- Mr Steve from Vanguard Tactics brought a tough bunch of religious fanatics to the studio, so I thought I'd bring along Morty and the Death Guard in this 2000 point matched play game. It's big. It's nasty. It's fun and fluffy. It's competitive play at its finest.

My favorite part of these videos is the army introductions, and listening to Winter's "okay" go from enthusiastic to flat as he hears all the synergies and rule shenanigans of the other team.

winters SEO Battle Reports are always fantastic. The first 23 minutes is just showing off the armies and even that is hugely entertaining.
Not going to lie its my favourite part of any battle report and not only does he do it the best he brings out the best in others when he does it
I love them, fun well presented and down to Earth. Some other channels put me off because I hate how over-produced they are, they try to present the battle reports as a sport/reality TV show and I'm just not into it.
Mortarion praying to Tzeentch sealed his fate, I think...
Great report, and excellent coverage of tactics, and "why I did this over that" explanations. Would make an excellent series in the Deployment Zone. Coach-focused games with VT!
Have this fellow back when possible, nice to see a bit of hard list action but still with your (winter's) narrative spin on it! Real pleasure to watch along with you two.

4th of July in America, got Monday off, some deathguard to paint, AND Winters puts out a new video. What a fantastic weekend!
I'm sure it's because he painted them all in one weekend that they have it, but I really like the matte finish on the newer models. I'm honestly quite inspired to carry that aesthetic into my army when I paint them! Excellent match by the way!

Just love the respect shown from vanguard and banter. This how a competitive player should be with friends, sticking to the rules and playing to win but being friendly about it and offering advice.

As someone who pained an army after a year in lockdown, who hadn’t played since 2nd/3rd edition at school. I would love to know where to start regards looking for other players to play some casual games with.
You could what my friend did. He hijacked me and waterboarded me until i started playing. Now I'm leading a struggling fight with my Raven guard.
facebook local hobby groups, join some discord groups and look for players, ring up local shop and ask about gaming clubs
Go in to your local store, they normally have some whatsapp groups or facebook groups of players

The map, mission, and specially armies discussion is prob my favorite part of a batrep, like many other commenters said. Brilliant game, I thought Stephen was done for after that DG turn 2 where most of his left flank got wiped out but he handled it superbly!

Brilliant fight. Really enjoyed the surprised reaction when Winter's tank blew up from V.T's attack. Just shows how even experts still have to take time to know all the ins and outs of playing. No wonder we need a coaching school :D

i think this just shows how expensive mortarion is points wise and what a big blow to the death guard list it is once mortarian is taken off the board

This was one of my favourite battle reports because it highlights two things that sometimes get missed. Narrative players still offer tough competition and Compettive players still play for the love of rolling those d6. Thanks guys, match made in heaven.

I think Winter's SEO should've done disgusting force stratagem when he shot the mortar into the characters before he charged in with the Lord of Contagion
so, bascically, Nurgle said : " this is way too beautiful, we have to put that way more ugly"

Love these vids, as always. Lil surprised the game room hasn't gotten some nice sound proofing panels on the walls though. There's really nice ones Audimute carries that could help some of the audio drop off from the guest who isnt behind the mic
Honestly, I can't pinpoint why, but your batreps are just the best to actually watch. I mean, there is a ton o channels out there doing a fantastic job when it comes to batreps, some of them, production wise, more advanced, but I usually just run them in the background while paitning or building minis. Yours - I just watch and enjoy every second of it.

Don’t forget Morties Phosphex bombs, not a bad option over the lantern some of the time. Also attendants teeth and claws, D6 extra attacks, can get you a wound or two on low toughness opponents.
Problem with the bombs is they are blast. So can't use them in combat. :(

Great match, been a fan of Vanguard Tactics since Steve beat the meta with Deathwatch. Solid banter, strong lists, fantastic match. Winters; when are we going to see Brother Koorland in 9th?

Phew, was a very close game, was absolutely nail biting on turn 2-3, as at one point, I thought the Sisters were going to lose due to a lot of failure to inflict enough damage on Mortarion, and I didn't think the ladies with sword and halberds could do much against Mortarion especially when shutting off auras, but in brutal twist of events, they actually pulled it off.
That being said, well played on both sides. Both did their best, the luck of the dice was quite BAD on BOTH sides, which sort of equalizes each other resulting in a nice report and battle that didn't feel one sided. Good job to both. Will check out Vanguard Tactics later, hopefully got some good advice and reviews for my Space Wolves.
Great battle that, really swung in one turn. I think I’d have swung Morty round the weaker flank, cleared that and then tried to roll into the middle to support. Morty’s dang wings are so big he’s really hard to hide.
I love watching thess battle reports and the interactions between everyone. Though I'm curious, has there ever been any considerations for a 2v2 game with everyone bringing a 2000 or 2500 point army?
I started playing 40k back in 99 when I was 11, Just before the Armageddon campaign came out and that influenced me into playing orks as my main army. I played up till 2010 and had 4 armies total. I sold them all and have been totally off of this goddamn plastic coke habit until just the other day when I learned that Da Boyz would be getting new models and new rules and stats. I can NOT justify getting back into this hobby. At all.
But I feel the itch.
God DAMN do I feel the itch (I had a home built genestealers cult army back before they had their own army, too. Finding out that they have their own book and models is killing me) watching your vids is scratching that itch just enough to keep me from falling off the wagon and doing something stupid like buying a warboss and box of Boyz. Keep doing whatcha doing. It's good for those of us trying to stay clean 👍

Mortarian is such a unit now. I've played him twice against my friends and they have nearly put a ban on me using him XD. The 5+ feel no pain and the -1 damage is just so good. Love the battle report : )
