"Eat the rich!" While showing off a quarter million dollar wedding and thousands of dollars worth of shoes. They've become the rich. Get eaten.
I could buy a house for that in my country 😂
@@karolinawww6834For a moment there I thought I commented that...😂😂
Facts 💯
Literally always happens idk why you’re surprised
If you can drop 250k on your wedding then youre not struggling, lads
Someone commented on their apology video stating
“Looks like Shane finally saw a ghost- the ghost of his career.”
I’ve paraphrased, but you get the gist.
This feels to me like a "sorry you feel that way".
They for sure don't need 25 employees.
That's the problem with hiring friends and family.
Atozy did a breakdown of costs and yeah, they're overextending.
The quality is not really different from when they did unsolved, the editing is just a bit different is all. It’s basically the same thing, I honestly don’t even get the appeal to watch them at all lol
10 minutes of googleing people who did the same thing and found out how well it worked for them would have saved them a lot of heartache.
25 employees and not one of them worth the payroll because not a single one could calculate how crap a move that was
@@Onyx-_-liquorI think most of these guys see stuff like nebula or float plane and want their own versions, and to most it’s probably worth risking pissing people off it it works
They have lost a follower but you have gained one. The circle of life
I got curious and ended up looking their channel up...
... They uh, They really over value themselves. I mean they said they were making nexflix level content and it's just really not hahahaha
Im a fan of their true crime stuff, and Puppet History, but lmfao no its not Netflix quality
They got you to check out their channel
Though didn't they 😂 they couldn't have paid to have their name spread like this scandal did them.
@@brookchristy8311aha is that a conspiracy theory I smell?
They really do…I remember TRYING to watch one of those paranormal (spirits something?) the one where they’re around a campfire drinking . I couldn’t watch it entirely, it BORED ME. 😅

