      @@MrDahlia. These have actually really grown on me and I wear them all the time. They're much more comfortable than they were when I first got them.

    Can't believe these are going for $160. I got my Bostons in 2016 for $69 at like, Cabelas or something. They could hardly give these things away and everyone was a hater. I had a hippie uncle who always waxed poetic about the lifelong value of his birkenstocks, bragging about the patina on the leather he had earned since the 90's, how many times he's had them resoled, etc. I had just turned 18, my feet were done growing, so I decided to cop a pair in the habana colorway and see what he was talking about.
    7 years later and I, too, bore people to tears as I rant about how comfy and well-worn my bostons have become. They're in the cobbler's right now getting a cleanup and new sole added. I'm happy these have become fashionable. All the people who hated on my clogs back in 2016-2021 can eat their words!

    I've had a pair of Birkenstock sandals for years, and they still hurt my arch when I use them for longer periods of time. I only use them when it's really hot, and they've become much better over time. Really the only have problems come when I walk tens of thousands of steps in a day with them.

    • @StrayReviews

      Glad to know they get better over time. I've heard people say that they like them more the longer they've had them.

    I’ve been wearing Birkenstocks since my Ortho recommended after an ACL surgery. My first thought , No way would I leave the house in these Fugly shoes !! Well, fast forward to current I own over 50 pair ( lucky enough to have one of the few Birkenstock only stores here in Palm Beach )
    I own many a Arizona , Bostons, Florida , Madrid & more .
    Also a few of the high priced limited editions .
    I can truly say, it’s what I wear 99% of the time . Taupe is the top seller & near impossible to find without a huge markup -
    No going back at this point .

    Just bought a pair of the Boston clog Habana, same size as my Arizona’s. Wearing them now with a lightweight pair of smartwool socks and they fit like a dream. I do have moderately high instep though and they fit perfectly.
    Enjoy!!

    I purchased my first pair (Gizeh) in 2017 and have loved them since. I purchased my 2nd, 3rd and 4th just this year (2023). The first pair are still in great condition btw.
    Over the years I've developed Plantar Fasciitis with a side of pronation on my left foot. The ONLY shoe that is comfortable to me are Birks.
    I'm now considering the Bostons as my fall and winter shoe.

    I have two pairs of Birkenstock Arizona. The original and the soft footbed. The original took maybe 2-3 weeks to get broken in. And my feet were a little sour sometimes. No break in time with the soft footbed. But after the break in, I actually prefer the original version. I use my Birkenstock's just like you do. They are pretty sturdy, so I guess they will hold up many years to come. But they are also a bit pricy!

    • @StrayReviews
      @StrayReviews  Před rokem +1

      Pricey indeed for what they are. I'll have to take a look at the originals one of these days.

    I was a seasonal part time at a retail store that also sold Birkenstock which was my first introduction to them. I got them on a suede Arizona at a good discount. Had them since last late winter and they broke in well. I'm not a huge Birk fan but I can see why they are liked, resoleable if you can find the right cobbler. I added wax to the suede to make it more water-resistant and I learnd the hard way that these are not ideal in wet conditions so I got crocs because of that. The sole I find doesn't have good traction so when these worn out I might put on Vibram soles. Yeah for a shoe mostly made out of natural materials, can be resoled, can deal with the break in I say it's worth it especially at a mark-down price. Just stay to the traditional cork ones.

      One of these days I’ll have to try the original cork soles.

    I would include the $158 price tag in the ' cons'. Yes, they do take some time to get used to , especially if you have low or no arch ( I have a high arch, not as much if an issue). The soft footbed is easier to adapt to than the original footbed, out of the box, but doesn't break in as well ( or so Im told) . Im on the fence in regards to this Boston model, as I only own black shoes but have heard that the black suede fades onto your skin or clothing when the shoes are new.

    • @StrayReviews

      I agree. The $158 price tag is a tough one to accept. 💵

    I love to wear my Birkenstock clogs while riding my Peloton bike, with a mug of Huel in one hand, and trading crypto-currency with one of my 6 Apple devices in the other hand

    I recently bought the Arizonas. I like them so much that I'm considering getting a Boston pair to wear them all year.
    During fall season do you find them warm enough to use them even with socks?
    Style wise none if them look appealing but that's not the point on Birkenstock. Those who wear them like me couldn't less about that.
    Do you recommend these Boston ? The only deal breaker is the price and now they are more than worth still....

    • @StrayReviews
      @StrayReviews  Před rokem

      Definitely not a style choice! 😀 I would wear the Bostons in the fall for a while. It gets pretty cold here toward the end of November though, so that might be where I limit them to the house.

    Hi great video very informative, I have a pair of Arizona sandals which I bout out 2 months ago. I wore them as much as I could of a few weeks anything from a few minutes to a couple of hours around the house and went on holiday to Italy where the heat was crazy hot. The Arizonas were great very comfortable in the heat and I could wear them all day with no discomfort or blisters from lots of walking in Rome. I’m looking to get a pair of Bostons but a bit unsure if I’d wear them with socks and if I’d have to go up a size from my Arizonas. Any thoughts???

    • @StrayReviews
      @StrayReviews  Před rokem +2

      A trip to Italy sounds amazing! I’m not positive about the sizing but my guess would be that your Arizona size would also be your Boston size. Also, I’ve worn my Bostons with and without socks and have been happy with both.
