    throw any rumor involving the Leafs and Flames out the window because it isn't going to happen the Flames owner is pouting and doesn't want to do any deal with the Leafs

      I thought the same way. I can see Calgary entertaining interest on lower name players in deals, just not the studs.
      However, in Coleman’s case, I just don’t see Calgary retaining salary in a trade with the Leafs.

      Flames won't trade with treliving he wrecked the team. Sign a #1 goalie then traded the core for an older lesser player and picks. Worst gm in the league

    Bertuzzi is not a big loss imo. We have some goals to replace, or we could just allow less, but Bertuzzi is incredibly slow and handles the puck horribly.

    If the Flames are trading a 30 goal scorer and are asked to retain salary, Nick Robertson and a secondary prospect will not be enough. Robertson, Cowan and a 1st round pick may get it done. Also would Coleman want to move to Toronto - the NMC gives him total control

    I'm very disappointed with Robertson. True, Keefe misused him and he has every right to be bitter, but give Berube a chance! I really think that Chief will give him the ice time he wants. Suck it up Nick and give it a year...

    • @LeafsDigest
      @LeafsDigest  Před měsícem

      I understand Nick's frustration, he was being sent up and down for no other reason other than the cap, but I believe there is so much more to his game still. He scored 14 goals last season in the coach's dog house and if he can clean up his decision making in the D-zone and neutral zone then I think he's a very valuable player. He doesn't have to be a stud in all areas, I think Berube can help him clean up the decision making and give him a chance to do what he does best. He should succeed if healthy. - Darius

    To me you deal a Robertson, Timmins (as the young roster pkayer), Kampf or Reaves (as a salary dump), and a pick or prospect for…
    Boone Jenner (at 50%)
    Blake Coleman (at 50%)
    Or Ryan McGroaty

  • @WestBrantKid
    @WestBrantKid Před měsícem

    Toronto doesn't have to trade with Calgary to get Blake. Not do they have to trade what Calgary needs ( Robertson).
    They can trade with a different team, say Dallas as an example. Maybe Jarnkrok and Kampf to Dallas for Blake, after Dallas trades Calgary, some prospects for Blake. If Dallas got Calgary to retain, Toronto could offer value for double retention.

    Blake Coleman makes $4.9 million a year for three years. He was a member of the two cup teams in Tampa Bay and got overvalued as a result. He is coming off a career best season so the Leafs would be buying high. He's a career 17 goal 35 point player. Flames want prospects and picks. What are the Leafs going to give up for a guy who is guaranteed to have a worse offensive season this year.
    And what salary are you going dump???
    Might as well have gone to get Kadri.
    Tanev is not going to be an elite defenseman.
    Leafs don't have a cup window. This version of the Leafs has failed,they will not win a cup.
    Going to trade Tanev for him?
    Flames don't want Kampf. No one wants Kampf.
    Nick Robertson has played in 4 NHL seasons and has played 87 games and has 17 goals and 34 points. His only virtue that I can see is he is 22 and can improve. His virtue is potential not anything he has actually done yet.

    Leafs made a massive mistake signing liljegren and allowing Bert ( a player that really wanted to play for the leafs) walk. This team is not good enough to compete with the elite teams in the league. Another bust of a year if they don’t make a significant move before the season

      @@Redz1991 most of the time when you go to a new team there’s an adjustment period. He didn’t “ wake up” he was just comfortable playing the style of hockey that the coach wanted at the halfway mark. He also missed plenty of great opportunities to score he could’ve easily had 10 more goals. Coleman is definitely not better than Bert. Never has been never will be

      @@Redz1991 yeah he needs to tape his stick. I think that would help him receive passes better but he’s much better player than Coleman. He’s a lot more physical and more of a dog in front of the net. He’s also underrated at those little in tight passes that are playoff style plays. I think bert is better defensively as well. I think he’s better at everything except for skating
