Boy did a lot change since that trailer happened.
No kidding, there's a ton of things in this trailer that got changed. I kinda wish the soldiers still got launched into oblivion when you use a gambit though.

It's not that dumb if the game doesn't have a weapon triangle, which I don't think it has.
She has a natural hit rate of 71 with the steel axe. Against Mercedes, she ended up with a hit rate of 67. I doubt she'd only land at losing 4 hit if she had a triangle disadvantage.
This is also backed up by neither the combat, nor the menu setting it up containing any weapon triangle indicators.
Also, Mercedes' sword is an iron sword, so it being a lancereaver is not the case.
@@invenblocker they could be using a different variation of the weapon triangle system one that uses weapon rank to determine the advantages and disadvantages like in shadow dragon
Am I crazy, or does she also have the option to use magic?
Changes I've noticed:
1. Names of locations are different
2. Edelgard has a different voice actor
3. In battle UI, the HP is now smaller
4. In battle UI, there are combat arts at the top now
5. In font, the spacing and size of text is smaller
6. In font, text is 3 lines instead of 2
7. Mercedes' hair is less brown
8. Unique enemies, other students look unique on the map now
9. The red squares showing attack range are darker and have an outline
10. I believe the map shown is an early mock battle version
11. Character portraits when talking are now slightly smaller
12. Training specific skills is far different, whereas it's more player chosen
13. Blood on Seiros' sword
14. Enemies don't get knocked back as far from gambits
15. In criticals, it's now a more vertical beam, with the character being larger and the animation is more fluid
The camera height in zoom view also looks higher here, which would have convinced me to play that way. It's just too low and uncomfortable in the current build to be a viable way to play. A real shame considering how much detail they put into it.

Claude is fighting a Golem in the Holy Tomb, which doesn't happen in the final game.

I got this game without seeing a single trailer for it and knowing absolutely nothing about it. It was literally handed to me for free for my birthday by a relative who only knew I had a switch but didn’t know what I liked to play. I’ve never played a single Fire Emblem game and when I tried playing it I fell in love with it. Seeing this trailer now somehow makes me so happy when it’s so different from the actual game

Rewatching this trailer after playing Three Houses, a lot of voice lines of Edelgard contains a lot spoilers regarding her character.
It does but it’s kind of cleverly done. Considering the time between this release and the game, I forgotten most of Edelgard was about in the trailer except she didn’t seem overly fond of crests. You don’t really know the significance of what she’s going on about when you watch this because you don’t know about Rhea or the monastery. At the same time, her conviction is pretty infectious so it made me intrigued with the game early.
I’d call it out of context spoilers. Many trailers have them.

Gameplay seems more of Advanced Wars + SoV more than anything
This is everything a trailer should be. New features mixed with the old, basic story hints but no spoilers, showing the new visuals and all this with an amazing soundtrack that leaves us wanting more. If the game is as good as the trailer, it's gonna be one of the best in the franchise.

Watching this after the game has come out, you can really tell this is a demo version of the game!! So much has improved, Three Houses is wonderful

I don't care for a lot of the gameplay and story decision that push it away from Three Houses, but overall, it did them a lot better than Awakening, which I don't like. (Can't comment on if the other 3ds games did them better since I haven't played them.)

The lyrics in this trailer are actually “Born as time betrays”, but are commonly misheard as lines such as what you heard.
I would say is the same song, only that here is one part of the song and the other could be only the beginning of the song
I love how they showed that you ACTUALLY fight with an army at your side in this game! It’s always been called a war in these games, but you rarely saw the normal troops: now they’re right beside our main characters!

Honestly one thing which kinda sucks are the cutscenes, the first trailer for fire emblem played just after this vid for me and fate's cutscenes are sooo much prettier
WOW, The game changed so much in one year. NGL, it looked way too mobile gam-ey from a graphical standpoint, but even from a presentation standpoint. The gambit soldiers flying instead of falling/fleeing after defeat had me rolling.
I prefer the clean aesthetic over the dirty garbage we ended up with. I love this game but the graphics are downright horrid

It doesn't sound like they will. Lost in Thoughts was literally tied into the plot which was a bad choice. A Distant Promise was what I consider the main theme of SoV since they reintegrated it into other songs and it was only used in the opening cutscene, its standard track, and godlike reprise in the Final Map.

