You can't "waive" jurisdiction, you have to challenge it, and that would be on the basis that the court doesn't have jurisdiction over you, or over the locus, or over the issue being tried. If you don't challenge jurisdiction at the earliest opportunity, you will probably be taken to have acknowledged jurisdiction and thereafter it will be impossible. In the US, it can certainly be an issue in criminal justice - e.g. 'this is a Michigan court but this was a federal offence', or vice versa; also 'this is a Michigan court but I'm from Wisconsin', that sort of thing.

Actually that was the contention of the Judge. He instructed the defendant that he could not represent himself AND retain his rights to an attorney too. So, in order to have any self-representation rights, the Judge had decided the defendant had to give up his rights to counsel of an attorney. Though most attorneys apparently would flat out refuse to provide advise or counsel before a court, if the defendant is claiming sovereign citizen status.

I can't recall whether it was actual jail or deferred with a minimal time to serve, but either way the lady was her own worst enemy for deciding to represent herself...

If he was boating in the Great Lakes, there’s no such thing as international waters, it’s either or our side or the Canadian side and nothing in between like the Atlantic and Pacific. So no treaty applies. As i understand, treaty law in domestic case involve cases involving the Indian tribes and the state of Texas.
