Unfortunately I fear that many of us here in America won't understand the importance of this until it's far too late. That's probably how other authoritarians came to power in the past

That is exactly what I’ve been discussing with friends and family. 🤦🏿♀️ They think that we are “good” checks and balances will save us. People think this is cute and “will pass”…..not so fast. Our freedom is NOT guaranteed. Our constitution is only as strong as our pinky promise to uphold it. If WE all no longer agree to abide by the constitution…bye bye law of the land. Hello chaos and disruption. Do people not care about the next generation?

It's more than that, there is real treason afoot. Nothing short of the literal legal sense of the word.

Broadcast media has become so beholden to view numbers that its largely castrated by the threat of accusations of bias, or it has simply yielded to the fascists and goes along with them. But I despair of the NYT and WaPo. Someone once wrote that if the GoP majority presented a bill declaring that the world is flat, the NYT would still mince around it with the headline: "Democrats and Republicans unable to agree on shape of the Earth" "Former astronaut weighs in and states that Earth looks like a flat disc when viewed from orbit."

We still have not addressed the 14.3 amendment. Being on the ballot is not a violation, but Trump is still not allowed to take and hold office. Any office. This should be a talking point and addressed by SCOTUS now! We also have members of Congress that are still in office illegally.

The American dream is waking up
It's sad but we were never really a democracy as each branch is undermined by undemocratic strategies. See the electoral college, gerrymandering in the house and uneven representation in the Senate. The idea that we are a democracy, which is what I grew up believing, is merely a dream. We still fit the criteria that has to be met to be a democracy so I have no idea what you are talking about. A democracy is a democratic republic. Uneven representation in the senate? It’s always that way since they are voted in. More democratic votes mean more democratic policies and more republican more republican policies. It was never intended to be even. A democratic republic is listed as a democracy. The house doesn’t decide how states divide their states, the states are gerrymandering not the house in congress had no power over the states. Government cannot tell the states what to do that’s why states bring the lawsuits against their states. If a state violated the constitution the president sues the state.