Could someone explain to me how the timeline works for Fire Emblem games? Do they have some kind of continuity or are they like Final Fantasy games all on their own? Does this Fire Emblem: Three Houses have a predecessor? I never played a Fire Emblem game.
@@ThaMobstarr Some games are connected, like the GameCube Tellius games (Path of Radience and Radiant Dawn) and the Marth games, but most are stand alone. Also this game doesn't have a predecessor. Really one of the only constant things in all of the series is the red-haired merchant named Anna.
EDIT Also for the Marth games as in the ones in Marth's time line the ones I can think of is Shadow Dragon, Gaiden, Heroes of Light and Shadow, and Awakening. Some characters from Awakening actually go to Fates with fake names so that could count in the Marth series. Also I belive there was one where it combined Shadow Dragon with a new story but then after that they made Heroes of Light and Shadow, which was the new story as its own game with an avatar system. On an unrelated note if I get to play Heroes of Light and shadow I would make a resistance focused fighter, as they usually don't have any resistance (it's basically magic defense).
Looking back on this trailer after seeing the Opening Cinematic makes me feel like I was bamboozled and tricked lol

I’m dying for them to take this Three Houses concept and do what they did with Radiant Dawn where they pit one of your past teams against you in such a way that makes you feel conflicted and remorseful that you made them so overpowered... realizing suddenly that you have to defend a castle from Ike and the ludicrously powerful Greil Mercenaries with your ragtag Dawn Brigade you didn’t even build correctly was the most amazing and gut-churning moment in Fire Emblem history for me.
Zant that game is by far the best in the series... no other game has come close for me... and with the finale bringing everyone together was so amazing

Man, the logo reveal is my favorite part of this trailer. The simple white text, centered on the right, with a gray castle wall in the background. The way it flares into existence like it's reflecting light. The music timed with it sounds like shattering glass (I mean that as a compliment, haha). The logo reveal in this trailer is genuinely my favorite part of my experience with this game.
I love how everything looks kind of... I don't know how to say it--gray and silvery? Especially in the trailer. I love the aesthetic. I enjoyed the game, but this trailer made me fall in love with what feels like a game we never got.
What we know about the plot right now:
- The Church of Seiros holds a large amount of power over Fódlan.
- “The Crests,” whatever they may be, are tokens of the Goddess’ power. While some believe they are what keeps order in Fódlan, Edelgard believes the Crests are the cause of whatever is going wrong.
- The battle footage we have shows our heroes battling generic soldiers known simply as Kingdom Soldiers.
- Aside from Byleth, who may be an Avatar character similar to Robin and Corrin, there are three main protagonists: Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude.
Possible stories for the game:
- It could just be an old-fashioned Fire Emblem story, just involving one kingdom becoming power-hungry and corrupt, while one other kingdom’s prince begins to gather an army to put a stop to their trouble.
- Maybe the Church of Seiros grows corrupt under a particular religious leader, and our heroes have to band together to stop the Church.
- Maybe an evil cult begins to gain enough support and power that it becomes a threat to the Church, and our heroes have to fight for the Church against this cult.
Possible details that could tie into these storylines:
- These “Crests” may have a Lehran’s Medallion-esque (I have not played Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn, but I have read about what this incarnation of the Fire Emblem does to people) effect on people, which may have resulted in some of the characters serving as antagonists to become evil. This would definitely support Edelgard’s explanation for the Crests causing the loss of order.
- The fact that three main protagonists (Excluding Byleth, who is likely to be a fourth) are present could mean a lot of things. Maybe they are all friends that team up to stop whoever is antagonizing Fódlan, similar to how Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn are. Maybe they met during all of these occurrences and teamed up due to their shared goals.
- If the cult scenario were true, maybe they could not be worshippers of an evil god, like the Grimleal worshipped Grima, or a corrupted god, like the Duma Faithful worshipped Duma, but radicalized fanatics that separated from the Church of their own free will, or may have been excommunicated by the head of the Church for certain practices. That may be a possibility.
What do you speculate the plot will revolve around?

I’ve seen some people say that the young manakete at the end and the Dragon/priest lady could be the same person and some sort of time skip happens. Edelgard did say that she would return one day, implying that she was leaving, which could indicate some sort of time skip.

The person lying on the throne looks much younger than the yellow-haired priestess we have been seeing throughout the trailer. Also, what makes you say the person at the end is a Manakete? I looked at the image again, and I did not see any Manakete-esque features on her. Is it her age?
Also, what do you think would be the most likely storyline among the ones I have suggested?

