  • Welcome back to the Northland Workshop! In this video Iain shows how to turn replacement chisel handles for antique chisels. He shows how to make handles for both socket chisels ans tang chisels.

      They must have all drifted up here to New England because they seem to be all over the place around here.

    Most socket chisels have a taper of 7.5 degrees on a side... but there are some 6.5 degrees all the way to 8 degrees.... on a metal lathe.
    I do not paint the grooves, but burn them in with a piece of steel wire pulled with two vice grips.

      Thanks! Do you mean have I made a handle for a slick or have I made the whole blade and everything for the slick?
