Ok, this has been haunting me for many MANY months: When Biffa built the long long road bridge, he "temporarily" disconnected the barge harbour and then forgot to reconnect the bridge that goes over the motorway and rails from the industry area to the barge harbour ( see 6:25 in this video ). It is now a dead end, only a tiny bit of road away from the other dead end it should be connected to. Please please fix it!
The only complaint I have with your channel is that I just canât get enough! I like the city building, but I love the traffic solving videos. Keep up the great work!

I had the same problem. I solved it though by going through Biffa's playlists. Currently halfway through TeaPort.
Manager does have a "Copy/Paste".. Sort of. Down at the VERY bottom You'll see "District" "Park" "Map"
Clicking those applies the setting to the same building in the zone you choose. So Park means all small warehouses in the park.
The cargo train station could be a cargo harbour with train. Ist already on the coast. So it would make sense to take advantage of its location!!! Great to see this series again!!!
Always a pleasure to watch Biffa content but New Tealand holds a special place in my heart!

Back To NT! Always good to see. I watched it from the beginning. It is such an iconic build and inspired me with many new ideas. I like the concept of returning once in a while to revisit it. I was thinking it would be fun to do a revisit when new DLCs come out. On the fly-over, I was thinking how much fun it would be to turn the initial starting area into a P&P pedestrian area! It would be a logical idea for the "old town" to repurpose into a low-key pedestrian seaside tourist area.

At the end there, you were surprised that cars were turning right on a red light, that's because you have it turned on globally and didn't change it in junction restrictions for that timed traffic light. Timed lights will not work as intended if you have cars getting in each other's way, everyone MUST have a dedicated lane to go into (might want to use lane connectors to eliminate any conflicts here). Btw, adding an extra lane to wait in at busier timed lights will (probably) let more cars through when they can go. Another thing to consider at the busiest timed lights is to add an always green right turning lane (or straight on for 3-way junctions) with a dedicated lane to go into, so only the cars who need to cross traffic have to wait. You can let them pick their lane after the junction, as they'll be spread out enough (until they're not, but then you need to add access points elsewhere or just get cars off the roads) not to clog up the junction. You'll need to provide pedestrian crossing some other way, but you don't really want them crossing at the busy junctions anyway.
Another thing I've noticed is you never do anything to the flow sensitivity, which is really useful for getting spurts of traffic (like around cargo terminals and harbors) through a junction, since lowering sensitivity will let more of a stop-start flow through while having a very short "mandatory" green period will let the main road keep going when there's no need for the longer reds. It even works to reliably clear those spots where you occasionally get a ton of people jumping into their pocket cars.
As long as they're set up exactly correctly, timed traffic lights will handle a ton more traffic than any roundabout, even at ends of highways and any main junctions. I love the look of a nicely decorated and slip laned roundabout, but at the end I almost always end up changing them into multi-lane timed traffic lights for performance.
Oh, and a lot of the time when you're wondering why cars are stopping at a node it's most likely because you pushed node controller too far on a too short segment, you absolutely need to leave at least a truck length segment "open" to let cars through without stopping.
I do love the transfer manager mod, totally game changer on my city industry.
I really like the per district / industry settings that prevent importing / exporting for some buildings. I feel like tons of trucks just get wasted exporting / importing goods when there may just be a backup somewhere in the flow of goods within the district. I like to have all the good produced go towards largely internal use and only really export the super high end stuff. Just cuts down on traffic and makes those high end buildings more efficient.
Good stuff as always.
Oh and pro-tip, at the bottom of the mod's Settings / Outgoing Materials tab there is an "Apply to buildings of type: X" that can apply on a few different scopes. Really clutch for configuring many buildings in a large district. (edit: aka 37:00 copy and paste feature đ - not quite as precise as a copy paste but it still helps.)

You should have put the warehouses after the cargo train. The trucks are doing a full loop to take cargo off the trains and put them in the warehouse. Then they have to do another full loop around to take the stuff out of the warehouse and deliver it.
No matter what restrictions I had I could not force all the goods in an industrial part to process their goods before shipping them out. You get far more money from Petrol than you do from oil. The ONLY way I think you could force this is if you had a warehouse that entered from one side and exited from another side. That way the good were forced to go to the warehouse. I tried everything. The best I could get was maybe 1/3 to 1/2 being processed.
Industrial parks, oil, farming, etc... Do not actually require traffic for the workers at all. You will only see trucks. I do not give them ANY connections other than a cargo train or cargo boat.
I love seeing New Tealand. SAVE THE ROCK ! Its kind of ironic the number of times Biffa gets to redo that industrial area around with the one way roads and round about roads. You've fixed it at least six+ times now

Reall loving seeing NT back my favourite series and now with additional dlc should be interesting. Quite a timely video for me as been considering using this sort of mod to balance my traffic woes but been trying not to use mods that change the game mechanics per say. I have a feeling for your coal storage you are producing more than you have storage for (as balanced shouldnât be full it should be roughly half full) so itâs getting overwhelmed basically had similar issues with that dynamic in my city.
6:51 "If you do see any" well, it's not trees on a road, but trees in that Geothermal Powerplant to the right.
11:45 close, I believe Vehicle AI allows vehicles to respond to another request without first returning to their building. So, for example, if an entire block is on fire, a fire truck will move building by building putting out the fire instead of a single building and then driving away.
20:30 The buttons on the bottom allow you apply the settings to all of the buildings of that type in the district (or the entire city)

@14:15 -- Biffa, the warehouse you say they're not using is set to "Empty", so I think it is working as intended (unless I don't understand how warehouses work, which is entirely possible!).

The cargo train station thingy around 25:00 only connects in one direction to your rail line. A connection in the opposite direction would make the station more useful & take even more trucks away methinks.