The young girl on the throne reminds me of a manakete because
1. She is sleeping, which is a trait similar to Tiki. She could be a dragon who was put to sleep to for similar reasons that Tiki was when she was young.
2. She is just so young, that I’m thinking she is likely a manakete. Plus she reminds me of Nowi, so there’s that.
As for her and the Dragon/Priestess lady being the same person, I was saying that some sort of time skip could have happened. Though now that I think about it, dragons age much slower, so the time skip would be so long that our heroes wouldn’t be around anymore. Perhaps we will get cutscenes that show the past as well that could make this theory valid, but that’s bit of a stretch.
I’m thinking that the second storyline is the most likely, where the heroes must take down the Church. The trailer and description seem to be painting the Church of Seiros as the bad guys. That would be interesting, because the churches are generally painted as good guys or a good force.
Now that I took a second look at the final image, the girl at the end does appear to have pointed ears, a defining trait of a Manakete. Thus, you may be right about that. However, I do not know if she is the yellow-haired priestess as a child. The Possibly-a-Manakete girl in that closing scene seems to have pink hair. Maybe it is a different color, but it looks pink. Also, we do not see the woman’s ears, so we do not know if she is a Manakete.
Also, I got the idea for the antagonists being the Church from the description alone, not the trailer itself. The trailer talks about “The Crests”, whatever they are, being to blame for whatever is going wrong, despite claims that they keep order. The trailer itself does not appear to give any ideas about corruption in the Church. Maybe you noticed something different than I did that led to you finding evidence of such in the trailer and not just in its description. If so... what do you see?

Honestly I just want Fire Emblem Radiance Of Dawn(for Wii). Though sold out and hard to find, and they haven't placed it on the nintendo store, it's irritating

I think it's a long ways away before we get a Fire Emblem 4-5 remake and if they do they will heavily censor some of the major plot points in all likelihood because people who don't understand will go "ew, incest" when they look at Celice and Julia and the whole Arvis Deidre controversy of brainwashing and rapey contexts.
Some games are ruined by trying to remake or upgrade to new systems, I will just be happy with my memories and emulators of my favourite games. Besides this might be a new masterpiece, we won’t know till we get our hands on it and give it a go

Since her hit rate goes from 71% in the weapon selection to 67% in the battle forecast I can almost guarantee that there's no weapon triangle advantage.
I think their doing what they did in Fates and Awakening. As your rank increases, so does the weapon triangle's advantages and disadvantages.
Or chance to hit is actually lower with low weapon skill as opposed to the weapons dictating aim modified by skill. It might be Edelgard has higher weapon rank in axe so that even with weapon disadvantage her hit rate is very close meaning the axe doing more damage might be a better choice in that scenario.
arcturus64 I’m not sure what your talking about with the 71% to 67% (time stamp maybe?). The weapon triangle looks intact to me, though.
Examples:
Axe (67%) vs. Sword (96%) at 0:42
Lance (100%) vs. Sword (59%) at 0:45
arcturus64 71 is the axe's base hit rate, 67 is the hit rate with the weapon dissadvantage.

Fates somehow OST outdid Awakening. Shadows of Valentia somehow outdid Fates. I can't believe I'm saying this, but if the rest is as good as this trailer, they may have accomplished the impossible and outdid themselves yet again.

Seeing as Awakening, Fates, and Echoes set a very high bar in regards to final map themes, and just the overall soundtrack, I'm expecting great music from this one.

Yeah, when they remade Gaiden, they for some reason didn't get the bright idea of fixing the maps.
echoe’s maps and enemies (cantors!!) made the game really tedious/boring.
Echoes was a blast with the exploration and mechanics. Mechanically, it is MUCH better than fates and awakening... and just about everything else is better as well (except the map design)
Uhh you drunk right? No it was not much better, story wise I will give it to you, gameplay? Echos was literally fight five of the same mage in a row and that was one map.... Even final fantasy has better randomly generated battles

Came back to listen to this and almost frickin cried. Can't believe how far we've come.
I find myself coming to rewatch this trailer often now that I've played Three Houses for quite a while now.
All I want to say is that I'm very happy with how it all resulted in the end. Alike all other additions to a series, there could have been certain things that were implemented better--but they were little things that don't greatly affect my perspective of the game.
Fire Emblem was beginning to lose my faith after the 'addition' that was Fates, but Echoes and Three Houses restored that.
As a veteran, I hope this comment doesn't age poorly. :')

You know after playing through this game I just noticed something. Ashe was a Golden Deer in the Alpha, and Hilda’s had shorter twin tails. And the one thing I missed is how gambits just flings people towards the sky
