Hi Dave this very useful information, it's always a hassle if some are not as good as you at understanding how certain electronics work. I'm using Mosconi at the moment and I get help from a car stereo shop. Thank you my brother for sharing this amazing video.

Thank you sir! I’m just trying to put out some videos that I don’t see on CZcams and maybe some of them will help some people.

15.3V seems high for 80% of cars, even your DSP has max input voltage of 16V. This Helix Director looks cool, allows to select sound mode etc, but half of the functions are redundant when you have a modern head unit. I'm planning to get Helix V Eight dsp, but I will use all 3 pairs of pre-outs to be able to controle things like subwoofer, EQ or fader from HU. Helix DSP will take care of channel routing (for example center speaker), time delay and active x-over. At least that's how I imagine it as a beginner.

Actually you have it all wrong. First the max input voltage is 18 volts not 16 in the Helix DSP Ultra.
You also can’t change the inputs with a head unit if you’re running a DAP and want to switch back to optical from coaxial or the Hex/Aux input. Along with many other things
You can only do that with a Director or another one of the Helix controllers but the director is the most flexible and easy to access things.
A modern aftermarket head unit is pointless these days unless you’re driving an old vehicle that doesn’t have anything.
Also you’re not going to use an EQ in a head unit if you have a DSP.

@CarAudioHorizons yeah I had a basic radio in my truck and upgraded the head unit and just used a wired in 75 per channel alpine amp...witch worked great no complaints, but I've upgraded a bunch of things and now just look at my head unit as a total waste of money and I'm left just thinking I'm going to just trade my truck in and get the big screen factory head unit and cut my losses on the head unit I have...mostly im just being spoiled cause I have 7k into my stereo now , and it's a base model truck and I want a nicer one evan tho I rationalized myself from spending the extra money when I got the truck..Im left with I have everything to run the factory big screen now...I have the system that I can't turn on and say I would like to upgrade that piece!! I might as well have the vehicle I look at and sit in and say this is exactlly what I want..

@@CarAudioHorizonshuge grand cherokee fan but after 4 of them I was ready for a change up and I have to say I'm enjoying the crew cab truck thing with the middle size bed m! Not the small one and not the big one..maybe cause it's just differant then the sane ole thing I get..bit ot is nice to not have to pull a little trailer around evan tho I only need a trailer twice a year or so...

Eh not as much function as I thought it would have. Can't tune the system with it? My old Alpine H800 and Rux controller can do that.

@CarAudioHorizons why Google search when I can watch a video of its functions? Seems to just be a glorified volume knob. Old but still works. Actually replacing it with a DSP3.S so wanted to check out if the director is worth getting.

@@vongdong10 The conductor is the better option price wise but you don’t get everything the Director does and there are a few more options with the Director if you have the Helix Hec BT HD installed

Yes, if you go to www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/helix/amplifiers/v-eight-dsp-mk2 then scroll to the bottom it shows you all of the Helix V Eight accessories. The Conductor is a popular choice these days as well and it’s not as expensive as the Director

@@ddent22 I use to have the old Focal Utopias a long, long time ago
Loved them! The Frogs are good as well more mid bass and can go a bit louder but not quite as detailed as the old Utopias. But the Frogs are less than half the price.
My favourite speakers of all time were Dynaudio’s Esotar2 especially the 430 mids which I might buy this summer
.will see.
