I got the new metabo hpt/hikoki 18 gauge brad nailer about a month ago I live in the states. It’s much smaller then the one in this video and is much more comparable to the m18. Feels good in the hand and has good power and maneuverability
Get them both. No regrets.
Advice for for buyers:
The compact 2ah battery pairs well with these.
I have both brad nailer and stapler. I was stapling all day for weeks. 5ah battery last a whole day. A lot of stapling.
For general use i use 2ah.
I put many boxes of staples through it and it hasn't missed a beat. Its one of the battery tools ever made.
I was having problems with the brad nailer. Turns out it was garbage brads.
Runs perfect now. Change brads if you gt this problem.
Which one is more versatile? Crown staples or brad nailer?
To get full capabilities of the tools I use the high output 3.0ah

I have the brad nailer. Watched the video to see the size of the stapler in comparison.
I find it interesting that you think they are for similar things. I am not disagreeing. But in my work flow I have never considered putting a staple in a finished surface. I use the crown stapler to build toe kicks and frame kitchen islands and such things.

My nailer came in a box. Stuck it in my makita stackable case lined with foam. Its worth protecting. I love that nailer btw!! Hint hint Makita
I’m sure people love these tools but to me look big and clumsy. I’ll stick with my small air driven models. I seldom use these outside my wood shop.
I have come to love both brad nailers and narrow crown staples. I even have 3 brad nailers. 16ga, 18ga, and 21ga. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ I consider these tools
as “must have” woodworking tools. For finish trim work the 21 ga is “the bomb”.

21 gauge is pretty awesome. I can pretty much only source it from Cadex. I avoided buying a cordless 18 ga for a while because of the size, but just nabbed the new smaller HiKoki/HPT and it’s quite tolerable. The Milwaukee 23 ga pinner is close to some larger pneumatics I’ve seen. 16 gauge is about the size of paslode (obviously bigger than pneumatic).
If you have a big compressor in a shop (and of course industrial factory settings), cordless is not for you. I converted because I was tired of carrying over an underpowered but still bulky and heavy compressor, finding an outlet, firing it up, waiting for it to fill…all to fire off three or four nails or brads. Punch list and repairs is where they shine.
@@robertrada6040 Even a small compressor works great for a nail gun, brad nailer, or stapler. Even a 1 or 2 gallon tank compressor works great.

I’ve toyed with getting a 21g, but they’re expensive and hard to get nails for. Which brand do you have?
I have both pneumatic and battery powered for most nailers, and use both. The pneumatic are still better, lighter, more reliable, and faster. If I only have a small job to do though, or I have to do something away from the compressor, it’s easier to just grab the cordless. Larger jobs I tend to grab the pneumatics.
I got these,sold the framing nailer because it's really heavy especially working over head, waiting for DeWalt to come out with ramp-less nailers and 23 guage pin nailer it's time they up their game in this line up

Afternoon from Auckland ...just brought the Crown Stapler today, and wish I knew that I could use it as Brad Nailer as well ...have brought the Brad Nailer about a year ago !!!
It's not great to use as a bradder. The stand alone brad nailers are much better, that's why Milwaukee don't advertise the fact.

If the stapler was capable of fixing 50mm staples i'd buy one right now but annoyingly it doesnt and neither do its competitors thats ive checked out so far anyway . To be able to get rid of the air powered one i use would be a good send

You can buy both in a plastic case as a kit with batteries and a charger and you can buy both as a bare tool without cases in a cardboard box.

I use a brad nailer everyday and for 2 years now I’ve been using the ryobi one+, I have the makita 18v but find myself still pulling out the ryobi for thicker materials, better see it in the next brad-nailer review🔫

@Tools & Stuff. Thanks for another great review between these Milwaukee 18ga narrow crown stapler and brad nailer. Learned alot about both. I have the M18 brad nailer and the M12 crown stapler. I may have to take another look at adding that narrow crown stapler.
BTW. How did you get a stapler with bump fire? Scott Brown Carpentry reviewed some cordless nailers not that long ago and I thought he said that NZ doesn't allow that feature on imports.

How do the Staples compare to 16 ga finish nailer for holding strength and size of hole to be filled? I think the finish nailer would be the real direct competitor, not the Brad nailer which doesn't hold for shit.
The stapler is more for attaching thin or flimsy materials that the brads/pins/nails will blow right through. That said, the staples will probably hold better than a 16 gauge (which should have a thinner mark). 15 gauge would probably out do the staple.
I have the Milwaukee narrow crown stapler and it also shoots brads.

You can put brad nails in the stapler whereas you can’t put staples in the brad nailer so the brad nailer is a waste of money

You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to call it a "crown stapler". 😁
Imperial system is definitely old, but hardly antiquated. Meter is easy to understand but sizing is too small when it comes to distance and too large when it comes to volume temperature. Furthermore, every few years metric measurements are renamed for no good reason. Remember "CC's" now it's "milliliters", or "Watts" to "Joule" and there are others. Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

Meters for big distances.
Millimeters for building things
We dont use centimeters really.
I dont think a Millimeter is too small. In example when you have to pack something. You need no decimal or fractions of a mil packers
Even over a large distance we would use millimeters. In example we would say some timber is 5080 instead of 5.080 meters.
imperial would be a real challenge for me. Just what we are used to i guess.

@@knifejames8163 CC is cubic centimeter, which is a really common measurement for small engine displacement, such as motorcycles, gas powered OPE, and ATV/UTVs. Large engines are usually listen in liters, or for some cars (usually US models, either older ones or as an artificial differentiator between engines of same displacement but different tuning) cubic inches.
Metric and SAE/imperial are both about the same age. The current standardized version of SAE is probably younger than Metric.
Milwaukee just milking people. Change rails and switch between staples, nails and sizes on both. This is lame.
In the states HF has a pneumatic that shoots both in 1 gun for 20 bucks