... besides it's just a theory ... an internet theory 🙃😂
Was watching August the Duck's video on these guys. Shane apparently put down $55k on just the venue for a wedding..... You can STFU about "not making enough money" if you are casually tossing that kind of money on a wedding let alone just the venue.
No judgement on anyone spending that money on a wedding. I personally wouldn't even if I could. Just don't you dare tell me you're not making enough when you're dropping a down payment for house on a freaking wedding venue.
They have hit the level of "fame and popularity" where they're out of touch... with how talented/important they actually are and what everyday people go through. Are they renting a Kardashian hall or something??
The gross excess and wealth waste on social media makes me sick.
And these man children have learned the hard way that a lot of people are getting very bored with you tubers etc begging for money to fund lavish and wasteful lifestyles
Yea that sounds like a normal wedding nowadays in a high cost area, people always waste tons on that useless thing. Guessing yall havent actually gotten married or been to any weddings in those places.
@@serv-on I'm married and I've been to nice ones. Just don't see the point in dropping that much on one.
@@serv-on "Normal in a high-cost area" is an oxymoron. If it's in a high-cost area, it's not normal.
The first thing to do when a company is struggling is 'trim the fat' and focus on the core of what made you a success in the first place. Not take on lots more 'fat' that hasn't been market researched, and pay for it off the backs of fans with less money than you have. Do they 'need' 25 staff? Do they 'need' a studio in Hollywood? Do they need to produce too many spin-off videos that don't get as many views? I'd start some trimming a lot of fat before offloading costs onto loyal fans that put you where you are in the first place. An inefficient, mismanaged bloated business model fueled by ambition (I don't want to say ego) is not the fans responsiblilty.
It's like they got posessed by the ghosts of the Fine Bros.
If everyone had run over to the new platform as they expected, it wouldn’t have been long before they increased the prices so they could make even more expensive content. The entitlement!
Exaaaactly! It was giving lazy. They didn't want to grind so they wanted us to fully fund it.
They have come full circle and became buzzfeed. Lol.
Some said this in their comments and it's so true 😂
I have watched these guys since BuzzFeed. And when this came out that's pretty much broke my little supernatural heart
Same😢😢😅
@@nicolamchugh7154 I don't know whether to blame CZcams for watching some of the best content.Creators shoot themselves in the foot or the content creators anymore
Not judging, but why would you watch these people (not exactly Denzel Pitt Hemsworths, tbh) whose manner of speaking in what's apparently their native tongue [English???], unless it's muted (preferred), in which case even auto-generated subtitles are stroking😮?
@@lennefujimurahuh?
@@FabiolaMacabre Never mind, I was simply curious.
As a long time fan of these guys, even the apology is insulting. They are acting like they don’t have several sources of income. They have expensive merch, sold out live shows, ad revenue, and a lot of patreon members. The patreon members have been complaining for a while that they haven’t been getting the perks that they pay for. They can’t even manage their own patreon correctly but now want to run a streaming service? They could have just offered patreon members early video access, behind the scenes content, and maybe Q&As. They could have gotten more members that way and saved themselves the cost of running an entire streaming service for their 4 videos a month. It’s just literally like watching a bunch of toddlers try to run a company 🤦🏻♀️
They should really invest in a business consultant.
It's not a terrible apology though.
The desperate earnestness is uncomfortable.
I couldn't put my finger on how I felt them were acting, but its that. Desperate earnestness
Oh yeah, their patreon members got nothing. There were a ton of of them flipping out that they were now expected to pay for a subscription service to watch their stuff _while_ already (and probably expected to contuine) paying them.
I think you put it into words why I didn't like the apology video either -- there are a lot of distraction tactics in it. I used to watch them while they were at Buzzfeed -- they were genuinely entertaining and funny. But when they moved to their new channel, while some shows were great (Puppet History I enjoyed) it... just started getting less and less like why everyone liked them in the first place. If you see footage of them at the live shows, you get the impression they let the minor celebrity status get to their heads -- descending down stairs to cheering fans like they're rock stars. I haven't watched their videos in a couple years -- Ryan lost his 'good boy' persona, Shane went from being the cool kind of hipster to border becoming grating, and Steven (a.k.a Poochy from Itchy and Scratchy) was kind of unwelcome to me, with his lavish videos, and rich-boy energy.
The first time I ever saw Steven it was him being a bartender on Too Many Spirits. To this day, I can't say whether he just desperately fails at comedy and trying to be likeable or whether there is some genuine hostility underneath it all. It just made me so uncomfortable.
I have absolutely no idea who they are. From what they say and how they are saying it I don't want to know.
Me either but I'll watch 2 Omegon videos about it 😂
They used to be great, but then they turned back into Buzzfeed
Puppet history Is perfection and doesn't need to be a part of this scandal. Poor little blue guy...
Isn't virtually every streaming service currently losing money? Like, drastically? And they thought now is a great time to launch ANOTHER one?? Why not join an existing one?
It's the arrogance of that for me. Imagine taking this and thinking your channel warrants a whole ass netflix all its own. Its delusional at best
I wonder if they missed the boat on Nebula?
My main issue is that code for patreon folks, since it feels so much like an inconvenience pacifier. They were going to be okay with just having them pay more money, but didn't give them a code till after this blew up. Almost like when a business gives you extra credits for your package not coming in, its more of a way to quiet the customer from complaining and give them a way to say, "But we did help them!".
That code is only good for three months. I’ve paid up our Patreon through November. The maths never math with these blokes
@@imjustjk Seriously? It's not even an ongoing thing?
@@elhazthorn918nope
This amounts to greed. It's really that simple.
13:20 not only was the free subscription not provided up front to Patreon members, when it was offered, it was only good for the first three months worth of access.
These guys can kiss my arse.
The refund comment really threw me off. Minus a few exceptions, you don't have a choice in whether or not you want to give a customer a refund if they're unsatisfied with their product or service.
This new platform was over before it started.
When I think about what I liked about their channel, It kinda spoke to the more childish part of me that likes fairytales. Ghosts and mysteries. When they were like "give me 6 dollars or goodbye" in their video, that was very funny in a sad way.
I think they will come back from it as their second offer seems waay more reasonable but for me the appeal of their channel is kinda ruined.
Wow. I'm sure this has been said before, you can take the boys out of buzzfeed but you can't take the buzzfeed out of the boys....
Living proof that dumb and successful is not unattainable.
All things considered, it's definitely not the worst apology on CZcams. Not even a single ukulele
They are no big loss.
Shortly but surely i have become a HUGE fan of this channel!👏🏼
Imagine former employees of Buzzfeed being huge smeg heads.
Imagine my shock.

@hansjuker8296 that seems interesting, I'll look into it.

