I like the idea of safe points. Gamebooks can be played in many different ways with flexible rules. I personally like the hard difficulty and start all the way from the beginning in case I die.
I remember playing Middle earth Quest books back in the day... Good times.
ok I rolled as well,
8,9,5-dropped the 5.
mastery 2 [short sword]
and gold was 3.
27/5 - 22/4 after dropping the 5
you rolled 6,7,6,6,8
33/5 - 27/4 after dropping the 6
both are good characters.
I propose another play option.
roll 3 dice and assign 1 each to combat, endurance, and gold.
[no wasted or dropping rolls]
other than that I got nothing else on streamlining their play options.
I have seen the new print of the lone wolf series, iÂŽm happy that they work the same as the old ones :)
So happy yer doing more fighting fantasy stuff! Itâs a great companion (alternate) game style to HeroQuest I think. :)
When bored with 1, switch to the other. :)
The hardback version of this "definitive edition" Book 1 is a revised & expanded edition of the text (550 sections instead of 350) - in case anyone is thinking of buying. The new "optional rules" you see in the video are the same in both versions.
It's a bit confusing because both versions have the same cover art, but the paperback version has the original text from the 80's (with only slightly revised to fix errors & add additional lore in a separate section at the back of the book) - so be sure of which you are getting, or if you'd like to own both.
All the later books released as part of this most recent edition are the same, whether hardback or paperback editions, just this first book that has 2 very different versions & it isn't obvious which you're getting if you're new to the series / haven't paid much attention to it since the original releases.
Do these books get delivered to Europe as well?
I'd check out holmgard press and see if you can order from there, you may he able to find them on Amazon as well.
Try the hardcover
