You illustrated my concerns with 6.0 very well. My daughter is moving out of Excel High Beginner, and can't wait to have more IJS competitions. Our experience has been that she receives higher scores and higher placement in IJS than 6.0. Skating on 6.0 was demoralizing last year.

Keep in my that beginning in January there will not be Excel Beginner or high beginner anymore! But yes, it can be demoralizing!
Thanks for this video. It explains it very well. And i do think it is time to get rid of 6.0 system. It is so demotivating, all over the place and gives no guidance to skaters. Sometimes when IJS judges stay to judge 6.0 and there are 5 of then - the scores are more consistent but it really blows my mind how all over the place these scores are. Maybe we need a petition or something for us figure skating to listen to us

If they did away with 6.0 we would run into issues with Compete USA competitions for beginning skaters. The registration would become costly for skaters and it could be very challenging to get enough officials to serve on panels. But I agree that something ought to be done to bring more consistency to scoring those lower levels.