TYVM - now I cannot unsee the one in middle, red shirt, without a description:
*This would be Evgeni Plushenko, a famous Russian figure skater, if born in the USA to some UpperClasdLibs, single-mothered since age 5...*
A little interaction for the algorithm Meg….😊
It's depressing - I really liked these two when they did true crime videos. Those videos were fantastic, genuinely very funny, and I'd still happily be watching those if they still made them. Sure, it was technically Buzzfeed, but those videos were pure entertainment.
I feel like this was the realist commentary I've seen on this situation.
Not the couch in the opening shot! 😂😂
This all screams greed
55 grand for a wedding venue. Hope he gets divorced
Thats the average for nyc
Three middle aged men with their teenage son's hair. Weird
Since when do haircuts have age limits ? 😂
I mean, they aren’t quite middle aged yet 😅 I don’t even think they are 40 yet
Even if they aren't middle aged, they're gonna feel a lot older after this washes out 😅
@@FabiolaMacabre I'm 55 with beautiful, longer hair for a man (and no gray yet). Hair has no age limits.
For the algorithm
Most fans seem to have forgiven them with the second video, but as a not-fan (I didn't know who they were a week ago), I am looking at what they actually did/said and don't think they should be forgiven. Their first iteration was that everything was going to be taken off youtube, even the old stuff, and put behind the paywall. They knew that the VAST majority of their subscribers wouldn't or couldn't actually afford to subscribe to their new streaming platform, and they didn't care. Buh-bye old cheap/poor fans! Hello paying customers! 'Give us your money or piss off.' They changed their minds by post about the old content removal when the uproar started, but everything else remained the same...including making Patreon patrons pay for a subscription as well. If Patrons went for the yearly option, they would get a 40% discount on the streaming subscription...which costs more than quitting Patreon and just subscribing. They got no discount for the monthly option. 'Gee, thanks a heap guys' :( Patrons were not happy, natch. Patrons started leaving mean comments and ending their patronages. And, the internet just kept getting louder about the whole thing. So, here we are, almost everything walked back. The only reason they aren't dumping their fans anymore is because an angry internet would pretty much guarantee a failed project.
They still don't care about their subscribers, they just want to stop the bleeding. They've clearly planned this new service for months, and had months to decide only paying customers matter...till all the online anger went viral, and now they are 'fluffing' subscribers (as Omegon puts it) furiously. "I love you baby, sorry, everything came out wrong. Believe me, you're everything to me! Really!! Please stop throwing my stuff out the window." lol
"Well isn't this just fantastic."
You said it 😕😑
this sounds like rooster teeth
Aren’t they dead and butchered up now by Warner bros?

This has to be some speed run.
"As far as apologies go, this isn't the worst..."
Are we still pretending that the act of apologizing in online-valley matters and has any value (not counting that PR intern writing it, who's now being able to donate to his fav' twitcheress)😅?

One thing I would say, Omegon, my lovely aquatic being, is I’m sure you’d be awesome at crime content - and it is huge on the site? Can’t you start a Something Fishy true crime channel? I promise, what with me, and … ok I don’t promise anything. I’ll be there though in a (human) heartbeat. Oh and bahahaha at these guys. I actually started off my YT watching by watching two of them do the scary stuff for Buzzfeed but lost interest precisely because I like sub-television quality content ONLY. As soon as I notice a touch of cinematic or televisual flair, I think “I could be watching any number of high end films that I’ve got in my BitTorrent folder” and go and search out something scummier - which led me to you. Anyway, good job and all that and don’t make me go out on a Zodiac tip, committing really low level crimes like not returning people’s biros, and then writing letters to newspapers and police stations scrawled in my (human) blood, and then CC’ing in your email so you can get the scoop. Do crime videos. Bye
Def would like a stardew valley video
Those guys sold out years ago.
9:30 Them being former Buzzfeed, they are partially responsible for these conditions too.
I'm torn about this. Social media is a plague and anything that hurts CZcams should be encouraged, but I agree they messed this up.
I think yotube blocked the auto upload for rumble
Anniversary stream yay!
"smeghead"-Dave Lister and Rimmer.
I've taken the sub they used to get from me and am giving it to you. If I can be honest the so called apology video just felt so disingenuous. Why not cut back on the people working there? Why expect your supporter's to pay for someone's travels expenses? Why wasn't that discussed? I watched it and a pit of disgust just settled in me. If I'm being honest I feel they're just placating the fan base until they can attempt to pull the rug from under their communities feet yet again.
I've watched a few of your videos before now so I feel it's about time. Thank you.
1:11 what was her name again? I recall seeing her videos YEARS ago and then she just -poof! Channel vanished. Didn’t know if there was a controversy or if people were being creepy or something.
MIC DROP.
What makes me so mad is that tv stations and streaming services also have to drop shows that aren’t doing well. You don’t get this imaginary freedom to post anything g when you have a streaming service. It’s not a good excuse to say “well, we wanna make the shows no one likes so it’s better to do it on a streaming service” If no one is watching it for free, then no one will want to pay money for it either, lol. When it comes to creative business, we all take our losses.
Obligatory FIRST! lol
It took a Omegon to clearly layout the bullshit watchers did. 🍸lol
I still think they are going to Jones Town.
Wait what happened in stardew

