  • In this episode, we day hike segment 2 of the Colorado Trail! This is a beautiful segment of the trail, starting at the South Platte River. We hiked about 4 miles out and back, stopping many times to look at all the cool things we found. Old trucks, old signs, cacti, sweeping views, this day hike had it all.
FUN FACT: The Colorado Trail covers 485 beautiful miles from Denver to Durango. It is open to hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. We hope to hike the entire length one day!

If you head to far southern Colorado around Pagosa Springs area, we can give you some ideas. Are you guys going to get bikes some day?

We've kicked around the bike idea a few times, and are definitely thinking about it! Would just have to figure out the best way for us to attach them to the van. The more we think about having bikes, the more we want them. Would love to hear your recommendations for that area of Colorado :)

Working For The Van Working For The Van OK, take the Piedra Road which heads north out of Pagosa Springs. Go 20 miles into the back country on that road which turns into a gravel/dirt but is super easy to drive on. Williams Creek Reservoir is in that area. Past Sportsmans Campground on the forest service roads are beautiful free boondocking sites. Some next to streams and rivers. There are some primitive campgrounds too. Some of the most beautiful scenery and hiking in Colorado. It is high altitude, though. Easy run back into Pagosa Springs for groceries, laundry and internet. Here is a video I made many years ago for my co-pilots because they were curious what I typically did for my week off every other week. It has my famous saying, “Climb those mountains while you still can. Don’t wait”, that I mentioned in your other video discussion. vimeo.com/51178693 I hope you do make it down there because the scenery is so beautiful overwhelming that it literally hurts your eyes it is so much to take in.