I installed this mod last night, and just turned on the AI Vehicles alone, and holy heck was it amazing. Traffic improved, almost all notification icons just disappeared and pop up a lot less frequent, my city was making more money, ext. 30k+ population running at over 80% efficiency traffic
I had originally though "oh as the city gets busier I am just going to get worst traffic".
Now to now learn the other features, specifically around industry.
Okay, So some quite major life stuff has been happening in my life from about September last year, I've been super busy and unfortunately your content had to be put to one side :(.
However I have put pretty much all of it in my "watch later" list and I've been slowly catching up. I'm so glad to see the return of New Tealand, I had almost forgotten it was even lost for awhile, but now I am ALL IN!!! Keep it coming Biffa. :)

27:40 Yes it is :) meaning that the area you worked on with the cargo was meant to supply the spacebase just to the right but it seem that most are going elsewhere !
30:15 The 1-lane off ramp has an asymmetrical and doesn't need it, meaning the 4-lane is also too much (or make it a-symmetric .. lane mathematics).

In case you haven't found it yet, there is an option to apply your changes made with the transfer mod to the same type of building either in the same district or the whole map. It located in the settings tab on the bottom of the window when you click on warehouses, producers like fisherman etc.
Might save you some minutes and even hours seeing how many warehouses you tend to use in your cities :)

I do have a suggestion on those timed traffic lights by the factories - those going straight on in the right hand lane could always be green if you use hugo there.
There should be funiculars for cargo! The Inclines in Pittsburgh(a type of funicular, and still in operation) were originally built to bring coal up to the top of Mt. Washington.
at time index of 21:03 you can see your trains coming/going from that train station. when they cross the switch on/off the main line, they go really slowly. that's because the node at the switch has turned "red". use node controller to fix that issue; it's a huge pain when trains seem to inexplicably slow like that, and can cause large congestion over time.
I bet we could raise enough money during one livestream of New Tealand to get Biffa an RTX4090âŚ
City looks amazing! But as someone living in Switzerland - basically everything has a service road, most funiculars are just "accelerators", and most locations are also available by a road, at least in the summer. So maybe a secret road helix in the mountain is not as much of an issue RP-wise?

the industrial area at 52:00 - you should consider making the main drag an asymmetrical 2+1 so when that busy slip lane exits towards the roundabout they get a dedicated lane
25:00 and later: you're setting up the industry area for import within the district, then you are forcing all trucks coming from your cargo train station to go around over your new roundabout to get back into the same district :)
Great to see New Tealand back! That fishing area needs some love though, when you checked it out near the end of the video, it looks so.. empty, and plain! Needs some detailing love, or at least a forest brush XD
24:35 no need for right turns when there is already slip roads like one going from top to left, 29:39 they are turning around there
btw, 9 times out of 10. the framerate in CS is limited by the CPU and the single thread speed not the GPU. Although a i13900k and a 4090 might not be a bad idea in 2023 for professional content creation.

great video! i think i liked the old visual settings better bc i remember new tealand as this lush island, like a warm place with palm trees, almost tropical, and that made it dreamy to me, and now it looks more realistic maybe but it loses its vacation feel touch.
Isn't the fundamental issue with the industrial area at 15:00 that it is a cul-de-sac with one road in and out. Plus that's made worse by that main road also having the cargo station on it.
Just adding more connections to other areas would help rather than all the fiddly micromanagement...

next, whenever i change my warehouses to/from empty/balanced/filled, the game always reverts to balanced. i can switch it, click out, and go back in n it has reset to balanced. drive me bonkers!! for example, you set your coal warehouse (seen at time index of 43:20) to balanced...and then later (at time index 44:51), you click the building again and it's reverted/changed to "empty"; you didn't change it to empy, the game did. what in tarnation is that about??

The reason the cars are slowing down at the toll booths is that the speed limit for them is slower than the freeway. You can change that to get a better flow rate.

Have you ever thought about doing a live play portion like two dollars twenty does? It really enhances his streams because we get to see the city in more detail, not just jumping between improvements. New Tealand is gorgeous it would be nice to see it more.

I picked up Skyline on the Xbox Gamepass (I don't own a PC) for my XBox One X (not Series X). Is there any traffic management mod for the Xbox? Every search I checked out was from 2019.

In the Myrtle Business Park, I reckon they could use a 1-way road immediately after the warehouses coming back to the 4-lane. That way they don't have to go all the way to the roundabout to get back to the industry.
I need to go through your latest mod list. The Financial District release absolutely broke everything. I ended up literally wiping out all of my mods and starting from scratch rebuilding and finding the replacements. Took days.
This city is beautiful with the big peaks kind of breaking it up and then the barrier islands. Really beautiful.
I will say the Compatibility Mod saves me on this. I took a break for some time, and came back. Ran the tool and quickly found I had issues with a few mods, and the tool was like "oh yeah use this to fix that"
you should make the main road in myrtle business park no left turns so that trucks are forced to use the little roundabout to access the cargo station's new location. it'll help flow

As soon as he showed that farming district, I knew which mod it was. Let's hope Transfer Manager is as good if not better.
Biffa, there's a button at the bottom of the Transfer Manager that allows you to apply your settings to all buildings of the same type in the district (It just says "District"). That should help with your copy and paste woes.đ

I honestly quit your channel because of the way New Tealand disappeared and to reclaim some time. But today, when making my saturday morning coffee, I go I hope Biffa is alright - I'll go check his channel.

14:20 You have some space above to displace the cargo station and add a one way road between the two junctions already available on the main road. That willl solve the unusability of the station.

at 36:39 you can name Barges and other stuff so you have names for stuff. like cargo ship going to X from Y. make sorting things easy.