It is kinda sad that they even thought about doing all of this. I unsubscribed after the first day since I don't even have money for other subscription platforms, I watched them for the silly blue professor because I love history.
I might watch the old content again but It won't be the same anymore
After all this, frankly, I’m not super excited to even stay a subscriber of them. It’s left me extremely disgusted.
No idea who these people are?
For Lord Algorithm.
I had no idea who these guys were, but my first impression of them is not a good one 😅
Corridor Digital also has their own platform with exclusive stuff and extended versions of what they put on CZcams, and they’re successful as well. These three are just stupid.
The right way to do it is Dropout
I love Puppet History, so I'll continue watching it. Was it a good apology? I think so. Did they really mean it? I get the feeling they are mostly feeling sorry for themselves, BUT I do want to believe that this experience is a very good lesson and that they have had an enormous piece of humble pie. Yeah, I heard about the expensive wedding etc. I get it, they got famous, got rich, and got carried away, just like so many other people.
Again, at the very least they took action and it looks like it was the right one. This won't fix everything obviously and I'm sure many of the fans will not support them again but I've seen worse CZcamsrs. These guys are fine. Good luck to them, from here they really need to work hard on regaining the trust. And oh, also TRIM THE DARN FAT!!!
Is there any testosterone among these guys ?
I love your videos but your outro is a bit too long for my taste
Huge mbmbam energy 😒
Their YT videos were such Bollox that I am glad they are leaving .

Buzzfeed? Say no more. TRASH.
This was such a dumb move on so many levels I can't help but wonder if it wasn't a publicity stunt. Like a "all attention is good attention" type of move? Big channels like asmongold and moistcr1tikal made videos about the situation, which introduced many people to the Watcher channel (even if in a negative light).
Funny how people fall over to spend thousands on any random apple products but if any youtuber wants to make more money be it even $1 more the “community” will nuke them. Breaking news people like money and will do anything for even more money.
That's not at all the situation.
They already had a pateron that brought in 30-60k a month. The teirs where 5, 10, 25, 100$. Or something. And pateron only takes like 3-5%.
Their merch was incredibly expensive for what it was. 80$ per basic hoodie etc.
They literally could have just managed their pateron and budgeted better an no one would care. They already were making extra. And again no one cared.

While they corrected it very quickly, I don't really think it was a misstep, more like stepping into the abyss.
Lol fair enough
Yea I don’t think this will hurt/ end their channel as the title says since most of their audience seems to have bought the apology according to the video logistics.
Profile pic and username combo made me laugh. 😅
@@elhazthorn918yea a lot of people seem to like it😂.
I thought it was funny how so many of their fans became disabled and unable to work to pay six dollars all at once once they announced this
I feel like they were prepared to some degree for this backlash. I doubt very highly that they (or their 25 employees) didn't think this could go poorly AT ALL. It feels like they decided to try the road that would get them the most money, and this "apology" was their back up plan in case it didn't work. It's like they were trying to see what all they could get away with. I've been with them since their early Buzzfeed years. I was a little torn on what stance to take because I love Ryan and Shane and seeing people speak badly of them makes me want to jump to their defense. But at the same time, this seemed so underhanded. They really said "I'm sorry we didn't think about you at all".
All I can say is, as a former James Somerton subscriber, that these guys will have to do better than this, if they want to use appeals to emotion to manipulate me into overlooking their egregiously egotistical behavior.
Even the Completionist knew how to handle money better than this.
