it to me (which I still have, smells delicious). Years later juuust recently a sales lady at Nordstrom gave me a sample of a Kylie Skin product, which I totally forgot her stuff you can get from there now. I don't know or see anybody on social media hyping her stuff up anymore. I like the cute pink packaging but anything with Kylie's face I'm just like "ehhh idk," given her not-so really good business track record with the swimsuit scandal amongst otherrr... far dire scandals at concerts 👀 It's just hard to dissassociate the brand from Kylie because her name and image IS the brand itself and we're sorta over the Kylie hype. Tbh I'd be more inclined to buy something from Kim's SKKN new skincare line or Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez because even tho we know it's from them, we can see the brands are almost separate entities from their makers and their faces aren't plastered on there as much, and the trends are up to date with fresher, cleaner makeup looks Kylie isn't doing.
Which begs the question, if she really desires to stay up to date and relevant, I'm not sure why she still markets to us this 2016 aesthetic. I think a major overhaul and rebranding of her stuff would help her.
